Not one neighbor saw the boy shoot Mr. Romans outside either (guess they didn't look out the window when the shots were heard). The confession doesn't matter. He told more than one tale, didn't he. Which tale should we believe?

No, sounds like this gun really wasn't all that loud. Guess they may have first thought it was firecrackers going off and then decided afterward to get up and check it out.

It won't be about what tale or not. Many times it isn't the confessing part that gets a defendant because they may half way deny it at times anyway and only give snippets to LE but it is their little slip ups that they didn't realize they told, where the evidence will show the real facts that doesn't comport with what they said happened.

The neighbors directly across the street heard several shots according to the "Transcript of Detained Advisory Hearing Nov 2 2008_Vol1 PartA

  • #703
Didn't the transcripts say only two neighbors heard the shots?

  • #704
Yes, this crime was committed in a very flat, visually unobstructed area. The houses are pretty close together. You can clearly see your close neighbors homes. It was a sunny day. Noise levels were low (no factories, no interstate traffic). Some people heard shots and didn't even look out their windows. I'm not saying it's impossible. Just unusual.
Again, .22LF reports are at the db level of a car horn.
Where I live the neighbors look out the window when a car starts. And stare if a horn blows.

OL, they are your words... stepmom was the first to point the finger at the boy. I really don't think you can back them up. I have followed this case from the begining and I think you are wrong. If you stand by your words show the link.

I recall in one of the reports of the grandmother saying "she knew this would happen", that she made the reference and was quoted as saying "and she knew it, too" referring to the step mom. I am waaaayyyy paraphrasing & am not good at finding the right links, but I do remember reading that at one point. If I come across that, I'll post it.

Total BS, the stepmother has not come out against the boy. I have followed this case the stepmother has NOT made a statement against the boy PERIOD.
Here is what was said by grandma...

"I knew this would happen," she said. "They were too hard on (the boy). I knew (the boy) did it. He spent the night in my bed cuddling up to me. I had a feeling he did it. If any 8-year-old boy is capable of doing this, it's (the boy)."

Nothing about stepmom.

"might be innocent". Is that what the public defender said? Wouldn't they know if it is or it isn't with it being a month later?

Apparantly a representative of the office did, yes.

Here's the link and the snip from my paraphrased attempt earlier. This was posted 11/22

Snip ~
Mara Siegel, a Maricopa County deputy juvenile public defender who is working with the defense team in this case, said there is reason to believe that the boy didn't kill his father and another man. But she can't talk about it.

Where we live is not that great. But I am grateful to have a roof over our heads. If it sounds like guns shots in my neighborhood. It is.Not too long ago the guys who lived across the street were arrested for killing someone and putting the guys body behind the dumpster in the next apartment over.It was drug related. We had drug dealers living right across the street with my kids playing on the playground and we didn't know it.Crime scene van was there all day the 4th of july before last.It is very scary. We just don't go out at night and we are ok.

Ya know, you don't have to be rude when you respond. I pointed out my weakness in the response I posted and that I would try to find what I was remembering and that I had paraphrased.

After reading some of the court transcripts, i won't be surprised if the whole case gets throw out whether or not the boy killed them.

No, they are not my words. I have not, nor ever have, made up a statement. I do not have to back up by providing a link that you yourself can find as I did. This has never been a challenge. Please, do not make it one.

I'm not trying to make it a challenge. I just think if you are telling us that the stepmom said something you should be able to back it up. Here is your quote:

Don't know about Mrs. Romero pointing her finger at the boy but I do recall reading that Liz Castillo (Grandma) said, "Tiffany thinks so to". (Regarding the boy being capable of doing the murders).
This isn't in Chief Melnicks report (supplemental report #4) though. Maybe it's in one of the other reports from another officer.

Tiffany Romero did arrive at the crime scene not long after LE. She was driving a green jeep registered to Mr. Roman's wife, Tonya. She hugged the boy and began crying. Then the boy started crying.

Actually I thought it was Tim's wife that first pointed the finger at the boy? Didn't she say she heard him calling Tim while she was talking to him on the phone?

I'd like to see it. But it's still not stepmom pointing the first finger...I have not read anything such as that.

She said this? Please let me know where you found this if you find it.

Mrs Romans said that the boy must know something, not that he "did it". This made the police talk to the boy again to see why he called Mr Romans into the home. From there they got his confession.

Oh, boy. Finding a quote regarding this case is like peeling an onion at Outback Steakhouse. But I'll try.
