I don’t know if it is ok to link the tour company. But I was looking at reviews and it seems the boyfriend has had time to place a couple low rated reviews.

Help me out with my assumption. But facts are- middle or older aged- sleeping in tent- don’t normally sleep in tent-sleeping on sand - there is no a/c.

The only question or assumption I made was that you would hear a partner get up or you would wake up. I agree there are things that make it harder to wake up. Earplugs, and intoxication. Yet, going to sleep at 10 intoxicated most normally means you’re getting up to go to the bathroom at some point before 6, I would think? And being almost 60, to me would mean you are not sleeping well in a tent.

Could there be sounds of waves that may have dampered sounds of her getting up?
Sand floors, her steps would not have been heard. Unless she spoke to him, he may have slept right through it. IMO

I don’t know that my age matters. But I will say I have definitely been around middle aged or almost 60 year olds and sleeping in a tent would be uncomfortable for most. Heck, I hate it when my vacations rentals have bad beds! And yes, I know the tents could be on sand or a platform, I’d think sand is the better of the two options. I do know based on my quote and link above they do provide mats and sheets. I’ve actually seen pics of these tents on unapproved sources so I can’t link.

FWIW- it is possible he slept through. I just happen to think that’s easier to do in the comforts of your own home or bed.

American Tourist Missing In Belize

A missing persons report was filled by 58-year-old Paige Rote, an American Musician of Colorado, who told police that on January 17, 2019, he was on a tour along with the 43-year-old American and 16 other persons. They camped for the night at Rendezvous Caye in Belize and about 6am when Rote woke up, McKenzie was nowhere to be found.

My three theories:

1) she was intoxicated and fell into the water, went for a swim and never came out
2) she left the island by boat with someone else. most unlikely
3) foul play at the hands of someone with the tour operator

I don't think the boyfriend was involved. All conjecture of course.

That island they stayed at is TINY.
How does one go missing from there ?
Even if a local or tour guide kidnapped her, they'd have to take her back to the mainland by boat without anyone else noticing.
Did the boyfriend/husband go out with her for a midnight swim ?
I'm thinking shark attack.

In a place like that with long stretched of shallow or waist/chest high water, it would be so tempting to go out and skinny dip in the moonlight.
Without realizing the dangers.
Sad as it must have been an exciting trip until this happened.

Hmm this is so odd. This island is teeny tiny. I'm assuming their tour group was the only people on the island that night?

I am interested in the captain escorting her back at 230 AM. I'm assuming LE have spoken with him. I wonder why he told her it wasn't good to be out walking around at night. With such an isolated island and probably only the tour group on there, I wouldn't assume it would be unsafe in terms of other people accosting you. Perhaps he said it due to the water and her behaving erratically? I am still curious on what they mean by her acting erratically. Like drunk? Or on something else?

I'm 45 and have been perimenopausal for approximately 3 years. May i say the anxiety is out of this world. Out of nowhere hot and anxious. Every woman is unique in their own but I couldn't sleep in a tent all night to save my life. Different body aches and I'm in good shape.
Imo. I was looking up crocodiles and alligators in belize. God forbid ... Her sister replied she didn't like water and didnt drink. Maybe even a rouge wave?!? There is a story of a family on the beach and half the family disappeared drug out to sea never found again. Terrifying. Never take your eyes off the water i hear. Jmo

BBM: This is interesting to me. Is it known if the crew returned on the boat that night? If so, what time would they leave the island? Could she have been on the boat? I'm aware that there is a comment that the Captain escorted her back to her tent at around 2 am. Wondering if maybe she was demanding to go back and that is why she was being described as acting erratic. Just thinking here.

Seems to me that the very LAST thing someones who's "scared of the water" is going to do is go cruising around on a catamaran and then bunk down in a sandbox smack dab in the middle of the deep, blue sea.

I'm sure her family members are feeling desperately anxious and fearful.
Denial is one of the mind's most primitive defense mechanisms.
I think the sister may be telling herself whatever she needs to believe in order to hang onto some glimmer of hope that the simplest explanation isn't the correct one:

The absolutely overwhelming likelihood here is that AK is in the water, and the cause is misadventure, i.e., a tragic accident.

Having said that, I understand her family not being ready to accept that scenario yet.

I am wondering, if the crew returns to the main island each night instead of camping with the tourists, how did the captain see her at 2:30 am and escort her to her tent? Where was he staying??

But it would wash everyone away, not just Alisa.
Unless she was swimming. But if she was afraid of water, she might go wading a bit to her ankles.
And I can't see her paddling a boat away from there, alone.
( By 'boat' I'm thinking small canoe or a paddle boat that you go with another person. You can paddle them by yourself as well; with the foot pedals. )
