This is why LVD is so damn dangerous. She can turn the crazy religous stuff on and off depending on her audience. Deep inside she believes all the crazy but she also knows it sounds crazy and when not to talk about it.
What makes her dangerous is that she believes the crazy, but also knows the laws and conventions of society, but because she thinks she's above it all, those are insignificant to her.

It's an important distinction to make. She's not so out of touch with reality that she doesn't understand. She does. She just doesn't care. And so, murder, even the murder of her own children, means nothing to her, except that she is relieved of the burden of parenthood but still benefits from the money she received. That's why her changing the account that Tylee's benefit was paid into from Tylee's account to her own shortly before we know Tylee was killed is so important. That's not the act of someone so delusional they don't understand the death of their child is permanent. That's the coldest most calculating act of welfare fraud of the kind we see committed by child killers and elder killers all over.

Being devoid of any kind of conscience or empathy makes her different in a way that makes her dangerous, but doesn't absolve her. Not caring when you kill someone isn't mitigating. And killing for your own convenience or gain certainly doesn't. It's a sign of premeditation and malice aforethought.

MOO

EDIT: Link about the fraud re: Tylee's benefits, here: Lori Daybell emptied daughter's bank account right after girl was last seen alive, officer says

I see it differently. IMO the "crazy religious stuff" is a tool adopted by LVD to gain power to manipulate others using their gullibility and fear about the state of the world around them. Just as the sexual appeal and sing-song cadence of her voice are tools to manipulate men and the tornado of talking and accusatory tones are tools to manipulate those who prefer to avoid conflict. She is a master at identifying and exploiting other people's vulnerabilities and weaknesses.

I think it likely that she saw the power Chad seemed to have over others with his stories about the coming end times and the chosen people and she wanted to share in that. And I do believe she had a particular inclination to have that in her life because when young she saw her own father as a "spiritual giant" and saw what she believed were the magnificent possibilities in having that power. IMO, the pursuit of that power and the adoption of the stories that would provide it is not the same thing as "religious delusions."

MOO and I do respect those who see it differently. We simply cannot know what is truly in her mind because we are reliant on her to tell us and she is a world-class liar.

But I do think it is a big "tell" that she is very selective about when and with whom she shares details. She has kept the truth about exactly what happened with JJ and Tylee within the small conspirator group (LVD, Chad, Alex) while lying to close others who shared in the doomsday teachings by implying that the kids were secured somewhere safe. (And more recently the lie has become "family tragedies" that include wrongdoing on Tylee's part.). She shared details with those people about fringe teachings while keeping the lid on those teachings with others who weren't part of those groups. And there don't seem to be any apparent signs that she was actually "preparing" as others in the fringe groups were - no building up of stores of food, charcoal, supplies. And she and Chad went off to Hawaii - rather than staying in Rexburg where these groups apparently believed the second coming or the preparation for it was to be.

To me, LVD uses the doomsday stuff like Manson used "Helter-Skelter." Neither really believed it; they both just saw the value of the power of those ideas in manipulating others and escaping accountability themselves.

I am catching up on the trial and I wonder if the jury had asked Kay "Why haven't you seen JJ since May 2019?" if the Judge would have allowed Kay to answer? Just so damn sad. Kay did SO well.

I love hearing different perspectives and that is a great one @Diddian :)

Arizona police body camera footage shows Charles pleading for Lori to receive mental health help at Community Bridges on Jan. 31. Officers determined she had a normal state of mind and she was medically cleared by Community Bridges.
Wow..I bookmarked the link.
A very useful trove of information to use as reference.

Thank you!

  • On May 12, a jury finds Lori guilty of first-degree murder of JJ and Tylee. She is also found guilty of conspiring to commit the murders of JJ, Tylee and Tammy and grand theft.

  • A few days after the verdict, a juror speaks with EastIdahoNews.com and says “if there was a face to evil, it was hers."

And Alex said Lori had left before the shot occurred. There were several contradictions between all 3 of their stories that day. Also, none of them could remember what Charles was supposedly yelling at them. Lori's demeanor was ridiculously jovial during her interview. It all should have raised flags for LE.
Of course AC was cleared due to acting in self-defense, eh?

I can't wait for the jury interviews after this trial. "When did you realize what kind of person you are dealing with?"

I’m hoping the State can bring in the texts of the affair and the previous deaths. We all know Lori and Chad ordered Alex to kill Charles because we have followed from day one.
But right now, I don’t see how the prosecution has brought Lori into the conspiracy to kill Charles. To begin with, Chandler PD blew this case and now it appears to me that the prosecution isn’t even prepared.
Does anyone else doubt they will get a conviction?
And Melani Pawlowski and Melanie Gibb and ZulemaPastenes, why aren’t they testifying? Makes no sense!
I’ve heard some speculate that there may be charges yet coming against MBP for the attempt on BB or against any of them for their involvement in either of these AZ cases. I don’t know if that will ever happen and I’m not sure what I think about their involvement but I think that the state bought in enough they didn’t need MBP or ZP. But I think they made a mistake by not calling MG who could have testified that she was at LVD’s on the 10th and thought she was spending the night and then out of the blue LVD told her she had to leave because AC was coming to spend the night instead. To me that clearly points to LVD & AC conspiring together. So I am very puzzled that they left her off the witness list.

I think you’re spot on here.

CV referred to the money LVD took, curious just how much?
She wasn't employeed and kept taking off and living/renting (s) elsewhere.
Did Daybell support her or maybe unbeknownst to CV he was supporting Daybell too?
imo

imo
It’s been a while and someone correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t over $30k? As for CD he never supported anyone including his own family - Tammy did the majority of that. As I recall LVD even paid for his plane tickets to come see her before she moved to Rexburg.

IMO, MG did not have enough information that would not fall under hearsay. In Charles' murder Lori only seemed to have kept Chad and MBP in the loop. For everyone else they pretended it was self defense.

Thank you and it's not at all surprising.
Many of these new age so-called enlightened ones suffer from extreme cases of entitlement.
Imo.

IIRC, it was revealed at his trial that Tammy earned very little.

I was glad Kay got that in and someone - was it Adam? Or maybe one of the LE officers? Anyway someone referenced the Idaho case. But…if I’d never heard about LVD I don’t think Kay not seeing JJ or LVD having another case of some type in Idaho would ever make me think that LVD had killed Tylee & JJ. I’m not sure what the jurors are thinking after hearing about another case or that Kay hasn’t seen JJ since 2018 but whatever they are thinking cannot possibly be as horrible as reality.

Which piece of evidence authored by Lori will be the most damning for her? "You will be like Nephi" or "He must have changed it before we got rid of him"?
