or he didn't have friends (other than his BFF DM) or not one family member who listened to the news, read a newspaper who would have at least mentioned this case that was hot on the press? In my inner circle, I know TB's disappearance was a hot topic as it hit home to everyone!!!!

There were posters everywhere ....TB's neighbourhood of course.....the dirt bike guy at the farm saw one up on Roseville Road .....and there were posters in the Kleinberg neighbourhood where DM's mother lived.
Even the free Cambridge Times was been reporting on the trial regularly later .....name a paper or tv channel or radio newscast that did not carry the news in the beginning......This was very BIG news in the area and it was big precisely because it was so close to home--meaning Camridge, Breslau, Kitchener Waterloo,Ayr, Brantford, Hamilton, Burlington, Ancaster and all points in between....that is one very large area !! Many of us drive the same roads that DM et al used all the time....it is really a chilling thought especially if you recall that fact while you are driving on one of those roads. But Shaner could look at the truck and work on it even after AJ told him the truth--- now that is chilling :puke:

SS's lies are catching up to him. He will have the rest of his life fighting with Karma!!! I assume he lost his family (what wife would stick around), his job (good luck finding another and keeping it after today) , his ability to look at himself in the mirror, his ability to sleep at night, his conscience, his dream of building his dream house lol, his BFF (as he is sitting in jail)

I hope the tall tales were worth it SS, how are you lovin' life now????

Clairmont: Defense lawyer’s cross-examination brings drama to Bosma trial

Murder trials are mostly undramatic.

They politely plod along, thick with legal arguments, meticulous questioning and best behaviours.

But for 92 minutes Monday an old-school defence lawyer unleashed a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 of attacks unlike any the jury has seen at the Tim Bosma murder trial. Thomas Dungey's grilling of Crown witness Shane Schlatman brought more drama than any courtroom exchange since the trial began nine weeks ago.

Just got caught up... What a day!!! DM starts with smirking... TD wipes the smirk off in a hurry. :rotfl:

SS lies and deception called out by TD - SS collapses like a cheap lawn chair!!
Must be hard to look at himself. Keep that hoodie pulled low, take down the mirrors in the house too.

Hmmm I see a ring...

How does one explain to their children when those children are old enough understand, how their parent got messed up in something like this? Along with the fact the parent partook in it for years? "Well son, you see, once upon a time daddy was young and foolish..." that just doesn't cut it. Bless the children of selfish parents. MOO.

Once we get through the rest of the crown lineup, I believe we will see the control DM held over his minions. While it may be wearing off with time, the effects are still there. LE were on to it early, and therefore loyal followers like SS are mainly guilty of being a mindless minion to DM's activities.

SS reminds me of Georg Shultz from Hogan's Heroes. Only Shultz had more integrity.

MOO

SS reminds ME of Curly from the three stooges.

After hearing SS testimony and knowing how much of a sleaze he is, I wonder if this forum may have been too hard on AJ. Maybe he feared for his safety and his family's safety from SS. If he's so willing to turn a blind eye, to lie, etc, who knows what more he could be capable of. Also, the case was all over Facebook, did SS not have an account when things first started coming out? (I feel like I saw one for him at one point)

If AJ feared for his safety and his family's safety from SS..... all the more reason to have called the police.
I am stunned that people can come up with the damned reasons not to do the right thing for their fellow man.....what is happening in this world these days....every man for himself....wow....What about the missing man, the missing man's wife , the missing man's child ....his family his friends and on it goes....when was his safety going to be concern of someone who actually knew where the missing man's truck was 2 days after it went missing. Give me a break --- how much more serious did it have to get. Yes there are times we are our brothers keeper and it would do us all well to remember that.

Good catch, yes I see it too. Wonder if it is on there for real or for show? If he were mine, he would be gone. His actions spoke very clear on what an azz he is. (Azz is the not word I want to call him, I am not allowed to say it here!!!)

SS reminds ME of Curly from the three stooges.

No wonder why police at one time referred to this group of characters as something more similar to the tv drama
"The Following"....not as entertaining and not nearly as funny as Curly, Larry and Mo

You can also see why LE thought (and who they thought) the 3rd person may have been. I still do not understand why SS was not charged with anything.

Well quite honestly, Dungey is not going to be able to present a case that MS is really a Prince Charming who just fell into bad company ....and that company subsequently forced him to commit despicable acts against his will.....And frankly, I don't think that is what is going to happen.
After today's stunning display of righteous anger & moral indignation from TD I rather think he has been forthright and utterly honest with his client Mr Smich since day one. I can only guess that his very first conversation with his client is still permanently etched in MS's brain---just look at the Smich's appearance and self discipline day after day in the courtroom...no waving and no emoting all over the place as he sits side by side with the man who now is an arch enemy. MS has not been that well behaved since his 'First Communion'---- if you get my meaning.
I think there will be a factual and honest acknowledgement of Smich's total involvement ....and ultimately of his verdict and then sentence.....whatever all of that will be.
I am thinking of Greenspan's defense of young Mr. Mezzo recently....no one could erase the horror of what he had caused and no one tried to pretend it was something less than it was. Both lawyer and client faced the situation and its consequences head on as mature and collected adults do.....and I will be pleased to see a similar conclusion in this case at least for Smich. IMO

There is a huge difference in the two cases when one had a guilty plea while the other pleads not guilty!

