I think these insanity issues with criminals are usually a ploy to avoid punishment. But I don't think that's what's happening here at all. LVD was already found truly nutso more than once, and from various accounts, it seems like she's really having ongoing issues with knowing reality on a day to day basis.

While I don't find sympathy for her actions at all (and I think she deserved the DP), I do think she deserves to be treated with concern and get suitable treatment while receiving the punushent she has worked for.

And today’s filing by the Court now indicates that Lori had requested back on 10/16 to waive her right to counsel and sought to represent herself.

The Court wrote that they’re deferring that decision until after the examination under Rule 11 occurs.

Does this mean they’re doing the mental health review yo determine if she’s fit to represent herself? I guess the answer to that is patently obvious, but the law requires certain procedures be followed?

I believe all of the specifics for her previous attorneys’ request for the examination are only known to the Court (not to us in the public), but I would guess based on the timing of her request it may be something she’s asked about as part of that examination…like if/why she feels she is better off representing herself than any attorney, etc.

I guess we shall (eventually) see once the findings get back to the Court and they make some determination from there. JMO

There is no way this is going to happen. For one, I don't see a goddess conforming to the rules that govern a courtroom.

She sees it as a giant podium to stand on while she talks and talks the way she wants and about what she wants.

Oh, she's intelligent enough, I grant you, but you see people who have been lawyers for years struggle at times to phrase a question that passes muster with both opposing counsel and the judge. And that's not even going into drafting motions.

I know she gets a real lawyer advising her to help her out, but the problem is, Lori doesn't like anyone telling her what to do, and she is erratic and manic and convinced she's the centre of the universe.

It's going to be a stretch limo clown car on fire if this actually goes to trial with her handling her own representation.
