I wonder WHY Brandon's case does not have "attempted" murder??

  • #162
Still surprised that Lori's niece, Brandon's wife, isn't a co-conspirator being tried right along with her. JM
My thoughts from the get go.
That woman is guilty of a number of things. jmo. imo. moo.

"Interesting connection for trial junkies - the prosecutor in Lori's Maricopa County case for the murder of Charles Vallow is #JodiArias prosecutor Juan Martinez's girlfriend, Treena Kay. (I believe they are still together)."

I have always been against the DP, but when I think of what they did to those poor kids, I don't think I would object in this case.
I know just how you feel.

All the peculiar typos/omissions coming from AZ have me wondering, on one hand, about their competence and on the other, if there is something surprising afoot.

Yes, a lot of typos on the site. And late in updating it too.

Why is there still such confusion over her legal name? The judge calls her Lori Vallow. The charges are written as against Lori Vallow. When asked her name, she says Lori Vallow Daybell. In the scheme of things, I know it is not important. But I do like for things to be correct, especially in a legal setting.

I guess it’s possible she didn’t officially take CD’s surname when they married. Or maybe there was some legal glitch in their marriage. Anybody know? I recall she requested to be referred to as Ms/Mrs. (I forget which) Daybell in early court appearances and that request was only occasionally honored.

I can’t find anything on whether she filed the name change with the Social Security Administration or the State of Idaho. Justin Lum did post a copy of the Hawaii marriage certificate on twitter - I think in 2021 - and it did show Daybell as the Bride’s declared surname. However, our legal identities are usually tied to our SS & DL #s and many states require an actual name change form to be filed to get the name changed on a DL. And the SS Admin requires a form for a name change to issue a new SS Card - same number but changing the last name. If her DL and/or SS Card still showed Vallow that may be why the courts are unclear regarding whether or not to use the last name of Daybell.

LVD & CD came back to Idaho at some point after the wedding and didn‘t “move” to Hawaii until after leaving Idaho - after the welfare check on JJ and I think after the Dec trip to Knottsberry Farm with the Daybell children. So I think Idaho would be the state that she should have changed her DL in but not sure she ever did and do not know whether she got a Hawaii DL after they ”moved” there as they were only in Hawaii a couple of months before she was arrested and brought back to Idaho. But I think the real question is whether she ever had the SS card changed to Daybell - and whether she did that before her first appearance - as I suspect her attorneys may have helped her file that if she had not already done so. If it was never changed with SS or changed after the first charges and court appearances, this could certainly account for the confusion on her legal name.

"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" said Shakespeare. He could have added that a turd by any other name would smell as foul.

I suppose they have styled the case:

State vs. Lori N. Vallow, Defendants (plural), on account of all of her different personalities? Or, all of her different names?

I would like all of her last names mentioned.

Thank you. I remember seeing the marriage certificate here, now that you mention it. As to all the other things she’d have had to change, I’m guessing she was too busy being a goddess to deal with all that mundane stuff.

The name used on these docs simply reflects the reality of who she was when the crimes occurred.

When LVD lived in AZ, she was Lori Vallow (not Daybell). When LVD committed all these AZ conspiracy-to-murder crimes, she was Lori Vallow (not Daybell). LE investigated the actions of the person known to them as Lori Vallow. Anyone who interacted with her in AZ (and who may be testifying) knew her as Lori Vallow. She has never been known as Lori Daybell in AZ.

(In fact, later on when she committed all the murders in ID, she was still Lori Vallow, not Daybell.)

In these AZ proceedings, if the defense wishes to have the documents and references amended to also use the name Daybell, then it's likely they will petition the court at some point. But we are still very early in that trial process.

Your explanation makes sense, but the courts don't recognize her married name then even if she did change it?

Oh how nice! Hopefully she will be as good as Juan! :D
I have heard that she is very good, and with Juan in the shadows, how could she not be? Perhaps instead of Juanette's we could be Treenette's. LOL

Makes me want to put out an APB for KCL and bribe her to be our resident courtroom spy. (I forgot she lives far away from there now) I sure do miss her and many others. :(

Absolutely. All very clear. I’m afraid I was glancing over my shoulder at the early Idaho mishegas. I must remember not to do that over here!
