TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Tucson Police Department has released documents detailing their multiple run-ins with Christopher Clements, the man accused of killing Isabel Celis and Maribel Gonzales.

Starting in 2007, Clements was arrested four times by the TPD. Clements, a registered sex offender, has faced charges of living too close to a school, lying to police, burglary, child abuse and pimping in Tucson. He is also facing burglary and theft charges in Maricopa County.

Clements and his fiance at the time, Melissa Stark, also had run-ins with police as victims of theft.

On numerous occasions, Clements contacted TPD about problems he was having with different people, including a neighbor, a man Stark sold a vehicle to and friends of Stark.

I'd say contacting the police with his own problems is very brazen of this predator!

Sex offender faces court in case of 2 Arizona girls killed

PHOENIX (AP) — For years, police couldn’t figure out how a 6-year-old girl was taken from her bedroom window while she slept in her family’s Arizona home, never to be seen again.

Then came a call from a woman engaged to a convicted sex offender who had bounced around various states, leaving a trail of criminal convictions before settling in Tucson.

The woman told the FBI that her fiance had information about the whereabouts of Isabel Celis, a hazel-eyed, energetic little girl whose disappearance the night before a scheduled softball game had shaken her community to its core.

As Christopher Clements led investigators to Isabel Celis remains, he said he didn't kill her. He blamed other criminals for that but he said he did pour bleach on her remains to repel animals.

BBM. Is he really trying to paint himself as some Good Samaritan who just poured bleach on a murdered little girl? Wow...I don't even have words for this.

In this article it mentions a young child that Clements girlfriend told police was she and Clements child. I am Berri worried for this child, and am hoping that this child was removed from the home and interviewed to make sure she wasn't abused by Clements.

Sorry just one more comment, then I will return to just reading the threads and following the case as it unfolds. When Isabel disappeared, the celis' made statements and interviews to the public, on many occasions. When Isabel's remains were found, the celis' made a statement to the public, to help us get "closure" also..... wth!!! Closure??? What about pleading with the public to wrack there brains and find their daughters killer and bring him to justice??? Now somebody has been arrested and indicted, what have we heard from the Celis' family??? Not a dicky bird, nothing, nada. Maribels family have made 3 statements/interviews, also maribels family came to the indictment alone, the Celis family came with their lawyer. Speaks volumes to me, but feel free to sit on your high horse and think you know more than anybody else. I've never claimed or insisted SC was involved, I said I won't be surprised if he was, and was prepared to never mention it again in another post until challenged to provide "evidence" he was involved. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, and I'll apologise for that, but last I checked, free speech was allowed and I'm entitled to my opinion. Let's just see how the case unfolds eh!

I get your logic, but when you post an opinion be prepared to have it challenged. It's nothing personal, this is just a discussion forum with LOTS of opinions.

In regard to the court appearances, and silence from the Celis family in contrast to Maribel's family. I think there is a logical explanation; Maribel's family wasn't slayed in the blogs, social media, or discussion forums. Nor was every public statement they made dissected and redirected to point to guilt/involvement with her disappearance. So ....

I'm not sitting on a high horse, I toppled when CC was arrested. I was pretty much convinced that SC disappeared IC, and until the arrest you couldn't have swayed my opinion. If CC had some sort of proof SC was a co-conspirator with him, you better believe he would have offered it by now. He said he had a video of SC at a pawn shop, which IMO shows he may have been stalking him (super creepy!!!!!!). CC obviously followed this case, perhaps even read here. In his deranged mind, he may have thought he could set SC up for a fall. Let the gravity of that sink in for a moment ... the person who murdered Isa, is trying to implicate her Father.

Anyway, no need to slink away. As long as your posts are within TOS, you have a right to share your opinions!!!

But police reports cite other evidence to explain how Isabel Celis may have attracted Clements' attention.

He made a business of buying, fixing and selling Honda and Acuras. Police say he went to the Celis house at least twice asking to buy an old Acura there.

Police say he made four short phone calls to a Celis family phone. And detective reports say Clements phone locked onto a cell tower near the Celis house the day Isabel disappeared and soon after locked onto a cell tower near the Avra Valley site where she was found many years later. The reports also say the day after Isabel Celis disappeared, Christopher Clements got a new phone and new phone number.

Phone records implicate alleged Isabel Celis killer
Day she disappeared his phone was near Celis house

Some key evidence against Clements sat unused for three years.

