Marigold, any news on where it was other than Tempe? I really hope they find something. This waiting game is getting to me, and it's just not fair for that sweet girl!

Umm, ok, whatever... Is she saying she killed Jhessye because she stole from her?

I'm sure it makes sense in her world... If you steal from people they will hurt you, they will kill you... so Mom might just as well hurt and kill you right now, to save some time.

Sadly, this [unusual] producer of Jhessye was still trying to excuse her beating of her naked daughter with an electrical cord, which landed her in prison all those years ago. If I rmember right that beating was adminstered because child had supposedly stolen.

This comment, to me, indicates that the Jerice who left prison and went to collect her kids, was still the same monster as before.

I've been following a lot of different cases. They all hit me hard and I have to limit myself at times. Thanks to all of you for keeping me up to date.

I hope the landfill search yields results. I wonder if the landfill stopped dumping in the area where it is suspected Jhessye could be.

All I know is that it would have been better if Jerice had tossed herself in the landfill instead of abusing her children.

Where is Tempe from Glendale? How did her precious little body get to Tempe? Does Jerice have family/friends in Tempe? How many people are covering up for this murderer and why???

  • #385
Jerice's attorney really rankles me. I get that is his job, to defend her, but how do you look at yourself in the mirror each morning knowing you are defending the indefensible?

I pray they find Jhessye at the landfill. Time to get this woman behind bars where she belongs.

Part of the article at the link says, ""We know a specific date that we believe the body was removed from the apartment made it's way over to a Tempe trash receptacle then removed on a specific day by a specific truck went to a transfer station was picked up by another specific truck and went to a specific location within the landfill," said Coombs."

A few things crossed my mind...
This isn't the first time I've heard it called a "trash receptacle". I wonder if jerice used a trash can at someone's home, instead of a dumpster?

Also, I wonder if they found any DNA or other incriminating evidence inside of the receptacle?

For what's it's worth Marigold, I have seen both receptacle and bin used in the news stories. But your point is a good one, our sweet Jhessye could have been placed in either type of container (residential or commercial).

Coombs was very specific in telling us how GPD concluded Jhessye got to the Butterfield Landfill. What I am mulling around is how they know this information. Did it come from a witness whose identity or very existence is being protected until charges are filed? Is there evidence that tells them jerice was in Tempe on a specific date before Jhessye was reported missing? Remember Donna Rossi told us that GPD is going to file charges against jerice at the conclusion of the landfill search, whether Jhessye is found or not. That says to me that they have at least some strength of evidence against her.

LE initially thought Jhessye was in a different landfill. It was much later that Coombs stated she was transported to Tempe and placed in a bin there. What was the timing of the announcement that she was taken to Tempe and the GPS devices being placed? Is there a clue we're missing here? Where does jerice's Father live, does anyone know?

I certainly hope they find Jhessye and bring her home to us! It makes me feel slightly better about this case that LE has said they can narrow down the timeframe she was taken from the house, and that they specifically mentioned Tempe. I wonder what else they know! :) It gives me hope, however remote, that justice might happen for this beautiful little girl.

Knox, it was 12/21/11 that GPD announced publically that they though Jhessye is in the Butterfield Landfill.
They got the info through Silent Witness (remember the Silent Witness reward $).
First article I have about it:

The GPS info came out (that I know of) 12/15/11.

As far as Jerice's father, I have to guess he lives in the Phoenix area. That is where Jerice was born. In her court papers from her 2006 jail time, it said he was a baggage handler at an airport. Dunno what the scoop is now.

IMHO....

In his own way, he can insure that Jhessye gets justice by providing Jerice with a competent defense. If he didn't make every effort to vigorously defend her, then she could possibly get her conviction overturned on appeal. A fair trial, with a very good defense attorney is the best hope in this case. People are so disgusted by her actions that it will be tough to seat a jury as it is. And all the carrying on about race that she and Shirley have done will probably raise it's ugly head again during the trial. Let her have a great attorney who is media savvy, and has a presence. That will give her nothing to whine about later that has any legal substance.

