GUILTY Brock Turner, college swimmer, CONVICTED of rape - sentenced to only 6 months in jail

^^^ From link above...

"The prospective jurors were there for an unrelated misdemeanor case involving a woman accused of receiving stolen goods."

Bet anything he gives this woman a longer sentence than he gave Brock Turner, the rapist!

The article repeatedly refers to this information as being in the sentencing documents.

I assume that means that the judge had that information available to him before sentencing the rapist Brock Turner (formerly known as the swimmer Brock Turner) to just six months?

Yes and that's perhaps the most disturbing thing of all. He read it and dismissed it.

As for the "guidance counselor" (Kelly Owens) who submitted a letter to the judge, who now regrets it, she should be removed from her position as a guidance counselor ASAP. No way, no how should she be counseling teen students IMO.

She may lose her job. As a person who has worked in public and private schools, it is never permissible to write letters like this without the letter being run by the school/district's legal team. She may be fired but, more likely, will be disciplined by the governing board. Outrageous that she thought she could speak in her professional capacity.

banned from USA swimming for life.

Former Stanford swimmer Brock Turner has been banned from USA Swimming for life after he was convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman on campus in January 2015.
Turner is no longer eligible for USA Swimming membership and will not be allowed to compete in any USA Swimming-sanctioned events, including the Olympic Trials, after violating the organization's Code of Conduct policy.

Good. That was his life and identity and now it's gone forever.

Good luck *******.

I will say that as awful and deplorable as this crime is, I think it's completely inappropriate for the Vice President and the congress to be inserting themselves publicly into the fray.

If they felt the need to do "something", they should have privately phoned the family to offer condolences and sympathize.

Their very public "attention" to this particular crime and victim marginalizes many other horrific crimes where they don't pay attention to the victim or victim's family. So, for me, it feels like they are taking advantage of the situation publicly for their own political gain. Which is exploitation, IMO. And I don't like that in leaders.

They have have spoken out on many things such as Sandy Hook. Everyone knows about this crime so it is good for the leaders to speak out. After all, we have several other leaders talking about legitimate rape. It is a perfect opportunity as a time to state that rape is not acceptable.

This is great. Thank you.

I'm just saying - if you don't want to get stabbed in the neck maybe wear a turtleneck.
:)

I agree -- and I've noticed in the past that some far right-wing websites have frequently criticized the government for not speaking out about some crimes, so this strikes me as being a somewhat cynical and hypocritical opportunity for some to take a political potshot.

That is sooooooooo perfect!

Random thoughts, and if you are of thin skin, scroll by. 🤬🤬🤬🤬 and more sh@%. How can people still posit that this is about drunkenness and "buyer's remorse" enrages me. A comatose-drunk person (of any gender) CANNOT CONSENT. Sex without consent is rape. Period end.

I do wonder about those who try finding excuses for a rapist. And this man is a rapist. A convicted rapist. A forever in the registry thank God rapist. A remorseless convicted felon.

Yes, it pisses me off to no end. NO, there are no excuses for rape. NONE. I wish when I was raped I was more like this victim and had the ovaries to show up in court and say what happened, but then again I was afraid and shamed into silence.

Because it's 20 minutes of action until it happens to you. Our your mother. Your sister. Your 5 year old niece.

Bless you, my Friend. Tell it Sister, I'm sure you speak for so many -- you speak for me, but I'm gonna speak for me, and for others whom I hope will pass this on to let daughters or sisters or other young women know that date rape is NOT THEIR FAULT and it is a felony:

Date rape happened to me. Date rape is rape. Period. We were both in college. We were watching a live concert on TV at my girl friend's apt. She was on the back patio with her boyfriend. My date and I were sitting side by side on the sofa -- we had never even kissed. Fully cIothed -- jeans, shirts, etc. I was not drinking because I had stopped the alcohol thing a while back. He had a beer. So there was nothing "drunk" about it. He just rolled over on me & started taking off my jeans. I was shocked, saying stop, trying to pull my jeans & underwear back up, trying to get up -- he held me down, it hurt. I could not stop him. He got done quickly, but he did "finish." I got up, pulled my pants back on, slapped him hard in the face, got my bag and walked out. I hid outside because I had no car. He left quickly. Then I went back in. Call the police? Not a thought. Not back then. Hell, Nixon was in the White House.

And I did nothing more about it because I was then, and am now, a wimp.

But don't let anyone ever say that date rape is not rape. Because it is.

Anyway, I just checked the petition:

977,046 supporters -- they're going for a million. For whatever good it will do. You bet your butt I signed it. Made me smile. For a second or too. I'm back to mad, angry, insulted, I find myself unable to breathe with I read about it. I have to stop & catch my breath.

Stanford, Vanderbilt, they're just a couple. Anywhere.
