GUILTY Bali - Aussie Schapelle Corby, 27, convicted of drug smuggling, 2005

  • #221
Their behaviour constantly baffles me! I just don't get it?

Why would you take the risk and let
Mercedes do the interview? And her comment that the drugs could have come from Indonesia? WTF? Inflammatory much? Completely going against parole conditions!
I'm merely speculating here, but all I can think of is that maybe there was some money in it for Mercedes... some sort of undisclosed 'secret' amount? Can they do that and not have to tell Corby's parole people?

I keep getting the impression that the family is cashing into anything they can just for the sake of money rather than much about Corby's well being... It appears to me over the years of reading stuff that money and how much they can make is what Corby and the family are about... ?

Here we go again... hmmm....

As calls grow for Schapelle Corby to be sent back to jail in Bali, the head of the local corrections board says he has information Channel Seven paid for the luxury villa where she spent her first three weeks of freedom.

Sunar Agus said his officers were actively working to find the truth about how much the bill was for the four bedroom villa in Sentosa and whether Schapelle Corby profited from her stay.

This is getting more bizzare by the hour... Wonder where all this will eventually lead to...

Schapelle Corby is struggling mentally, is stressed and sometimes locks herself in the toilet for a whole day, according to her brother in law.

Wayan Widyartha today pleaded with the media to back off from his family’s Kuta compound where Corby is now living, admitting that she had attempted self harm earlier this week.

Mr Widyartha said Corby was stressed by the media, could not venture out for fear of being followed by cameras and still required medication for her depression.

I thought I heard last of this case. A turn for the crazy.

More dramatics huh? You know maybe she should go back into the jail, it seems like she is not ready to face the realities of her release just yet. There is something really wrong with this entire family in regards to accepting the authority of the Indonesian officials. They are lucky Schapelle was released, yet they show no gratitude whatsoever. They just need to stop reacting so hysterically to every change in circumstance and calm the h*ll down, I know their mother set a bad example in the way she acts, but that does not mean that the daughters can not know better, they must have seen people behave better in life and realise that the way they act is ridiculous?

Mr Syamsuddin said that if his office decides to revoke Corby’s parole it would be her family’s fault.

The Corby case had severely tested his patience, he said.

The normally mild-mannered minister said the Corby family did not appear to be grateful for what they had already received — her release on parole despite political and domestic pressure on him not to grant it.

______

He told the newspaper that the interview by Mercedes had made the family look like they had never said thank you or been grateful for what they already had.

“If we are finally forced to take the decision (to revoke the parole), this is not removed from the family’s responsibility, which in my opinion, they didn’t show their concern to what we have faced,” Mr Syamsuddin said.

•Mercedes says sorry for interview

It is also understood that the group discussed the fact that the luxury Sentosa Seminyak villas, where Corby spent her first three weeks of freedom, was paid for by the Seven Network.

They discussed the fact that “a third party” had paid and whether this constituted payment to the Corby family for their story

Apology? A little too late.

Banshee sister wanted the media's attention and she got it albeit detrimental to her sister's welfare but this family don't seem to think of consequences, do they?
I honestly feel Shapelle is safer inside the prison because her family is her worst enemy at this moment.
The knife incident was a tantrum not wanting to go back to prison.

Other words for 'payment'?

TWO members of the Australian media pack covering Schapelle Corby’s release are being deported from Bali for visa violations.

Indonesian Immigration Department officials have accused Network Ten reporter Daniel Sutton and freelance photographer Nathan Richter of violating Indonesian Immigration law article number 122 by working as journalists in the country while on tourist visas.

Officials announced the deportations at a press conference in Bali today.

Schapelle Corby pictured with wedding ring.

Schapelle Corby married her Indonesian boyfriend in a secret ceremony last year, according to rumours circulating in Bali's Kerobokan Prison.

A prison source told The Weekly that Australia's most famous drug smuggler wed her boyfriend, Indonesian national and former Kerobokan inmate, Ben Panangian in a private ceremony inside the jail, presided over by a marriage celebrant, at which only Mercedes Corby and a close friend of the groom were present.

In a candid photo of a woman believed to be Schapelle obtained exclusively for The Weekly and taken in Kerobokan Prison in July last year, a gold band can clearly be seen on her wedding finger.

I'm not sure if this has been posted, it shows pic of luxury apartment.

Schapelle will be 'haunted' until she has the opportunity to speak: Mercedes Corby. Schapelle Corby needs to do an interview with the Seven Network because it’s the only way she can “get her life back” and protect her from other journalists, according to sister Mercedes.
“We feel such an interview is much needed by Schapelle, so she can focus on her freedom and get her life back,” the undated letter says.

A member of the Bali Nine says he is "angry" with the Corbys for their handling of Schapelle's first weeks of freedom saying it could work against Australians imprisoned in Indonesia.
While Mercedes' interview may have imperilled Schapelle's parole, Stephens claims it could also hurt his chances of a sentence reduction.
He also claims inmates from other foreign countries are complaining that the Corbys had "sold out all foreigners in the Indonesian system, not just me".

INDONESIAN authorities are examining who paid for the luxury villa Schapelle Corby stayed in while the Seven Network negotiated the TV program that could ultimately result in her parole being revoked.

Mr Syamsuddin, who is campaigning for re-election at next month's polls, is under public pressure to punish Corby for the TV program.

Looks like the Corby's have learned a lesson to lie low & just shut up. Or are they quietly enjoying their spoils.

I'm not sure what I think about this... I hate that it gives Schapelle more air time , but it also makes me LOL a bit!

I wonder, it's a story that's been around for a long time, so did Schapelle really tell Renne this, or is Renee just using that story and saying Schapelle said it for her own reasons? Either way I believe it is the truth. I bet the Corby's are beside themselves tonight. Enjoyed the claims about Schapelle's faked mental illness too.

If I recall correctly, in the book Sins of the Father, it was suggested by someone close to corby that her only chance at getting out of prison was to fake a mental illness.