I think GPD has her nailed with the forensic evidence. Juries usually like that. And the 13 year old will tell her story as well, and it is heartbreaking. The prosecution will have a strong case. If they find Jhessye in the landfill, it will be difficult for Jerice and Maasen to defend how that child got there. GPD has something on Jerice about Tempe....and maybe even about the date Jhessye died... which won't be the same time she was reported missing.

When Jerice goes to prison, I want it to be just like what happened to Jhessye when she was imprisoned in that closet. I want Jerice's cell to be like that closet, and I want Jerice to stay in jail, living in despair, until she takes her last breath. I want her to know she has no hope of ever getting out, and that no one will rescue her.

Speaking of a good defense ... I wonder if the State Attorney's Office will pursue the death penalty? Given her prior history of abuse, it would seem they might? Personally, I would rather see her get LWOP.

Not sure if Maasen is DPC, but there is another Attorney in his firm that is. So I guess he could bring him in should they charge her that way. Seems like Maasen's specialty is DUI's. He sure pops up on Google that way. He is also licensed to practice law in California ... surprise, surprise. Guess that's why the creator of the monster chose him, it's a 2fer. Should she be charged with anything in California, he can represent her too.

Breeden said the information that has led police to consider a landfill search emerged after Hunter's November arrest on suspicion of felony child abuse. Police would not elaborate on the new leads, some of which came through Silent Witness, except to say they consider them reliable.
-and-
The attorney was also critical of the focus on Jhessye's mother, rather than on finding the girl. He has hired private investigators to aid in the search for Jhessye and said Hunter's primary interest is finding her.
Thank you ARW, all that came out when I was away from home at Christmas. Guess it didn't sink in, too many distractions.

Wonder if Maasen's PI's have found anything helpful for the prosecution yet?

This is one of those cases where I've had to stay out of the thread because it upset me so much and i can't offer anything without adding expletives. There isn't a corner of Hell miserable enough to provide the punishment these two women richly deserve. I'm so glad LE are putting so much effort into cracking this case. Jerice's date with the judge is not a matter of IF but WHEN.

I feel the same way RabidBager--that is why I can only briefly check in on this one. Ever since the siblings told the story of what happened, I couldn't stomach it.

My sincerest wish for Jhessye is that justice will be served and Jerice won't walk away on some technicality.

I certainly hope they find Jhessye and bring her home to us!

I'm so glad someone else said this..besides me. I think about the wee one every morning, as though she was my own :(
Even though work has kept me away, I read here daily from my phone..and very much want this case to get some heat under it. Jerice needs to be in jail for life. period. You can't fix something that has no soul.

Jhessye has stolen a lot of hearts here on WS....mine included. I have had a very difficult time with this case also, but somehow I feel the need to be here for our sweet little Butterfly Princess....to follow it through until she is found and Jerice is in jail.
Maybe I'm afraid Jerice and Shirley will pull another scam and get out of this if the public isn't watching them closely.

:bump: Bumping for Miss Jhessye.

Does anyone know how long the landfill search will take? Is there a time limit they will adhere to, such as if nothing is found within 2 weeks the search is called off? I hope it is quick and not too difficult on the volunteers. And I hope they can find enough evidence to put away Jerice for a long, long, LOONNNGGGGGG time!

I will be hoping and praying for Divine Guidance for the searchers as they make their way through that mountain of trash in the landfill. Since they will be at risk, a quick and successful resolution would be the best case scenario for all involved. I really am hoping that those brave and dedicated officers aren't out there digging in the trash for weeks and weeks. I hope they find Jhessye quickly, and can get themselves out of there and reduce their exposure to the landfill bio-hazards.

I hope Jerice is miserable.....waiting.....because she knows what jail is like.

Sorry to but in here... I remember they mentioned Tempe after the sibling confided in the foster parent... I had assumed that one of the siblings may have been with her when she did what she did in Tempe. Seems like she thought the other kids would cover for her actions... JMO of course.
