Got key cut so could put in ignition and straighten wheels. Did not start truck because that would change dash readings.

If Tim's truck couldn't be fully inspected inside the trailer because it was a tight fit right to the sides of the trailer - how did *whoever* get out of it once they drove it into the trailer? It sounds like there wasn't even enough clearance to open the driver door and get out. Did the back window open and did they crawl out that, and into the bed of the truck? Just thinking out loud.

The picture court is being shown now is what was shown to Sharlene Bosma to check and see if it was Tim's. #TimBosma #HamOnt #Bosma

When they went to remove the truck from the trailer (onto a tow truck flat bed to keep it level) the wheels got stuck. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 57s58 seconds ago
They had to get a key cut to stick in ignition to turn wheels. Didn't turn it on, so as not to disturb or change anything. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 35s36 seconds ago
Looked at undercarriage of #Bosma truck, took soil and vegetation samples from tires.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe THAT'S why he needed CN, lol. Smaller body. That back window, if you even order the option where it opens, is quite small.

ETA: We're too impatient. They used a winch :)

The investigators collected soil and vegetation samples from the tires, and took photos of them.

Now the truck is out of the trailer for photos. Now we're seeing photos of a winch and a battery. Both were in working order - presumably could be used to pull the truck in, Mclellen says. "It looked like it had been dragged rather than driven recently."

 • #346
I am just wondering how they managed to photograph the truck if they left the trailer locked and sealed ? Also how did she miss the padlock not securing the doors if she checked it all?
<modsnip> I'm certain that since this is expert forensic testimony that we must make the assumption that everything was highly documented. If it wasn't, I'm sure the Defence will bring it up in cross. MOO

The winch was in a position where the truck could be winched in to the trailer, she says.

Can someone post a photo of a winch, pls?

That's what I'd assume as well

Stains are faint, but visible. @CHCHNews #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago
Getting truck out of trailer was tough. Got a tow truck driver to winch it out onto a flatbed, so it would come out level.

***Smart move!!

Sean Leathong ‏@SeanLCHCH 17s18 seconds ago Hamilton, Ontario
Police had to have a key cut to get truck out of the trailer. Truck was in very tight. @CHCHNews #Bosma

***They couldn't use the ones they took from DM?

I'm guessing that was already logged as evidence.

Found a winch and battery inside trailer after truck removed. Officers theory is winch pulled truck into trailer. #Bosma

Found a winch inside the trailer. Mclellan says it could have been used to drag the truck into the trailer. @CHCHNews #Bosma #MillardSmich

I think she means the 13th May, as the trailer allegedly left Hamilton for Tillsonburg on the evening of the 13th IIRC. Am I remembering correctly?

Once the truck was out, now they wanted to fully examine the outside of the vehicle, Mclellen says. Most of the inside of the cab had been stripped out, she says.

It's like a crank, on front of a boat. If the trailer opened at the front, they might have been able to pull the truck in, rather than drive.

The windows were all down except for the front passenger window, which was partially down and broken. There was also dark red staining, she says. "It was dark red and dark reddish brown staining. Some of them had drip marks with them." Some were in crevasses in the centre console. There were footprints on the inside that could be seen as well.

This was all observed from the outside of the vehicle. They hadn't actually entered it yet.

Winch was attached to a battery and both were in working order. @CHCHNews #Bosma

Truck was tightly wedged into the trailer. Police had to pull it out to examine it. Inside trailer was a winch likely used to pull truck in

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 3m3 minutes ago
The winch was operable...Examined outside of truck before interior. Windows all down except passenger window partly up and broken.

Front window smashed of Bosma truck, much of the inside had been stripped #MillardSmich #Bosma

It was dark red, brownish staining. Some had drip marks. Some of the red staining was in the crevices and crack, around the glovebox #Bosma

Footprints on inside, staining inside. Dark reddish brown staining in cracks and crevices and on dash.

One would get out the same way the police officer got in. Through the truck window and out the side door of the trailer. Unless the trailer door was big enough to swing the truck door through. That is why trailers designed to carry automobiles have small doors in the side that line up with the driver's window/door.

First the inside was photographed. Then any suspected blood was tested with light sources and a coherent laser light search. That will make blood go dark against a regular background.

Adam Carter

The test showed "dark stains in the area of the dash," she says.

Now the court is seeing the inside of the truck.

Expert: Blood does not show up on black. But the inside of this truck was grey. And there was brown stains #MillardSmich

"Blood does not show up well on black, but the interior of this truck happened to be grey."

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 2m2 minutes ago Hamilton, Ontario
Expert: Dark stains in the area of the dash - you can see it with your own eye. #MillardSmich

Sean Leathong ‏@SeanLCHCH 2m2 minutes ago Hamilton, Ontario
Interior of truck was grey, which allowed stains to show better. @CHCHNews #Bosma
