opening statements underway. Prosecution is doing a great job reading text message between Alex and Lori. Bringing up people who were concerned about Charle's safety because of Lori's comments.

CV was on a date the night before he was killed. I didn't know that! He was moving on, she said.

"Alex Cox shot Charles Vallow. But LVD is the reason he's DEAD."

Prosecution's opening statement

47 minutes before 911 was called.

Alex claimed self defense but scene was staged, per the prosecution. Bat was on the wrong side. Charles threw and batted left handed.

No blood on the floor.

Never lost the sunglasses on his head. Despite the head injury he claims he got from Charles.

Welp.

One million dollar life insurance....

But LVD was not the beneficiary.

Burn.

LDV will give her statement after lunch (we're on a streaming delay)

Judge asks juror 3 to stay behind.

Thank you Megnut. They are breaking for lunch then Lori is up with her opening statement

Juror 3 has a problem with their employer who doesn't want them to serve on the jury. The judge is going to offer to talk to the employer. Prosecution wants the juror to stay.

The prosecutor did a very good job getting all the main details in. Lori will probably mention her own life insurance policy.

One point I wish had been left out - sunglasses on top of Alex's head. She notes that they were still on top of his head and the altercation did not move them.

Alex was in his bed prior to cv's arrival, I doubt he got up and put on sunglasses before confronting CV. More like he put them on before going outside to meet police.

I agree. Lord knows he had plenty of time to put them on his head between when CV was shot and when LE arrived in response to the 911 call (47 minutes plus 911 response time).

That 47 minutes speaks plenty without the weak attempt to suggest Alex grappled with and then shot CV while wearing sunglasses. Especially so when also considering the two calls exchanged with LVD during that time.

According to Nate, that juror has now been excused due to multiple issues.

HOW did that NOT come up before today?????

LVD's best bet is a mistrial by shrinking jury. Arguably it's her only bet.

Right but I doubt Lori will pick up on it. Maybe her defense team will. However, will Lori even listen to her helpers? She truly believes Jesus is on her side so why worry about what mere mortals have to say when Jesus is your co-counsel.

Plus, @Tricia, don't forget -- she's seen the future. What a burden it must be for her to know everything.

I'm no prophetess, but I have seen her future. Forget the tiki bars, she gets a lifetime of metal bars, hold the umbrellas.

I guess I interpreted the sunglasses to be problematic for the defense because either he had them on during the "altercation" or he put them on his injured head. I wouldn't put on sunglasses after a head injury. I've experienced 2 serious concussions and the idea of adding any weight to my head was nauseating and repellant, including something as light as a bandage.

I like that explanation, thank you for bringing it up!

I don’t know @Diddian and @nodamselindistress ….. I think it could ‘cut’ either way. And neither good for the fact that IMO from what I remember CV was basically ambushed.

One it could show that if those glasses did remain on AC throughout the entire ordeal, then it was clear that there was no altercation or threat and more likely IMO basically a one-sided matter where CV was shot dead. Or, if the glasses were later added…… then seems to be one calculated, calm, unassailable individual that has shot CV? Neither is IMO good for LVD or the late AC it seems? MOO

Good point. IMO both are true - CV was ambushed AND a calculating, calm, unassailable Alex sometime in the next 47 minutes or so placed the sunglasses on his head knowing LE would take him outside where he'd likely spend awhile in the hot July sunshine. No need to be uncomfortable.

Interesting that he'd take the time to put the sunglasses on, but not bother to grab a wet washcloth or icepack for his "injury."

See? This is why I wish she had left it out! We all saw those sunglasses on his head a million times and we all came to our own conclusions about when/why he put them on. Just leave it alone instead of trying to tell us he had them on so no altercation actually happened.
