First-degree murder is the most serious degree of murder in the state and is punished as a Class 1 felony. First-degree murder is written in the law at A.R.S. 13-1105.
I have been following this case only sporadically over the past year but I have a question for those who’ve followed more closely:

Did LE do gunshot residue checks on both Lori and Alex, or did they take Alex’s word that it was Alex who fired all the shots that were fired at CV, so only did those checks on him?

I ask this because it seems to me LVD is fighting this case more intensely than she did the conspiracy (and related) cases involving the murders of her children. And all witnesses (other than LVD) to what actually happened in the murder of CV have since died (at least two with LVD’s participation) - Alex, Tylee, and possibly JJ. And LVD left the scene of the murder before LE was called and was gone for awhile - long enough to clean up and to firm up a story with Alex (by phone) and Tylee - before she returned to the scene with that huge duping grin.

ETA: interesting that CV recommended in his text that Adam take two devices with him to his planned visit to LVD at her home and that Adam set his phone on the counter while the second device recorded. Wouldn’t it be something if CV followed his own advice and was recording on a device other than his primary cellphone which LVD took when she left the scene after CV’s murder?!

Nate mentioned in one of his latest Courtroom Insider episodes that he used to be in frequent communication with Lori (presumably when she was in Idaho prison). I wonder if he regrets it, since it doesn't seem that he got anything out of it. She didn't even give him a public interview - she went for Keith.

I haven’t gotten up to speed on the murder of CV and attempted murder of BB yet . I’ve forgotten a lot of details, too. Once the children’s remains were found in Idaho there was SO much to keep up with ( as you all know). Just figuring out the family tree and all the parties involved!

I’m starting with this article and will be looking for others before opening statements next Monday 4/7. Will let you know if I see any answers about any GSR tests on LVD.

[…]

In June 2019, Charles reportedly confronted Lori about a letter she wrote in his name asking Daybell to visit Arizona and help him write a book.

"This discovery would send everything into action," police said.

Officials say that Charles asked Lori to come clean about her affair with Daybell or he would tell Tammy, Daybell's wife.

At this point, Charles allegedly began speaking with a brother of Lori and Alex Cox in order to plan an intervention the following month. Lori and Chad continued to discuss ‘Hiplos’ over text, but police say there was no obvious communication found that would suggest that Daybell had been directly involved in Charles' eventual murder.

When Lori discovered the plans for the intervention on July 9, 2019, she reached out to Alex and other unidentified people to warn them. She reportedly believed that Charles would be coming to kill her for life insurance money and asked Alex, along with other unidentified people, for protection.

"It's all coming to a head this week," Lori told Alex.

On July 11, Charles was shot by Alex Cox, who claimed he did it in self-defense.

After the murder, police say Lori took Charles' rental car and phone and returned an hour later. Officers alleged that Alex did not perform emergency aid and that "Charles would have laid dead or dying for approximately 43 minutes before Alex called 911."

Charles had been shot twice in the chest, and an autopsy report suggested that he had been laying down when the second shot was fired.

"Based on this investigation, it has been proven how valuable Alex Cox was to Lori," officials said. "His mission on this earth was to protect his sister."

11m clip from yesterday, regarding LVD's attempt to bar Nate Eaton from the courtroom.

4:57... the judge sighs, showing remarkable patience with the circus in blue blazer.

I see she has her make up and hair in style for the day but just seeing her cheesey grin in the corner of the screen , she just makes such a mockery of justice. Sorry but I can't stomach her anymore.

God bless guys like Hermosillo for seeing this through from first encounter with Lori and her self serving lies about the location and well-being of JJ (who had already been killed and buried in Chad’s yard), the discovery that Tylee too was missing and her disappearance unexplained, the rising questions and investigation that determined that Tammy’s death was also murder, and all the way to the final Idaho convictions that put both Chad and Lori where they belong relative to civil and innocent society.

I cannot begin to imagine the horror of realizing where the two kids were buried or the associated discovery that Chad and Alex had burned beautiful and innocent Tylee’s remains beyond recognition and that pajama-clad JJ had been asphyxiated, taped up, bagged, and buried like garbage. Thank goodness such men as Hermosillo discerned the lies, witnessed the horrors, and investigated the way to the truth so that Chad and Lori are being held accountable.

I hope Lori’s attempts to use her sexual appeal (blech!) to manipulate male jurors in her Arizona trial fail and for the second time in her life she is left with nothing but the truth to determine her fate. Justice for Charles and those who loved and appreciated him.

When asked about it, Nate tried to defend his communication with Lori. He said that it was before Dateline and that it made him change his opinion about her a bit. I hate to think that reporters have to suck up to criminals to get a scoop. He gave her the attention she craved and maybe that's why she wanted him to be her witness in the upcoming trial.

Ex FBI agent Doug Hart who testified in both Chad and Lori's trials told Nate that most of the communication between Lori and Chad before Charles' death was conducted via burner phones and was lost to police. Perhaps that's why Chad wasn't charged in Arizona. Hart was also critical of the Dateline interview with Lori. He thinks that Keith should have pushed back more. Her lies about Tylee were easy to refute with evidence presented at her trial.

I was okay with the Dateline interview. Keith gave Lori just enough rope to repeatedly hang herself by displaying how she operates.

Lori defends herself by claiming she (and Chad) are victim to media persecution, as though in a reasonable world the media and everyone else would ignore the unexplained disappearance of JJ and Tylee, the unlikely death of Tammy, and the double-shooting of Charles without question or inquiry. She was attentive to and sensitive in response to Keith's every (very careful) expression and was defensive in a bullying way (scoffing, accusing, challenging, dismissing). It would have done no good to challenge her with truths as she'd only have claimed that those truths were twisted so as to persecute her.

She gave Keith the same upturned chin and duping grin that she gave Kay Woodcock the first time she passed her in the courtroom in Idaho. She haughtily considers herself "above the law" - any law, whether it be the considerations of personal relationship (toward her children, her husband CV and those who loved him, her brothers other than Alex, her sister Summer, or her mother), the laws of society, or the laws of good and moral behavior. There is only "what Lori wants" that guides her beliefs and her behavior.

Yesterday, I listened to the phone call made between Lori's sister, Summer, and Lori from jail. In the face of Summer's expressed pain and disbelief that Lori could do what she had done and lie for months about it to family, Lori pulled the same garbage that she did with Keith. Claims to some "higher level" of understanding and being that lesser others just cannot understand. Easy lies. Accuse in response to being challenged to tell the truth.

There is no way Keith would have gotten anything true out of Lori Cox "something" "something" Ryan Vallow Daybell. Truth is a malleable currency to her - she will pound and polish it into whatever shape or luster Lori wants or needs it to be to get what she is after.

For those interested, the call between Summer and Lori - it is painful to listen to:
