How clever that you remembered about the Google Cache, geevee. Thanks.

I wonder why JM didn't want Goita Kostis questioned???? She was a witness, even tho' she is a criminal.

YW :) The google cache was a real 'duh' moment for me. lol

It's going to be hard to not get confused between Goita K. (Kostas or Kostis, it's spelled both ways in different minute entries, as well as being called a he and she) and Officer Goitia, both are witnesses with wholly different objectives, she has legal troubles that it seemed to me the State wanted to deal with, or not get thrown out because of this trial (the minutes were a little confusing to me on exactly who wanted what and why). I doubt we'll get a great deal of clarification during the trial but maybe a sharp reporter will lay it all out so we can understand.

From Geevee's link: http://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/MediaRelationsDepartment/HighProfileList/hplSelectItem.asp

Court date: 5/12/2014 @ 1:30 Case #: CR2007-111635
Case event: Jury Selection Camera ruling: Pending
Judge: Joseph Kreamer Prosecutor: Juan Martinez
Defendant: Bryan Hulsey Defense attorney: Michael Reeves
Case notes: Bryan Hulsey is charged with one count of first degree murder, one count of aggravated assault and one count of misconduct involving weapons for allegedly shooting and killing Glendale Police Officer Anthony Holly during a traffic stop.

Have an appointment in town today, probably not going to be back till about 2:30 Az time..........but...........hey, it's Arizona!!!! Bawahahaha! What possibly can happen in an hour if the court starts on time? Maybe they'll get #'s assigned to the prospective jurors? I just might mosey past the Dairy Queen in town on the way back and pick up a caramel frappacinno...nothing like driving, chillin' and watching the cattle, antelope, and endless range land.

Arizona is just "chilled out".......as long as we take it slow, things tend to work out. :floorlaugh:

Can't imagine how time consuming it's going to be impaneling the jury for CMJA's penalty phase.

Yeah, I don't expect this jury empanelling to take as long as hers will (unless of course Hulsey himself gets the up or down vote on every single one). :scared:

P.S. Did they change the time to begin? The docket has 10:30 AZ time, I'll go look at the last minute entry and see if there's a mention of that.

ETA: The last entry of 4/17/14 still has the time set for 10:30 a.m., guess we'll see when it actually starts. I've been waiting for an m.e. of that final management conference since so much seemed to be resolved but none has shown up yet.

Could be a typo, 1:30, 10:30...........:scared:

I remember back at CMJA trial and sometimes 10:30 = 1:30---can never really tell! :scared::floorlaugh:

Considering how the defendant has behaved throughout the course of this, it could be as much of a circus as that one, too.

Hello WS Friends,
:seeya:
Exchanged a few tweets with Jen (Trial Diaries). Told her that certain Juan Martinez fans on WS are following her tweets and she says "Thanks". She thinks jury selection will take two weeks, but will be tweeting from courtroom when trial starts. She says she will tweet news re cameras in courtroom as soon as she learns judge's ruling. Defense objects to live stream as you know.

Finally, I was starting to wonder if he'd found a new and novel way to throw another monkey wrench into the trial getting underway.

3 weeks?!?!?!?

:tantrum:

Well, it gives me a lot of time to get stuff done around here before the temps get WARM! June is the hottest month in Arizona, burn the ol' AC up, dig out the ol' ice trays, and the summer clothes! Have no issue sitting at the 'puter in June.

Well, we ARE 20 degrees +/- cooler than Phoenix, but I'm not into those 100+ temps anymore! :floorlaugh:

The second and third weeks of June will be 100+ here in Cruces. But, as a transplant from Massachusetts, I love the southwest climate.

Already, some of my favorite WS Friends are on this thread. Looking forward to spending the month of June with ya'll.

What's a Shanks?

Google "Prison made zip guns". The whole "Necessity is the Mother of Invention". Similar tube and pin type devices where used in Viet Nam, placed in the ground, and called "Toe Poppers".

Paper has successfully been made into shanks/shivs, too. More time consuming, but it is done.

My 1st ex (seriously, I should write a book this is getting so ridiculous) was shanked down in Florence in the late 70's. He was in the mess hall eating and an inmate from the AB (Aryan Brotherhood) came up behind. He doesn't know where the intended target was, it went in through his upper cheek, deflected off his cheek bone, coursed downward, and exited below his inner jaw bone on that same side.
We had a roomate who had done time in Huntsville, Texas, who ended up in Florence. He found Jesus (seems to be the best place to find him) after a few years, and decided to leave the AB, they put a hit on him, he repeatedly told the guards who didn't do anything, and he lost his eye to a zip gun. He sued ADOC and walked out of Florence with a very large chunk of change.

The 6 years I was married to the 1st ex, in which he was not in a correctional facility, rehab, or jail, was somewhere around 3 years, was probably the experiences of 3 lifetimes. 2 of those 6 years I was trying to divorce him. :banghead:
