The AP story, which has already been linked here, is being run by the Chicago Sun-Times. I post a link for two reasons:

1. It has a photo gallery which includes a few pix I haven't seen elsewhere; and

2. Even though it is recorded as having been posted seven hours ago, there is not one comment. This is interesting to me, because the first story about these latest developments was posted by the Daily Mail (about a day-and-a-half ago) and I read it about half-an-hour after it was posted and it already had several comments at that point. This story does not seem to be big at all here in Chicago.

There are comments in the Chicago Tribune's piece: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...-suitcase-murder-20141208-20141208-story.html

So the Chicago Tribune, unlike most of the Chicago media, has at least done something other than publish nothing but wire reports (or re-written wire reports). The article linked below (I think the same as Former Oakparker's link, but my browser is being difficult with Tribune stuff, so I'm not sure) finds the Tribune quoting Sheila's brother:

The victim's brother, William Wiese, told the Tribune on Monday that Mack has not contacted family members, nor have they attempted to reach her. He said the family has kept up with media accounts of developments in the case, but that authorities have not shared with members any information about potential evidence linking Mack and Schaefer to the crime.

"They told us they can't really tell us anything because it's an ongoing investigation," Wiese said. "We just want to see what happens with the judicial process."

But Tribune reporters are not keeping up with the latest developments, since I posted recently that Heather's attorney has already conceded that Tommy's appearance was a surprise to Sheila. William Wiese doesn't appear to know that yet either, as his statement below reads like a surmise and not a clear recitation of fact:

He said the family believes Schaefer's appearance in Bali several days after mother and daughter arrived came as a surprise to von Wiese-Mack.

Just finished reading all the reactions here and it helps me feel less alone while I deal with my nausea over the romantic story and pictures of these two mother killers. Yes, I said that, as Sheila is still dead and gone forever. But these two are so excited about the baby on the way, huh.

Heather has her nails done! Where's her glasses? Is she wearing her contact lens? That's not really roughing it as much as I imagined. They both don't look all that bad considering, but she seems to be treated better. Tommy looks thinner to me, but content with his plastic bag of belongings. I guess they're kinda married now with their "rings". Love is sweet when you're on your way to prison. As Heather said, "Once this case is over..."

Grandmother Stella must be honored if she's still alive. :facepalm: Will she help foot the payoffs?

Testing one, two, three...Reality Check please.

You're right. It is odd that Heather now looks like she's converted to the Christian faith (crucifix necklace) and has spent time in a spa--not jail-- with fresh nails, contacts, clothes and make-up. Yet Tommy looks like he's had a rougher time. Hair disheveled, skin splotchy, no change of clothes (other than orange jump suit).

Concerning the "wedding bands," does anyone remember that we speculated that HM and TS may have planned to marry in Bali, ditch mom and run-off to live happily ever after? This is almost spot-on, except they had a bump in plans.

TS also sporting his "pretendy" ring on his wedding ring finger. Awww....so cute. :puke:

Oh hell! I had not seen this pic. Looks like a promo for a Disney movie. Smh going to sit on my hands before I get into trouble. These two are as smart as a box of rocks. Jmo

ciao

Wow!!!! I guess if prosecutors have all the evidence they don't care if the partners in crime hug up. Prosecutors need to wipe that smile off Heather's face. They both look well fed and in good health no signs of shame on their faces. Jmo

ciao

I think the photos of their demeanor will work against them...especially as HM's taking the position that she was terrified when the murder happened and "only" went along with stuffing her mother in the suitcase because TS was the father of her child. Her story is one of the lamest I've ever heard.

I think so too. How could HM be so lovey-dovey with TS who cause such terror? Who murdered her mom? Baby or no baby, I'd have a really hard time not feeling sick about a man who did such an awful thing...as her story goes.

He's back!!

Statement released by Elkin & Associates Monday, Dec. 8, 2014:

1. The investigation is pending and unresolved at this time.

2. "Heather was transferred to Kerobokan Jail, Wanita Blok, on December 8, 2014 approximately 6:00 PM, local Bali time. All members of her American legal team have been in communication with her. Heather said that the Indonesian authorities have treated Heather and her unborn-child with decency and in a humane manner."

3. "We also wish to thank the U.S. Consulate for its continued efforts in ensuring that lines of communication are maintained."

4. "The investigation with respect to the allegations brought fourth against Heather is still ongoing. From the onset, we were hopeful that the Indonesian authorities would conduct a thorough and an in-depth investigation."

5. "We have always been of the opinion that during the investigatory process, comments by persons involved in a case to a third party is improper, unless dissemination of such information is critical, imperative, and ethical to safeguard the interests of the client."

See: http://www.oakpark.com/News/Article...chaefer-may-be-charged-in-Bali-by-year's-end/

There is also a clip from the local CBS affiliate which contains a brief video (not still photos) of the jail cell love fest. Eek.

(BTW, I think the numbers in the press statement may have been added by OakPark.com and may not be part of the official release.)

Heather looks up to him as her hero who killed her mother. Yes, these pictures don't convey a scared girl who didn't want her mother dead. She's going to have the baby so the baby can visit her in prison? (Maybe someday her daughter will stuff her in a suitcase.) But for now, sounds like everything is okay per Heather. (Plus she found God!)

Hope that is a mosquito bite on HM's neck. They weren't getting into it in the prosecutor's jail were they? There was no red mark on her neck in this (earlier?) photo.

Infuriates me that there is still no sign of worry or remorse from HM. And TS .... well, I think he's just clinging to those rubberband rings and the baby's inheritance. :shakehead:

Those pictures of Heather look to me as if there has been some deal done.
She looks way too settled.
I cannot believe there is any remorse whatsoever in her heart - as she looks up to TS with such a smile - it does not convey 'you killed my mother' - it conveys 'we killed my mother, and everything is going to be fine' JMO.
It seems Heather has access to money - and she is using all her c/harm to get herself in a position where she feels like she will get off easier than TS.
What a piece of work these 2 are.

I agree, from the pictures, HM isn't worried at all. She's got her 'legal team' and the promise of $$.

TS looks completely different. He's had one rude awakening over the last few months. I suspect he's started realizing how completely isolated he is and how dependent he is on indirectly getting help through or because of HM.

Maybe it is a rat bite on her neck.

I wonder if it was possible for them to really get married?

These photos also make me sick.

Heehee.

I think those cries of maltreatment early on by her US attorneys came with a warning, and as a result, the Balinese government/LE have gone above and beyond what their duty requires to make sure the little fiend has everything she wants (under the circumstances). JMO

BBM: Well, prisoners can get married while incarcerated in Bali.

The head of Kerobokan Prison has said Stephens will marry a Balinese woman known as Kristin after gaining permission from prison authorities.

"The procession of wedding ceremony for the couple will be held tomorrow at Kerobokan Prison," the prison chief, Siswanto, said.

I wonder if they would be able to get the relevant consular letter(s) to allow that? Though I think HM would have been happy to announce her rubberband-marriage to the world when she announced that she is carrying a baby girl who she would call Stella, if they were already married.

Certificate of the religious marriage;
Passport for foreign citizens, or KTP (Identity card) for Indonesian citizens;
Certified birth certificate;
Certified divorce decree (absolute) or death certificates regarding the termination of all previous marriages;
Four 4×6 cm photos, both partners side by side;
Foreign citizens:
‘Letter of No Impediment to Marriage’ issued by your Consular Representative for Bali or Indonesia;

Interesting, and I agree she likely would have announced it.
