I wonder if the other kids were able to tell police when Jehesseye was last in the apartment? I sure do hope so... I just bet that Jerice dumped her while they were at school :-( (eta: this would also help narrow the landfill search I would think...)

-----and then I think about poor Andrew Compton and thaaat landfill search... I guess all we can do is hope and pray that she is found....

My heart just breaks so much for those other children also. Can you imagine having to go to school while carrying this deep dark secret around? That your little sister is in a closet with missing hair and teeth and with bruises? And zombie-like?

I wish for them some extra special love, especially this Thanksgiving week. I hope they can find something to be thankful for... after all the trauma they have been through.

I just checked the Peas in Their Pods radio site to see if Shirley is scheduled for any future appearances but nothing listed yet.
I feel bad for legitimate organizations when it comes out that they have been helping spread the perps declaration of innocence and their version of events. They were partners in allowing Shirley and Jerice to spread the "poor Jerice" stories and their credibility may be affected permanently.
For anyone interested the shows that Jerice and Shirley were on are archived and you can still listen.

When I think of landfill searches, I also think about Lori Hacking. They had Mark's confession that she was in the landfill, and it was still extremely hard for them to find her remains. I am so worried that they may not find beautiful Jhessye's remains and that the monster will get away with it. As shown in another case, it has been long enough, they may not be able to show cause of death. And, will there be enough evidence with the body to show that Jerice is the one who put here there?

:sigh:

OK, I do a lot of work in the AZ foster care system and CANNOT understand why the child protective services caseworker would care whether or not the kids reported abuse back in April 2011 if their mother's PARENTAL RIGHTS HAD BEEN TERMINATED, which would justify removal regardless of any evidence of current abuse. Also, if her parental rights had been terminated, then the cousins or someone must have had the ACTUAL LEGAL RIGHT to care for her, and a phone call to the police should have resulted in the child(ren) (depending on whether her rights were terminated as to all of them) being returned to the care of the appropriate party--without any involvement of CPS or any evidence of current abuse.

I wonder if her parental rights regarding Jhessye were ever legally terminated, since she was not born at the time of the prior conviction. She is not listed on any of the CA court documents, which is why I think she fled to AZ to have Jhessye, "turn her over" to the cousins, then return to CA.

I'm not giving AZ CPS a 'bye' on the April 2011 report of abuse and inaction on their part. Just addressing Jhessye...

ETA: I guess I'm thinking from the cousin's perspective - that LE shows up and says Jhessye has to go with Jerice. They had no immediate legal recourse. :(

Hmmm. I wonder if that's what happened. Maybe the cousins weren't asking for the other kids to be returned, only Jhessye. :(

Either way I believe they could have removed her based on termination of parental rights to other children and the allegations being of the same nature as those that led to the termination of rights. And they should have removed the other kids based on the termination order.

http://www.azfamily.com/news/Search-volunteers-reflect-on-time-looking-for-Jhessye-134375743.html
hessye Shockley's disappearance rattled many people in the community and some of them felt compelled to act. They heard the girl's mother beg for help and dropped their lives to spend time looking or handing out fliers. In light of this week's arrest of Jerice Hunter, we tracked down two volunteers who say they feel betrayed, but would still do it all over again.

Glendale neighborhood stunned as missing girl's mom arrested
Residents who live in the area are left with questions. They aren't sure what to think. Some didn't see Hunter's arrest coming.

"I can't really believe it," neighbor Heather White said. "I don't think she did it. I'm still going to be looking for Jhessye."

Tuesday afternoon, police investigators swarmed a dirt field in Glendale near 99th Ave and Glendale. Glenn Johnson, a psychic, called police to the area. After a few hours of searching, officers made a discovery.

However, it was a false alarm. Glendale Police confirmed the remains were animal.

"We did find a bag that had some kinds of remains in it... they didn't think it was human," says Glenn Johnson. "We're going to keep looking. Somebody's going to find her. I do whatever I can to try to help."

