BBM Well no, the best indicator of future behavior is to review the past. No one is that unlucky. If she is accused, its logical. To say its NOT an issue would be concerning. That's going to stand out in victimology. Its circumstancial but with no other leads...
Oh, I totally agree. I am not saying that she should not be looked at and her past behavior certainly makes her suspect. My main point here is much less about Jeryce (sp?) than it is about jumping to conclusions about other people. I don't know about this situation, but certainly suspect the mom. I also know that persons of questionable character tend to surround themselves with other persons of questionable character.
My point is that her past behavior sends up red flags, but LE must follow the evidence to where it leads, unfortunately, and in my opinion, the hinky factors so many of us (including me) love to fall back on when there is a lack of any actual evidence is not always a reliable indicator to guilt, necessarily.
I would not be surprised one bit if she is involved. But I do tend to give people the benefit of the doubt and if it is true she was asked to hold off on the LDT until after the baby is born, and does actually take one, we'll see where that goes from there. That said, I don't lend a lot of credence to those tests anyway.
What I do try to avoid is the natural reaction to try to read into non-verbal cues as a way to determine someone's guilt or innocence. If we suspect a parent and they don't talk, we blame them for that. If they do talk and aren't falling to pieces, we blame them for that. If they do fall to pieces, we say they are bad actors. It is nearly impossible to figure out what is inside someone's head-particlarly if we have never met the person.
People are hoodwinked every day by those closest to them, marital infidelity, substance abuse problems, financial problems, etc... To think we can possibly know what happened by watching or not watching an interview with a person is pretty far reaching that is all.
This is all JMO.
