I never got a response from the reporter. I gave him more than a week because he might have been on vacay or something.

You know every once in a while a reporter won't respond to an inquiry. I find that unprofessional JMHO.

I sent a simple straightforward What, when, why, where email of about 3 sentences and he ignored it. I hate when they do that. Heck send me an email with just three letters.

Hah. maybe someone else can have better luck tracking down a reporter?

Kat, I wrote AzCentral also. Not a word. I'm going to try my local news people now. We aren't that close (about 100 miles away) but maybe someone will follow up.

IMHO, Charity is the last person who should hold up this funeral. Before you know it, she'll be putting up a cage around the plot (if she ever gets around to it). There was a case about that awhile back - forgot the childs name.

Anyway, Charity-I-Gave-My-Baby-Away-Newton shouldn't receive a dime, and let the funeral home lay Sylar to rest.

I'm not getting any response and since it looks like others here are experiencing the same thing I'm just wondering if anyone here has gotten any kind of reply.... TIA

I guess it would be inappropriate to email the Westcott Funeral Home. I'm tempted but have refrained.

Looking at his F/B page, there isn't even any mention recently about any type of funeral arrangements, yet they are having all kinds of other events.

Very frustrating. Sylar's story was what led me to stumble upon Webslueths. Have been a member since they were looking for him. Just would love to see this child laid to rest and those 2 women punished for their crimes.

The "next of kin" said he had been released.

I can see not releasing him because what if the defense wants to do another autopsy?

At that point... you just do a funeral anyway. Then, you can have a private service once you get the body. Look at the families who never find the body.

I will contact my Aunt and Uncle to ask them if they have any tips on who to contact and how to get a response.

Normally I would just ask them to pick up the phone and call, because they could get an interview set up in a few hours.
However, these people offered a completely free funeral, urn, headstone, even a place to stay... everything... and it just wasn't good enough.

After seeing the fund raising and knowing there was no need for it, I don't completely trust what they would say if they contacted a reporter directly. They wouldn't say they offered this... but they might say someone did and they might give their *ahem* colorful opinion of the situation.

They just did another free funeral for a 2 year old boy who died accidentally... even though the funeral was 45 minutes from where most of the family lived... and his adopted and biological parents couldn't thank them enough. They were unbelievably grateful. My Aunt and Uncle pointed out the stark contrast between the two situations. It brought up Sylar all over again for them.

I can't get onto the county website to see when they were in court last.

I went back and reread some articles from feb of this year and at that time Priem lawyer had resigned and she was given a public defender and that public defender was complaining about discovery issues...etc. I'm sure the link is back thread.

Okay so---the charges as they stand (unless they've been changed) in regard to Sylar are abuse and drugs yes?

Then why is it taking so long? Surely they have had time to rerun their own tests and the ME could collect further samples to hold in reserve in case an issue with the tests came up. It's not uncommon to release the body before the trial starts. I don't get this. JMHO

Kat, I don't either. I've been reading and reading about ME's holding a body and so far none for over a year unless no next of kin can be identified to release the body to. hmmm

I'm sure there could be other reasons like a murder charge added onto Priem's abuse charges. But to hold a body over a year, I'm still searching ME sites where a body has been kept that long and I just come up with no next of kin...maybe someone else will have luck.

Was this child part of child trafficking? Oh..C had 4 children, didn't keep any of them..Sylar hasn't been laid to rest or released from the ME per the funeral person (nice person btw), maybe Sylar's not C's child either or she was a baby spitting machine for money, getting it now. wow Just pondering. That might explain why he's still with the ME. There's way more angles on this possibly. Hope others follow & post xoxo RIP Sylar.

The foundation people have done the best they can with what they have to honor little Sylar. They still have the money set aside for a headstone for when he is released.
They were really frustrated that a year went by and he had not been released. They decided to hold a memorial for him for the 1 year anniversary. They invited the entire community. About 30 people showed up. Everybody took turns sharing about how little Sylar touched thier lives. Most of the people there had never known him in life.
Then they shared about what they have done in the past year to help other kids in memory of Sylar, then they did a bit of sharing what should be done to prevent child abuse.

Charity did not show up, and they were pretty upset about that, but the in the end decided to say "Today is about Sylar, not Charity."

It's really obvious that his biological family for the most part doesn't give a dang. These strangers have teamed up to make a non profit, and they seem to be the only ones who have ever tried to do right by Sylar.

Thanks, I have been reading this thread from the beginning, but just now created an account.

It's so aggravating to me that it HAD to take these strangers to honor him. His "so called" "family" hasn't done squat. :sick:
Oh and I saw some people talking about trying to get the media to do something. Good luck! The foundation people tried getting the news stations and newspapers to help advertise for the memorial and no one was willing to advertise it. The newspaper said they would come out and do a story to publish after, but they never showed.
The others didn't even care enough to mention it had been a year in their Monday broadcast.