Think of SS as not so much a liar, but a courier for DM's words and excuses. At least we know what DM had to say about things.

SS is an admitted liar.

Schlatman admits he lied to police when they asked him where red Dodge was

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 9h9 hours ago
Schlatman now says "I might have talked to him Thursday night" after just telling court he didn't talk to Millard until Friday.
Etc., etc., etc.,

So if this is the case, sounds like the theft over charge might have been dropped? Perhaps the judge is referencing the other stolen good in the hangar, but not in reference to TB's truck. IMO the jurors should be entitled to consider the other thefts as it goes to show "part" of the reason why DM murdered TB. Because he wanted TB's truck without having to pay for it and he wanted to kill and incinerator someone. Imagine that, $23,000 for the incinerator and trailer...almost the asking price of TB's truck. If DM really wanted to purchase a truck he could have. He would have found a way. There was the murder aspect to this case also. MOO.

Judge telling jury Millard is not on trial for theft of vehicles. Can't use that as evidence that Millard is guilty of murder.

ok in all fairness what is TD's explanation going to be for his own client not going to the police? or MM?

I'm thinking MS defence is proving DM has this charismatic spell over his minions so they all have this undying bromance going on and can't deny him anything (any more than his parents could). They all slavishly do anything he tells them even at their own peril.
I'm happy to see men can be roasted on the stand regarding their mystifying behaviour after the sins of their lover have been revealed.

I'm thinking MS's defense is going to be nothing. Other than a dramatic closing argument speech by his lawyer, suggesting that he went with his friend on a test drive and got caught up in the middle of a murder that he regrets ever helping to cover up but that he did it out of fear or just blind loyalty to someone who was a pivotal person in his life. Not to say that's the truth. Just saying that may be what his defense ends up being. Can't see any reason why they would need to launch a defense or put up witnesses with the way this case has been targeted at DM as being the mastermind and probably likely reckless gunman.

I get the sense that AJ wants to steer clear of this trial and SS altogether, IMO. I feel for AJ as he must worry, IMO, about the influence SS has with his daughter and grandkids. I do wonder though, had DM not fired AJ, would AJ have stayed employed as did SS for MA after DM's arrest had he been given that opportunity?

Although AJ did call CS, he wouldn't tell them where TB's truck was, so while he did better than SS by far, he too did nothing more until DM was arrested. At least AJ said he felt scared of what may happen to him or his family if he told LE, and for that concern, I do feel compassion for him. SS didn't assert that he had any such fear. IMO, AJ does feel remorse for choosing silence when it could have helped had he spoke to LE, and he may well wish now that he had acted more honourably as soon as he knew it was TB's truck in the hangar. Sadly, regrets cannot change the past and both AJ and SS will forever have to live with their decisions.

All MOO.

I can suggest a great Jesuit Retreat House for these two guys where they can get on their knees and get right with their Maker ...then with each other for the sake of their families and grandchildren. Everyone deserves a genuine conversion in life...a 'Come to Jesus' moment if you please where they turn themselves around....take a look at the man in the mirror as Michael would say....a "Road to Damascus" experience where they get blown off their asses and come up new and better men. Whatever it takes, there is definitely room for improvement.

Yes SS had facebook, he was also on several mechanic type forums, game forums, fish forums etc. Seemed to be online quite a bit. I still feel AJ should have told CS where the truck was as soon as it was confirmed that the VIN matched. TB was still a missing man, no one but the 2 murderers on trial knew he was already gone.

And don't forget, AJ stayed at the hangar the day of discovery. THEN turned around and went in again the next day as if nothing happened. Talk about fearing for his family....he obviously had no fear for himself walking back in that hangar. I would have said to myself, to heck with collecting my belonging, I'll wait until LE can escort me to pick them up from the hangar. Something a bit smelly going on there in MOO.

Not sure I even believe SS when he said he and AJ haven't spoken since DM's arrest. Perhaps he didn't want the Crown and defense to know there's been talk and note comparisons, getting stories straight before testimony. Whatever happened between them, I hope AJ and wife still get to visit with their grandchildren. So sad that children become victims also in a round about way when this type of carp happens. MOO.

A
...posted last night that while I don't believe they were running a chop shop, I do believe a lot of things that were easy to steal with a stealth Yukon and a trailer hitch were probably found in there such as the woodchipper and various trailers etc.

MOO

One can think what they want, but today it was said the possible thefts were still under investigation. IMO that doesn't rule out chop shop.

IMO, though I don't think DM was smart enough, my understanding is some foreign country thieves pay big money for parts they reassemble in their country and seems to me it might be an easy place to slip a part on a cargo plane leaving from that airport.
