Just finished reading all the letters fairly quickly. It's impressive how much substance the reporters managed to get out in tweets. As always, their work is appreciated. Two things on the top of my mind: DM writes that it's very important that it be made known that Dellen Millard doesn't own a gun, but that Mark's 'boyz' do. He doesn't even try to put the gun in Mark's hand, despite other very obvious efforts to frame Smich! Interesting bit of Freudian distancing? Secondly, there have been a few opinions expressed that Smich was sort of the evil impetus in this crime; that his ambitions were the dark engine of violence here, and that DM got swept in. Well, even DM makes MS subservient and pathetic in his motivations. He's afraid to get 'cut off' and therefore goes out and steals a truck all on his own to regain DM's favour. Even in his defence fantasies he conjures a weaker, even obsequious minion. He was writing this script literally from scratch and could have made Mark anyone, with any motivation. That he made him a weaker partner, a follower and victim even, is interesting and probably subconsciously reflective of something.