Jerice Hunter Bond Request Turned Down by Bail Bondsman; Mom's 5-year-Old Still Missing, Believed Dead
http://blogs.phoenixnewtimes.com/valleyfever/
A Valley bail-bond company says it has denied an offer to write a bond for Jerice Hunter because her daughter is still missing and the bond amount is too low.
The operators of Regulator Bail Bonds, Inc., tweeted and Facebooked their displeasure last night, urging the state's other bail-bond companies to follow their lead.

"At the time of those convictions she had her parental rights severed and her children taken away," the prosecutor said. "She did get those children back. Not legally, but from her mother."

<snip>

CBS 5 news has learned that Child Protective Services had been out to Hunter's apartment - this past spring to investigate a complaint of possible child abuse, yet no formal action was taken.

<snip>

CBS 5 asked officials with CPS why Shockley and her siblings weren't removed from Hunter's home.

A CPS official said they could not comment on the case.

http://www.kpho.com/story/16106204/arrested-mother-should-have-never-had-kids-prosecutor-says

So: Jerice is convicted of child abuse/torture while pregnant with Jhessye. CPS places her already born children with Jerice's mother, Shirley Johnson. All this takes place in CA. Jerice goes to AZ where she has some cousins. She gives birrth to Jhessye, leaving her with one of the cousins, and goes back to CA to report for her sentencing. Jerice's parental rights are SEVERED by CPS and the courts.

Flash forward to Jerice's early release from prison. Grandmother Shirley Johnson hands over the children to Jerice, despite the severance. CPS continues to to blindly assume that the children are with grandma Shirley. It does not looking likely that any sort of checking in, home visits, follow ups, or anything at all were being done by CPS in CA to monitor how Grandma and the kids in her care were faring.

After collecting her children from Shirley Johnson in CA, Jerice moves them all to AZ, where she shows up at the cousins house demanding her baby (the now fourish Jhessye). The cousin is unable to proove her rights or claim to Jhessye as the arrangement was never a formal one is forced or intimidated into handing the child over.

Flash forward to April, 2011: A relative contacts AZ CPS with concerns that Jhessye is being abused (perhaps the cousin who raised Jhessye, unclear at this time). CPS goes to the home, and for whatever reason finds no evidence of abuse and does not seem to be aware that Jerice's parental rights were severed in CA and that none of those children should even be with her in the first place. No action is taken.

And now to today which finds us searching a landfill for a beautiful child that knew untold terror and torture at the hands of her own mother.

This one is gonna pizzz me off for a long long time.

I am listening to an old episode right now and Shirley is saying they need to investigate everybody in the area with a history of child abuse.

Yeah, starting from mom...

A while back, upthread, members discussed the need for a National Database listing children receiving financial state/government support. It sure wouldn't be difficult to set up. All babies born in this country are required to have a Social Security Number.
With that SSN being the identifier, all that would be needed is the county providing the benefits, and hopefully, the SSN of the person collecting those benefits to (hopefully)support the dependent children. This could also be a useful verification tool to track how many dependent children are claimed by 🤬🤬🤬-XX-XXXX..
If a child dies, ages out, that data is deleted to an inactive file.
With so much welfare fraud, this type of database would pay for itself in no time. The recipient needs to be aware that "whither thou goest we will go" and that collecting aid to dependent children through fraud is a crime and will be prosecuted.
IMHO

Valley church raises money for Jhessye's mother
http://www.abc15.com/dpp/news/regio...lley-church-raises-money-for-jhessye's-mother
The Christian Fellowship Church claims to have raised $3,000 of the $10,000 needed for Jerice Hunter’s bond, 10 percent of the total bond of $100,000.

“Glendale is trying to save face before Thanksgiving,” said Reverend Dr. Jeffrey Metcalff. “She will be exonerated of these charges.”

The reverend spoke outside the jail on Tuesday, joined by Hunter’s father. They both believe she is innocent.

Well, good for them. She is where she belongs, IMO.

From the link
A channel 15 (KNXV-TV) news report stated yesterday that a local church was trying to raise the 10 percent of the bond needed to free Hunter from jail.

Whyyyyy?
