AZ-Pandora Kjolsrud, 18 and Evan Clark, 17-Found shot to death in Maricopa County -May 27, 2025

Yes, but they've not come out and said that.

"At this time" means they might change their minds later.

"being treated as suspicious" doesn't mean they are suspicious, just "being treated" that way.

This was published in the New York Times 2 days ago...to me, it indicates they have doubts or they wouldn't be hedging their comments like that...
“At this time, the circumstances surrounding their deaths are being treated as suspicious,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement, adding that they were treating the killings as homicides.

Hmmm like an Incel?
I think that would be a good description of the murderer in a "jealous rage" scenario.

There might be ways to screen for such a person. Cell phone reception maybe bad in the area, but I wonder if there is a "choke point" of the last area with good cell phone reception. Maybe....

- Screen for non local phones hitting that tower.
- "Female phones" are out.
- "Male phones" that appear to be accompanied by a "female phone(s)" are out.
- Solo "Male phones" with social media content showing girl friends, wives, or "hanging with the girls" type fun are also out.
- Solo Male phones with social media indicating none of the preceding and a bad attitude towards say, what the owner calls "Snooty Bs"- or just a bad attitude towards females in general are in.

Just bouncing off your post - I don’t live in the USA - but is there not a way for law enforcement to track all cell phones that were in the vicinity of the murders over the Memorial Day weekend?

I could be wrong but I seem to remember this tactic being used in the Daybell case to pinpoint Alex Cox being on or around the Daybell home in Idaho.

Looked up a few unsolved murders near Evan and Pandora this year. I need a break from work.

(A) Emily Pike. Last known sighting of 14-year-old Emily Pike, who was last seen near Mesa Drive and McKellips Road in Mesa was on Jan. 27, 2025. Deputies say the disturbing discovery of Emily was made off the U.S. 60 highway, a few miles away from the Jackson Butte Recreation area, which is about 19 miles from Globe, on Feb. 14. Grapic details: Detectives found the head and torso in large contractor trash bags and the legs were found in separate bags. GCSO said that after searching the area, detectives couldn’t find the arms and hands. The preliminary autopsy results found the girl had visible face and head trauma. FBI is involved.

(B) William "Bill" Schonemann, 76, was found dead inside his New River home on April 28, 2025 at around 7:30 p.m near 13th Avenue and Circle Mountain Road. He was a well-known pastor at New River Bible Chapel. Multiple sources say he was found on the bed with his arms spread out and hands pinned to the wall. He also appeared to have significant injuries.

From the last known sighting of Emily Pike to William Schonemann's home address is a 55 minute drive. From Schonemann's address to around area the two teenagers were found, Evan Clark and Pandora Kjolsrud is around an hour and a half drive.
Found another unsolved murder case. Yes, decades prior and about 2 hours and change away

So, it's more difficult to do this bc of te

Eh, it requires multiple towers for it to work out, the triangulation. They were camping somewhere rural correct? Then it can't be as accurate with fewer towers. Cell phone towers can't really effectively pinpoint exact location, it's used to narrow down location, so with the other case it was easier to pinpoint say one suspect's phone through the day, than say every single cell phone because these towers usually cover large areas and weren't necessarily built for triangulation purposes. One would be pulling such a large array of data it wouldn't narrow down the field imo.

Or couldn’t it be just the opposite of what you suggest? It’s so rural that not many phones are pinging the tower so easier to pinpoint who was in the area?

Google the Kristi Cornwell case out of Georgia. Her brother found her body and that was many years ago.

Because Kristi Cornwell was one cell phone, one person. Same as Daybell. They asked to pinpoint all the people in the vicinity of the murder that used the towers, it would be such a giant array of different pings because cell phone towers cover large areas of land.

Why so little information on this case? It seems really alarming. A very serious crime to two young people. I assume it’s because LE knows what happened and is getting everything in a row to make a move, but it feels very worrying that there could be a murderer on the loose out there.

MCSO does not currently have a suspect.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have a suspect at this point,” Sheriff Sheridan told ABC15.

“That’s a pretty remote area. But there were other campers around, somebody saw something. So please let us know. Because the death of these two young kids is pretty tragic.”

Seven towers, one specifically covers Mt. Ord. Not an expert, but it would seem that based on what I've seen in many other cases, this is not an impossible task. Cell tower dumps, particularly in these type of areas, could yield clues.

On Friday, Maricopa County Sheriff Jerry Sheridan reiterated his plea for the public to report anything unusual they might have seen in the Mount Ord area over Memorial Day weekend.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have a suspect at this point,” Sheriff Sheridan told ABC15. “That’s a pretty remote area. But there were other campers around, somebody saw something. So please let us know. Because the death of these two young kids is pretty tragic.”

Cell phone dumps have been found to be unconstitutional in several states because of privacy concerns. With seven different towers, again, it would net such a giant field of data it would be near impossible to triangulate. On top of it being such a large field of data, privacy concerns, the investigation force would have to issue a warrant to all 7 different corporate owners of those towers, and if that is granted, one would need a very advanced algorithm driven software, I hope this is what they would use because those linear algebra/vector/matrix calculations would be quite tedious. All I'm saying is it works with a few suspects but it's more difficult with a population, even rural.

Welcome to WS & this case!

Just an FYI - if you quote an article you will need to put links to them here also. Just @Knox did. And she "might" have posted the article that you DID quote! :)
