My cousin is legally blind from being shaken as a baby. He skateboards, has social media, etc.
So that doesn't mean much.

NBC doesn't quote Cosby's lawyers in above comment. A "legally blind" individual can have some residual vision in one or both eyes.

Legal blindness is a level of vision loss that has been legally defined to determine eligibility for benefits. In the United States, this refers to a medically diagnosed central visual acuity of 20/200 or less in the better eye with the best possible correction, and/or a visual field of 20 degrees or less. Thank you but what I meant was, who says Cosby is legally blind? I mean, everybody says it, but where did that information originally come from and what proof is there that it is true? Has a doctor ever stated such?

I would just like to be sure it is true and not one of those things that continually gets repeated as fact but isn't really.

Legally blind doesn’t mean he can’t see at all, though. It might just be that his eyesight’s bad enough to where he shouldn’t drive, for example. The dark shades he wears sometimes might just be for dramatic effect.

However, that said, things like heart disease, diabetes and glaucoma can cause near or complete blindness, too.

I'm sure a Judge has access to health information on Bill Cosby, but the public doesn't have a right to know. I can tell by looking at him that Cosby's right eye is very cloudy and likely limits his vision in that eye.

Prosecution knows something we do not. BC did not like that the fact he “owns” a plane came out in court. BC still can own a plane but be the pilot. Still think he is trying to start this “I am ill! I cannot remember what I say”.....to keep him out of prison and help with appeals....old and sick just might work.

In the US they have jails with wings for the elderly and sick people. Sure hope it doesn't work.

There are plenty of men (mainly) who are living out life sentences and do not get released due to age or infirmity.

IMO, he should be in jail NOW, awaiting his appeals.

If its cloudy, it could be a cataract and those are easily fixed in most cases. Maybe he has delayed correcting it due to his legal woes.

If he was found innocent, it would be done within an hour!! Jail the creep!

After age 50 many of us have cataracts. Wearing sunglasses helps to maintain ones sight and can slow the cataracts. They are very easy to remove with a low incident of problems.

He may be legally blind, I do not know but he is certainly not totally blind because he is often seen walking by himself and when he realizes he is on camera, he will reach ahead and grab an arm. Anyone can buy a cane and anyone can wear sunglasses all day long.

When one of my dogs had bad cataracts, I asked the vet if he was blind. The answer was that if I could see his eye colour through them, the dog could see out from them. We were concerned about anaesthetic at his age VS him walking into things. We left them and he was fine.

I agree and I think the "legally blind" thing was put out there by his camp to garner sympathy from the public. Therefore it may or may not be true.

Presumably he has Medicare, which covers cateract surgery. Or even private health insurance.

I think it was nothing more than a play on words.
Even if he said "I don't have a plane", He may be speaking the truth. I am not sure how his affairs are set up, but, I think he'd be smart enough to have the planes in some type of corporation, rather than in his name. So, by saying "I don't have a plane, it is the truth. A simple search of the tail numbers would reveal the owner.
Many aircraft owners by a plane in a formed corporation name, and then lease it back to themselves.

About 15 years ago....I was face to face with BC....after one of his shows....one of his eyes was very cloudy with a heavy white film...like a cataract. I often wondered if a cataract, why he did not have surgery. The other eye looked normal at the time. At the show, he was able to get around okay as far as I could tell, but he always had several people around him. He walked on stage just fine, walked into audience area just fine after the show when most people were gone. No one escorted him arm to arm and he used no cane.

So, he had at the time some sort of eye problems. What his eye condition is today is the question.

Did the eye issues from years ago spread to the other eye?
Is he blind in one eye only and therefore claims he is blind now?
How does the ruling work for saying you are blind if just blind in one eye or
two?
Would surgery have helped then or now?
With his money I would assume he would have gotten the best eye care
possible.
Does he wear contacts?....I did not remember him wearing them as sometimes one can tell if a person wears them....but I can almost say the cloudiness in the one eye was not due to a contact.
Does he wear glasses? I do not think I ever saw him wear glasses.

However at the show years ago....he saw just fine with the one possible good eye through the bright lights and into the first rows of the audience. He saw just fine....just fine. He could see us just fine.

As we all age most have eye issues, his probably got worse like others do. I would assume some sort of physical would be given to him as a felon? They would know for sure. maybe a lawyer can answer the physical question given to those allowed out on house arrest until sentencing.

Do IMO, BC, does have major eye issue...but one or two eyes now is the question. I am surprised he does not use the Red tip,cane more often though. He appears to be very dependent on those around him. I know the area is unfamiliar to,him, but my friends who are blind always use their cane no matter what help they get.

BC has keratoconus in one eye. Article in Daily Mail.

Its a thinning of the cornea and causes distorted, blurred and sometimes double vision.

Its progressive and can lead to a degraded state of vision but not total blindness....google.

Some of the symptoms are also common after cataract surgery, so not convinced he's 'blind', just has distorted vision in one eye. Seems he has had it for a very long time.

Yes, in one of the recent news pictures he used one....but not all the time...sometimes it is a thin brown cane.....I will try and locate the picture....if I rememeber right...the tip was red the cane was brown I believe.....not sure but I remember wondering why he did not use the red tip cane all the time. Some of my friends fiends use fold up canes...but all are white with red tip. I will search in the morning....I am tired,,,,long day and headed to bed....sorry. maybe one of thEOTHER WS might have the pic....but I will check.

Finally! He was so arrogant at the mistrial last time. So glad to see the jurors agreed.

Yeah. I remember after the first trial, Cosby and his team were on the court steps giving a press conference. The trial ended in a hung jury (10 to 2 for guilty), but they were overjoyed, as if Cosby had been exonerated. Andrew Wyatt ecstatically gave the black power salute, numerous times. They even read a special message from Camille in which she put down the DA, the judge and the media, calling them exploitative and unethical. It was party time -- you would think he had been acquitted. Then a couple of days later, Andrew Wyatt announced that Cosby would soon be giving town hall lectures about avoiding sexual assault allegations. That never materialized.

I will say this quickly. In researching, I was taken in by 'fake news' by BC and his team. His thin brown cane is NOT a cane for the blind. What I saw was the thin brown cane wrapped with duct take that gives the illusion it was a cane for the blind. I thought the bottom part was painted red but it was just brown like the top part above the duct tape. BC in the video clips etc that I want to link to never uses it like a blind person.....I have several friends who are blind and I asked them questions. They all lost their eye site later in life and went to classes to learn how to use the can properly. BC carries the cane never uses it.

As for BC using the cane for support, that is not so either. There is height and weight restrictions on canes that are used for any type of support. I use a cane daily. The canes are adjusted to a persons height and then the correct cane is chosen for strength. So looking at BC and just guessing his height and weight he would be using a cane XLRG (220-300 lbs) or a XXLRG (200-500 lbs). He does not use the cane to support any weight.

A few of the articles call this cane a 'prop cane'.
