So why hasn't there been any charges of obstruction of justice against the immediate family? Perhaps they did tell LE about the texts but if so, it doesn't jive with the further statements from the family in MSM. Why hasn't the mother addressed this?

This is getting weirder and weirder. I know there were some contradictory statements in msm that Bella's sister reported that she heard yelling while LE said she told them she didn't hear anything.

I hate to broach the subject but is it possible the sister is trying to protect her mom and stepdad?

The sister also told the Daily News that Rector later texted messages to the family indicating that he had Grogan-Cannella and asking what they were going to do about it.

Unidentified minors sought and won a protective order against him in 2010; the order expired one year later.

That's telling. I know out here a parent can get protective orders against a person for their children. Do minors get to represent themselves? I suppose so. The reason why the minors did so, I don't need to know, but want to know. It could be very telling.

I'm sorry to all the people who are drug up in these cases. Has to be a nightmare if they aren't involved or haven't known the person in a few years or so. gah.

One of those individuals staying at the home was Rector, who had been there for a few days at the time of Grogan-Cannella’s disappearance.

Isabella Grogan-Cannella’s 10-year-old sister told the Mohave Valley Daily News on Tuesday evening that she heard yelling and when she came out of the bathroom, Rector and her sister were gone. Williamson specifically contradicted that statement at Thursday’s news conference.

“Bella’s sister did not hear any yelling or any kind of disturbance,” he said.

“(She) told police that the last time she saw Bella was about 11:30 p.m. on Monday when she went to the bathroom,” said Williamson. “Her sister reported Bella was with Rector. When she came out of the bathroom, they were gone.”

The sister also told the Daily News that Rector later texted messages to the family indicating that he had Grogan-Cannella and asking what they were going to do about it.

When asked about possible extortion charges being filed against Rector, Williamson said he couldn’t answer the question due to the active nature of the investigation.

Imo, no one should be allowed to keep their children if they expose them to felons, drugs, etc...it will never have a good ending.

And I hate how the mother keeps saying this "happened to her"....it happened to her child.

I'm behind, but yes!!!! Exactly how I feel. If you can't give up your drugs for your kids, you don't need to be a parent! Allow them to be placed with loving parents .. I know too many who can't have kids and would LOVE to adopt these precious babies .. Heartbreaking ..

IMO, if I were to guess at what happened here, it is that mom knowingly left her kids with this guy for a reason. Payment possibly, she used her kids as payment, but I think whatever was to happen was taken to the next level, when poor Bella wasn't as submissive as JR was told she would be or thought to be. It disgusts me to write this but this is my theory.
The fact then that when they got home and Bella was gone, they then began the task of trying to core their tracks and not look like the demons they are...

I wanted to address her saying "I can't believe this happened to me." Can you get more narcissistic?? She's the victim in this? Her 8 year old daughter was murdered by someone SHE brought into the house where her 8 year old daughter lived and should have been safe and this happened to HER? I know someone just like this, nothing every happened in anyone's life who is related to her that she didn't take it as a personal affront and wail that it happened to her and garnered all the attention.

If they told LE about such texts or showed them to LE then there's no way in h3ll LE would have let him go so quickly, or even at all, after finding him an hour or that couple of hours later.

BBM- Wow...well that there sure says a lot!!! Extortion charges. As in he had something on the parents that could get them in trouble. They were worried about getting in trouble and had hoped they could figure out a way to find Bella without fingering Rectum (misspelling on purpose.)

You are not the only one to have this theory. It is just a feeling AND speculation of course, I just hope that if there is any truth to this that it hasn't been something that may have happened more than once. I would love if all adults involved in this case have been completely truthful, but with the information from msm it seems unlikely at this point.

I am sadly exhausted after catching up on this thread.

I must live in a bubble...where people actually put their kids first (perhaps too much) and don't surround their kids with unstable individuals. Is it just me?

Yes, people I know have problems. No, life is not simple. But is it just me? Am I truly in a 'luxury' bubble where I don't have to leave my kids with drug addicts?

Are there so many people who have lost and then regained custody of their kids because they convinced someone that the bio dad is no great shakes either?

Sometimes I realize that we think society is sophisticated and 'advanced', but then realize that it's not. Sometimes I realize that having a steady job and a very comfortable income are a luxury and not the norm. Sometimes I realize how lucky I have it, in spite of 'challenges'. Who said life was simple?

How sad is it that we have to depend on a 10-year-old girl's statements for information while her mom and stepdad dance around the truth in order to keep themselves out of trouble.

A mother who said " but I have never ever been, never ever able not to provide for my daughter" and a stepdad who couldn't remember if her name was Isabella or Isabel. They foisted the responsibility for helping the search team look for Bella onto a ten-year-old child! And left poor Bella in the hands of a convicted criminal so they could go out.

Shaking my head isn't enough; I'm shaking my fist at them. What could possibly be more important than your beloved child?
