Bail at 100k is too low if they only have to secure 10% of it in cash right? She should have been held without bail..and god forbid she does get out on bail I hope she has no contact with any of her kids. God knows what other stories she will have them telling. I would hope there is an RO against her for the kids.

I have not commented on this tragic case, but have been here since day 1.

When I read what Jhessye's sibling told the foster mother, I began to shake uncontrollably--such rage and anger that I cannot even begin to describe. She did not deserve this--she should still be living with her cousins who obviously adored her--a happy little princess. God bless this precious child.

I have a feeling that when Jhessye's cousins--the ones who raised her and LOVED her--hear about this, they are going to come unglued. I would not be surprised in the least to see/hear about fireworks of anger bursting at the next court hearing.

Now, the tears are streaming......

I am so, SO angry.

And even moreso, I am so, SO sad.

That's waaayyyyy to low, IMO.
It's outrageously low! I'm appalled that she was granted bond at all. Jhessye hasn't been seen in two months. The children have told of the abuse they witnessed, and from the probable cause statement, their stories seem to jive. I understand that there's not enough evidence to charge her with a higher crime, but she was just charged with child abuse in April. She has a conviction from 2006. Why has the court made it so easy for her to be released? Why?! Sometimes it's harder to understand the thought processes of the judges than the perps.

I was wondering that as well. Don't you have to have a doctor's note after so many days absent?
It was when my son was in school, and I think that's a pretty standard rule in most school districts. But Jhessye never returned to school, so I guess it wasn't an issue.

Let me say upfront, that until 10 minutes ago, I was not aware of this precious child being missing, OR any details surrounding the case.

I turned on my laptop and this "mother" (she does NOT deserve that title, now or ever, but that's another issue). The news article ran a photo of this person, and the story stated that police arrested her for child abuse, and feel her daughter is most likely no longer alive. A few sentences saying her now 14 yr child said "Mom" regularly beat all of the children, and something about her serving 4 yrs in jail for child abuse (which caused me to think she must have really hurt those precious kiddos). Let me also say, I am usually a rather calm, non-judgmental person...until I find out that someone has purposefully hurt their children, just to do it.:furious:

I stared at that photo, thinking, "Oh, so NOW you look scared, NOW you look worried"! And then I launched into a tirade, yelling at my laptop, saying, "I bet you thought you were tough when you beat those precious children, and after that...well, I'll have to leave that part out b/c of our TOS rules, but suffice to say, I don't think I've used that type of language since I was in university back in the early 80's.:furious: I was truthfully a bit surprised at the strength of my reaction upon seeing this "person's" face, hair askew and looking scared. And then I clicked onto WS and briefly read that apparently this individual has done horrific, evil things:furious: which I have not yet read, but plan to once I post these thoughts of mine.

I guess my instant, negative reaction to this person was well deserved; I just hope that after reading the details, I'll be able to find a vocabulary word that still stays within our WS TOS rules. I'm not too confident about that at the moment if I reacted that strongly to just seeing her photo.:furious:

There is NOTHING any defense attorney can say, that can make this type of behavior "understandable". I think they would do better attempting to find out WHY this twisted level of pure evilness:furious: is taking place more and more in our society. This is one case that I can actually say, human punishment can't come close to what she deserves for abusing her precious children, but God WILL exact due punishment and she will have an eternal lifetime spent with satan:furious: to understand why she's there and her innocent angels are dancing with our Lord in joyous peace and protection!

Sorry for the rant- I try to keep them to a minimum, but this one is beyond my grasp!:maddening:

"Mahogany said her cousin (unknown) witnessed Jerice beat one of the children (unknown) and say, 'I went to prison for four years because of you,' " the officer wrote, summarizing Hightower's report. "The report also stated that Jerice beats five of her children severely."

In the second paragraph of the article you posted, it states that Jerica's parental rights were "revoked" in California.

We knew that the children were turned over to Jerica's mother by CPS, but did we know that Jerica's parental rights were "revoked?"

(I am assuming that "revoked" means the same thing as "terminated.")

Cleo, I hate to ask...but would you summerize this "situation" for me? I'm afraid if I read too much, I'll be taken away in a straight-jacket and you seem to have had the same reaction as me, but I have not yet heard any of the details. (or give me a link to read, if that's easier?)

Thanks, SO much! :)

Thank you Bessie, I'll read your reference. It always mystifies me why abusers, seemingly people who don't want children, continue to have them.

Knox...Thanks for posting this link. The children's names are included in this document. Do you know of any way to contact the one who placed this online. I didn't think they are allowed to disclose the names of minors.

This case that has been covered by the media, bite by bite, bit by bit - is beginning to sound more like some horror novel. These poor children will be permanently scarred by what they have seen. I hope that they are in a place where they can begin some therapy. Such an awful burden for Jhessye's siblings.

Mish, I can barely even read the details, much less repeat them, without totally losing my composure.

Here is a link to a court document that was released after Jerica's court hearing today. Grab tissues and prepare yourself as the details are not only sad, but they are stomach-churning and nauseating.

I'm sorry that I just cannot bring myself to write out all that this precious child endured at the hands of the person who should have been loving and nurturing her.

BBM. I went to the main page of the site with the document and saw the name of their Phoenix media contact, then went to that site and sent emails to some of the listed employees. It's almost 11:30 here in Arizona, I don't know if they will fix it before morning.

Guys, I had to remove that link until they can redact the names of the other minor children. Hopefully, someone can post a redacted version soon.

Beach, would you be kind enough to change the spelling of this baby's name on the thread title to what is presumably the correct spelling?

On the redacted court documents, this child's name is spelled "Jhessye."

She deserves the respect of having her name spelled correctly.

My heart just aches for her.

(If you can/will do this, Beach, my sincere thanks.)

Thanks, Marigold, but the document in question was the release order. I must confess that I scanned it earlier and overlooked the childrens' names. Good catch.

I just went to another news site that has the release order and the probable cause statement. I was about to post it here and I saw it wasn't redacted either! I'm already sitting here in tears over Jhessye, crying and barely coherent and I'm going to have to send off more emails to another news outlet because some of their employees don't care enough to protect these poor children from further victimization.
Un<modsnip>believable.

Duly noted, Beach. Thanks.

Bessie, thank you for reading and acting upon my request to correct Jhessye's name. I greatly appreciate it.
