I don't have pity for HM, she, IMO, killed her mom, didn't respect her mom what-so-ever. She killed her in a foreign country so she gets what she deserves. I'm sorry, I really don't feel sorry for her. What is she expecting, to be treated like a queen?

One case that comes to mind....US citizen, Gabe Watson went to trial in Australia for the manslaughter of his wife. He was deported back to US after he'd served his time in Oz. Then he was trialled again in US, eventually the case was dismissed.

I know of no case where a US citizen was deported/extradited to America to be tried for a crime committed by them in the country they were deported from, in lieu of being tried there.

[JMO but I sure hope this assault via media backfires on them!!! JMO]

Pregnant teen accused of mother's suitcase murder claims she's been sexually assaulted repeatedly in Bali prison (and now she's served McDonalds after complaining over 'racist' KFC)
LINK: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...n-given-McDonalds-complaining-racist-KFC.html

Now, what does sexually assaulted mean? She was raped?, she had to strip down for a search? This news is coming from her attorney who is not even in Bali. She is only talking to him via the phone.

Further reading, her attorney said this: Elkin said Heather was distraught when he spoke to her by phone several times overnight. 'She was tearful, she is being mistreated,' he said.
He said the information Heather can give him is limited as he is worried their phone calls are being monitored by authorities in Bali. 'I have told her she can only give me yes or no answers,' he said.
'I asked her if she was being mistreated and she said yes. I started going through questions and asked her if she had been touched inappropriately and she said yes. I asked her if it was in the female area and she said yes. I asked her if it was on more than one occasion and she said yes.
'I asked her if it was consensual and she said no. I could not go into the specifics of whether there was an actual rape or whether it was sexual assault, molesting, call it what you will. I cannot say for sure it was intercourse.' SNIPPED

There would be no way to know if this is true. She doesn't seem shy, I can see her screaming bloody murder if this was true.

Probably the best thing either of these two can do is to get some money into their accounts there, to buy protection and food?

These people are digging their own graves. This is going to infuriate the Indonesian authorities.

GOOD! So glad to hear! Makes the following statement all the more interesting, BRBM, and transition is right!:

[DHU], chief of police in the island’s capital, Denpasar, said: 'Heather complains about the food and that she is not being well-treated in jail, nevertheless police treat the prisoners all the same.
He added: 'Countering the couple's bizarre claim, he added: 'We have already given treatment that is more than normal. We give special attention to her as she is still young. This is a transition period for her.'

I agree!!! I don't understand why Attny E is taking such an aggressive approach and why he isn't telling his client to seriously suck it up, shut up, don't complain, fade into the group and eat whatever they are providing!

This approach can't end well for her ... well, it can't end well in any case ... maybe that's it - they've got nothing to lose so balls to the wall!?!?!

I think the lawyer doesn't know anything about the system there. Sometimes I feel we Americans feel so important that we think others in poorer or less developed countries, or anywhere, really, are afraid of us or look up to us or whatever. I think the attorney feels that by making a scene that will somehow cause them to release her or cause our government to step in on her behalf. He's wrong.

All he's doing is angering a proud, third world nation and harming his client. They will never let her go and he's making things worse.

Being an expat, I've followed many international cases. It's becoming commonplace for media, attorneys, and the defendants themselves to accuse foreign criminal justice systems of corruption, mistreatment, and/or ineptitude. Perhaps their claims are valid - perhaps not - but it has literally occurred in every case I've followed of an English speaking defendant in a non-English speaking country.

Ummm, I eat KFC on occasion and I'm not black, nor am I lower-class.

Oh, I know LinasK ... kazillions of people of all races and socio-economic backgrounds eat KFC. I am laughing at how ridiculous his statement was. And how he doesn't recognise that he was actually getting preferential treatment.

And I suspect that the intimate touching that Mack is speaking of is her doctor’s examination and tests for pregnancy/ectopic pregnancy. Perhaps she was also body-searched by a female officer prior to going into jail.

These two certainly are not reading Leeza Ormsby's playbook on how to get off a (drug) charge lightly.

