I wonder if a certain amount of community outrage re: SS is going to start to build?

Do we know that DM wasn't using a bogus email address with SS info? If he went so far to get burner phones, nothing would surprise me. He could easily make calls and send emails to vendors and use that name.

He surveilled Smich for 5 or 6 days in May, beginning on the 14th, Oxley says.
by Adam Carter 12:18 PM

Smich was arrested on May 22.
by Adam Carter 12:18 PM

Reports are written about an arrest on the day of, Oxley says.

Am certain that 'sweetheart deal' has come to mind for more than just a few people living in Ontario. (For those who do not know the phrase, think back to the Bernardo trial and the deal that Karla got).....Freudian slip, wrote trail for trial :D :D

I'd say it's more a case of DM "delegating" to SS. So I think that SS was doing all of his own calling and emailing on behalf of "the boss".

can anyone think of why the email address might be AMDSHANER?
Did a quick search, comes up with many forums, someone with that handle selling (or has sold) vehicles, remote control helicopter for sale, dirt bike.
Lists "AMDSHANER" as a mechanic in one of the sites. A quick Google search will take u there

I hope they didn't offer a sweetheart deal in this case. SS apparently knew they were going to steal a truck. A black truck appears in the hangar, he orders parts to sand down and remove windshield... and he knew the owner of the truck was missing. Plus his FIL told him it was Bosma's truck.

Justice Goodman cautions the jury that the fact that a person is arrested "has nothing to do with your decision in this case. It is not a piece of evidence for you to consider in making your decision."

Oxley has been a police officer since 1988.

He is in it up to his eyeballs if he ordered a Windshield removal tool .... it is required for switching the VIN (serial number on upper dash) .... and that is only done on stolen vehicles ..... but he will get off .... somebody has been singing from day one and it must be SS. I think we will see him as a witness for the prosecution. That is where the LB info will likely originate too.

Cross by Ravin Pillay, representing Dellen Millard. Suggests he's relying heavily on his notes: time, who was at briefing, etc...#Bosma

Pillay asking if Stoltz knows he's required to keep detailed, accurate, complete notes in a timely manner. Stoltz says yes. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 59s60 seconds ago
Pillay: "Your notes shouldn't be influenced by subsequent events?" Stoltz: "Right." #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 2m2 minutes ago
Can use notes to prepare search warrants, make a judicial application. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 2m2 minutes ago
Notes disclosed to defence before trial. "Your notes are critical to your credibility when you testify."

Good Lord, does he think the police officer is on trial??

I don't quite understand that. Can someone explain how someone (who is now charged with murder), being arrested has nothing to do with the jury's decision?

I think they just mean "arrested does not equal guilty". The imagery and descriptions of the mechanics of being arrested shouldn't factor in.

Fraser now asking about May 14, 2013. The objective on that date was to locate Mark Smich and see where he was living, and the police had two addresses where he might be living in Oakville.
by Adam Carter 12:25 PM

He was surveilled 24/7 by police, Oxley says.
by Adam Carter 12:27 PM

Court now seeing a surveillance photo of Smich and his girlfriend.

Hmm, so he's not THAT short (as a trialgoer described). Maybe he's got bad posture.

If they were tailing him, maybe they seen where he hid the gun? Need to go back and check the date and time that he is said to text MM that he buried it in the forest. Does anyone have that info handy?

  • #119
On May 14, Smich was coming and going from two addresses in Oakville -- one was his girlfriend's apartment.
by Adam Carter 12:30 PM

The next day, police were tailing Smich and looking for a "DNA discard" from a soda can or cigarette butt.
by Adam Carter 12:31 PM

Police did get a cigarette butt Smich had smoked.
by Adam Carter 12:31 PM

The Butt was seized near some train tracks in Oakville around noon.

There is a line that I read sometime back....police don't usually arrest cooperating witnesses. It comes to mind each and ever time I think on the topic of SS. There is plenty to suggest that he is indeed "up to the eyeballs' in the merde (oh didn't I mention it---I picked up a little French along the way too)