In May 2017 a new lead detective on the case decided to review the evidence. He wrote, "I noted several items of evidence that appeared to have not been previously tested by DNA Labs International or any other forensic lab." Investigators say of the six samples found, one found DNA on Maribel Gonzalez from Christopher Clements.

As Christopher Clements led investigators to Isabel Celis remains, he syyaid he didn't kill her. He blamed other criminals for that but he said he did pour bleach on her remains to repel animals.

When I read this I literally felt ill. What an ultimate betrayal to the Celis family.

He.. under false pretenses is pretending to be interested in their old car. He never had any intentions of buying anything from them. He was targeting their innocent little daughter.

What a cunning evil monster he is.

This is David Westerfield..in reverse. His little victim came to his door selling girl scout cookies. Shortly afterwards she was kidnapped...raped and murdered by him and her little ravaged body thrown out in the desert.

Then CC went on to murder Maribel because murderung Isa..wasnt enough. Pedos...like him never stop. He would have continued to destroy the lives of little children and their families.

CC is truly what evil is and looks like.

Right after Isabel was abducted my best friend from Tucson told me back then that the TPD..would not solve the case based on their investigation.

She said if the case was ever solved it would be because someone they had never interviewed called in a tip and that would be the only way it would be solved. She said most serious cases aren't solved by good detective work but solved when an outsider comes to them and not from the TPD.. finding them.

She was right all alomg. If his girlfriend had continued to withhold evidence including him burying Isabels..personal items in her yard I think it would have never been solved.

It was only after him saying he wasn't involved yet took them to the location and his girlfriend contacting the F BI is when they began to go through a lot of the evidence they had already collected and had been in their possession for years. That is shameful imo.

They had DNA evidence in their possession since Maribel was murdered but some of it was never tested. And when finally tested years later it matched the murderer. This knowledge has to be so painful to learn for the Gonzalez family knowing they could have found out years earlier.

And the most frightening part is the possibility he may have sexually assaulted others or worse. He could go out of the area to commit other crimes and then return to Tucson.

I hope those who knew him will be able to tell LE...when he left town...where he went and when he returned.

There is so much more to this guy beyond Isabel and Maribel. He seems to strike every two years. Often serial predators have a pattern in time intervals and how they target victims that look similar to each other.

I sure hope the FBI...is continuing to retrace his steps starting in his teens.

Hi Knox,

Thank you for your response, and you're right, of course opinions will be challenged. I think being new and not sharing the opinion of the majority I became over sensitive when challenged to explain why I felt that way.

As I said from the beginning it is looking more and more every day that CC is solely responsible so if SC truly had no part in this I'm whole heartedly sorry for doubting him.

I read an article saying CC had been questioned regarding Isabel's disappearance, with him being a local sex offender, so if they questioned his whereabouts etc, why on earth didn't they follow up his cell pings at the time and know he was close to the Celis house on the morning of the abduction? If they'd followed up on basic police work, poor Maribel might still be here, with her family, flourishing into a young woman, and living the life she was denied by that evil monster.

What confuses me is the fact that Isa didn’t scream when she was abducted.

He may have gagged her or put something over her mouth to muffle a scream. He had obviously planned this and came prepared.

This crime is so horrible! I’m so glad that her killer has been found.

I find that part of the abduction - with dogs and Dad sleeping on the couch especially disturbing. While 6 year old children are very sound sleepers, I do believe she had to be gagged to get her out of the window and to an awaiting vehicle. I always thought finding her killer would provide some relief but I'm yet to feel better. Every article hurts...

A man was indicted Friday in connection to the murders of two young girls – Isabel Celis and Maribel Gonzales. According to officials, Tucson detectives drove to Phoenix to read 36-year-old Christopher Clements his charges of Friday afternoon in connection to the two murders. Police say he is currently in custody and locked up in Maricopa County in connection to an unrelated burglary and fraud case

Late Edit: 38 minute video is not CC arraignment as I previously believed but the press conference.

I agree, knowing that Isa's killer has been does not make me feel any better or bring any closure. Now I just feel a great amount more anxiety about the safety of my children who are 1 and 3, if Isa could be kidnapped from her own home that was surrounded by a high wall, while her parents, brothers and dogs were all home how are anyone's kid's safe?

We have large barberry and rose bushes beneath or children's bedroom windows but I'm not even sure if things like that deter criminals or not.

Truth be told, I live behind bars. It took some getting used to and it's not for everyone, but I don't even notice it anymore. When the my children were young, before Isabel ever turned up missing, it gave me peace of mind.
