DId anyone else notice that when Rita was giving a lead in to her interview with Wendy Nichols that stated that Wendy says in the interview that JMK said " I did it"? No where in that interview did she say that, she was very careful with her words and said instead that he was there. This is exactly how misinformation gets spread all over the airwaves and internet. I was more interested in finding out why this woman waited until August 19th 2006 to inform Boulder authorities of these comments. Why didn't Rita ask her that?

Rita said that Wendy was in drama class with JK and that he commonly made unusual and dramatic statements, so she blew it off. But with the recent developments she came forward, and hoped that others who had heard JK confess would also.

Very interesting what you said about Wendy choosing her words carefully and not actually saying JK said he killed JB, but he said he "was there." I would like to see a rerun of that interview, because I came away from it thinking she said he confessed to killing her. Now I'm doubting myself. I very possibly "misheard." (I don't think that is a word, but you get the idea...)

I really would like to see the entire interview at one sitting because....at one point Wendy is saying that he's talking about the footprints in the snow and then she adds in "I did it" and yet there is no response from Rita. Then at another point Rita asks her if he confessed that he killed JonBenet Ramsey and Wendy says "No".

So which is it?

And yes, if he said the words "I did it", why is she just now remembering this?

SOgal, It is possible that we heard different parts of interview. The part I saw seemed to not be the whole interview, I saw it sometime between 9 and 11 am on MSNBC, thanks for filling me in about the reason she gave for not reporting comments sooner.

Yes I saw her saying the same thing. She sounded like she honestly didn't believe him at the time and thought he was joking. It still seems strange that this information, from different sources, has been out there for years and yet he was never questioned about it.

He said he bashed her in the head with a flash light. I only heard part of the tape.

He also said it was an accident.

Didn’t she go to the police? This was an investigation in 2001?

At Christmas, 1996, 32 year old John & Lara Karr lived in Hamilton, Alabama, and his younger half-brother Nate, then 24, and possibly their father, Wexford, lived in, or around, Atlanta. The families would either have Christmas together, in Hamilton, AL, or Atlanta, GA.

Just dropping in for a minute. I have seen one photo of JMK with his children in front of a bridge (maybe in SF, CA?). I am trying to figure out if he and Lara had three kids by 1996 - if not, it might have been easier to be away from the family at Christmas without a lot of upset. Does the press know for sure that all three children were in the picture (sans JMK) that the family sent to the Boulder DA?

Yes, they did have three children. In late 1996, the three children were 3,4, and 6. I don't know which picture was sent to Boulder.

- Damon Karr was born in 1992, and
- Seven Exodus Karr was born in 1993.

Can someone help me out, did you see the high school Wendy (Nichols) say that JMK said "I did it" during her interview with Rita? Just wondering

Karr has a public defender from Boulder...the two lawyers from CA need to apply with the Colorado State Bar in order to represent JMK in Boulder. As of today the two lawyers have not applied and according to CTV, the application would take about a week for approval.

Wendy Nichols, the classmate, says both - That he never admitted killing JonBenet and that he "did it". It's kind of confusing. That's why I want to see the entire interview at one time.

Rita is running with the "I did it" portion, when another portion of the interview she asks Wendy if JMK admitted to her that he killed JonBenet and Wendy says "No".

But it's classic Rita Cosby!