And where the heck is her US lawyer? Still in Chicago? Last thing I read (a couple of days ago) was that he had not yet found an Indonesian lawyer who suited him, was flying to Indonesia, and he couldn’t get there fast enough .. or words to that effect. He could have been there many times over by now.

 Could not agree more. He is just an American bule to them, no doubt. They have already scoffed at him and said 'if the lawyer wants to claim abuse, let him provide evidence'.

I read somewhere, so take it for what that's worth, that her attorney is assembling a "team", and does not have the correct players yet.
How she's going to get her hands on money I don't know.
Maybe Dad left her money, because I don't see getting her hands on her mother's money.
She has older half siblings from her dad's first marriage. They've been silent as far as I've seen.

I think that we'll hear more complaints from both of them.

Anyone know which prison they're in, or are they still in a jail?

So he is going to take a team there? He could probably start with one representative to ensure that his client is okay, provide her with the food of her choice and the water that he says she may not be getting enough of.

Her lawyer also says ...

"He said he had spoken to one female lawyer who was trying to get the case. 'I asked her five different ways if my client has been charged and she said she didn’t know."

If he read up on Indonesian law, he would see that the formal charges do not happen until after the investigation is complete .. and police have stated that could take quite a while. I hope that he is not trying to apply US law to an Indonesian situation, because that is not going to work.

I see what you're saying. I agree.

This attorney sounds like a fish flopping around out of his bowl. So concerned about her water intake, etc., :whine: He needs to get on over there as soon as he finds out how much money he can make on this!

In the meantime, I think he needs to take his own advice and just answer yes and no. :secret: Who cares what they're eating. Maybe it's that fabled armed gang touching her inappropriately. She sure looks bored in some of those pictures.

Let's talk about the bloody suitcase.

"Elkin said he is still making arrangements to travel to Bali, but needs to make sure he has a proper back-up team of translators and technical experts with him."

Big Mack: Heather Mack (with towel on head) is served McDonald's (right of picture) after complaining that KFC was based on a 'racist' assumption that she'd like fried chicken

Well, there's a commercial for McDonalds in the making .... "Rich-pregnant-spoiled-brat-and-murder-suspect eats McDonalds, while refusing KFC. Come try our burgers and fries .. towel over your head is optional"

I read these stories, & I just think, "Heather, you did NOT think this one through" & she's even screwing up afterwards- I almost feel more sorry for Tommy Schaefer (although I don't know the extant of his involvement)- he stepped in some deep s-tuff when he became involved w/ Heather Mack. Hindsight is going to hit these 2 HARD.

It may be greasy, but I prefer it to Popeye's Chicken.

& the thing is, (I do not condone this kind of manipulation at all), but Heather, if she really is pregnant, could have had a much firmer hold on her mother's emotions & finances, by controlling her mother's access-who knows, maybe this is the card she was trying to play. By losing control, & murdering her mother, she ends up in a foreign prison, w/ little chance of evading the charges.

I tend to agree. Sounds like HM felt entitled to a luxurious life funded by her mom, and TS has an idea that he'd be marrying into that life because of the baby. Meanwhile the mom was upset about the pregnancy and getting tired of being taken advantage of, esp by the addition of more dependents - daughter's bf plus baby.

Interesting ... murder mom, daughter is not entitled to the estate, but her offspring could be?

  • #418
So, they got one of her mother's credit cards to pay for their new room near the airport. Might not have been a high balance one? Those locked in safe at the St. REGIS?
It's being said that only his fingerprints are on the murder weapons? That's strange, I've envisioned Heather losing it and attacking her Mom, and doing the killing and him helping cover it up. Could be poor reporting though.

Do we think they're going to blame each other?
He has no attorney or representation yet, and neither are talking to the police.

I'm wondering if family and friends will talk more at Sheila's funeral? Especially family members who've been silent so far.

  • #419
I wonder if HM was holding onto her mum .. by the reports of wounds, open wounds and bruises on Sheila's forearm, while TS wielded the heavy glass object(s).

Maybe he's waiting for a cash retainer.
