IMO the bruising on her arms in one of the pictures is telling (LT, a baby, and the older son at Krispy Kreme). It looked as if she had been grabbed above the elbow. She seems unaware someone is taking a photo but the oldest son looks terrified behind her. He is looking at the camera and seems uncomfortably aware that a photo is being taken. I don’t think DT took that photo.

Does anyone have a link to this photo?? I've been looking everywhere and can't find it. Thanks!

So the 17 year brave soul would have been 12 or 13 years old. Could be her....

The name is not fully redcated in the court papers, so you can see for yourself.

Unfortunately I'm in Europe and that site won't open for me! :dunno: Still waiting for the Tunnel thing to be posted - can't remember the poster's name now!

So care to tell if it IS her? TIA!

Does anyone know where to find the vow renewal videos? Specifically the 2013 one that was like 40 minutes long. It seems that the Elvis chapel has finally took the videos down.

I too have wondered about the details of the 17-year-old's escape. I think it's likely she went out the front window. A very early report said it was early Sunday morning and I seem to remember that the police were there by 8:30am. Knowing now that the family went to bed about 4:30am and slept during the day, I think she waited until she knew that the parents were asleep and then made her escape. I'm just assuming that she may have walked away from the house and maybe around a corner and made the phone call. I'm assuming too that the dispatcher on the other end of that 911 call told her they were sending a police car and to wait where she was.

Some years ago, before cell phones, my purse was stolen in the supermarket parking lot. I went into the supermarket to call 911. A police car was sent to the store and the officer asked me to take a seat in the passenger seat. He asked questions and filled out the report.

Based on my experience, I'm assuming that the police car got to the location and likely asked the girl to get in. The officer took the report and looked at the pictures on the girl's cell phone, and reported what the girl said and what the pictures depicted to headquarters. Perhaps he was able to forward the pictures on her cell phone to headquarters.

Headquarters sent out several police cars as follow-up and the rest is history.

This is just speculation on my part about what may have happened. I hope someday we'll get the details of how the brave young lady escaped.

And I hope (and have no reason not to) that all of the officers involved treated these angels with respect and concern.

I think they knew their names but had been told not to give out much info if quizzed by neighbors.
<snip>

The T.s moved in, and lived there, from 1999-2010. They moved in with six children and a newborn (or one on the way) and had five more children, between 2000 & 2006.

Ty! I had the two Texas homes backward in my mind even after trying to absorb the awesome timelines I've seen.

I also see the BPD "look" to LT and could see her latching on to the quiverfull stuff during this time. I wonder if she had an online presence at a mothering website with each pregnancy, later. I know I was active online (not quiverfull, just pregnancy/babies) in 2003 and there were ladies that had already been on there for years. It appears they tried their hand at homesteading and failed. It seems the neglect turned to abuse at this time too, imo. Any redeeming qualities of the movement were left by the wayside in favor of big spending and keeping up outward appearances.

I think the 13 Turpin children, young and old, are magnificent and I'm so hopeful that they will overcome this to live happy and fulfilled lives. I pray for you J.T. x 13!

It was in the comments of an article but don’t remember which one. I did a screen shot so I could enlarge it to see the bruises. This is how the photo appeared. I did not crop it.

I'm just not sure why we must go round and round that one of the victims gave birth to the two year old ! Again the father has been charged with a lewd act, not rape ! Is it possible to stick to the facts ? Have these victims not already been through enough ?

Exactly. If the DA knew one of the daughters had a baby, there would be a rape charge already. He may bring in more charges, of course.

I have read the definition of the lewd conduct law over and over. It doesn't sound like it could lead to pregnancy.

I am saying this for the daughters' benefit only.

Until given reason to believe otherwise, I am going to believe the female now in jail had all the babies.

Again, this is no defense of the male currently in jail.

But it's so wasteful, particularly when they are alive and gifts and cards could actually be sent to them. Heck, they need the money blown on this stuff, and a nice card could actually be mailed to them.

This story has kept professional care givers who are working with the survivors near sleep less for a week, horrified people worldwide, triggered trauma survivors here on WS and no doubt elsewhere, and left many feeling powerless in the face of what seems like incomprehensible evil...

At least those folks who are bringing those flowers and gifts to the house care , and care enough to take action, and who knows, really, what carthesis that specific action might provide them?

Niner, I'm pretty sure that a relative of mine back in Bulgaria mentioned they used a VPN but I can't remember what it was called, I just sent her a text to ask her for you.

The teacher failed J that day by singling her out and shaming her, and that failure could only have happened if the teacher had either never noticed or never cared about the obvious signs of significant neglect, and if she had never noticed or never cared that J was being ostracized by her peers. That teacher, imo, never belonged in a classroom and is a disgrace.

That being said, 3rd graders aren't babies who can't be expected to be aware of others' feelings, nor accountable for being unkind.

Parents are responsible for teaching their kids that unkindness is not ok, that wanting to fit in is normal, fine, and OK, but that belonging at someone else's expense, or at the expense of doing what one knows is wrong, is never acceptable.

Does anyone have a link about the story regarding J and the teacher? (Are we talking about survivor 1 here?)

There has been so much to take in on this case, I can't remember if I have read this part yet or not!!

I will be very curious to hear which parent was most violent w/ children, which parent ordered chaining/padlocks,
which parent just carried out the punishment and which one dictated the punishment.
I still wonder if his publicly laid back attitude isn't a ruse for his private violence toward the children. I'm still leaning towards DT being the cruel, violent parent and LT went along with everything because it made her life easier.
They both have obvious behavioral disorders but i don't think we have enough details to determine the dynamics
here. It is obvious that both parents put their personal wants and needs ahead of needs of children.

Agreed that they have both acted very selfishly and I was in no way trying to let DT off the hook. He's got his own serious issues, but there hasn't been as much info put out about his family history and background to make a call. So far all her mannerisms and family history point to her being a very dominant controlling force. It may seem a minor detail, It's also very relevant (as family therapists were trained to notice small details like this the demonstrate the power balance in the relationship) that she has her own private lawyer and he's got a public defender. If the balance of power were equal (not that you were suggesting that) , they would both be represented by the private (and probably therefore a better) lawyer. If he were dominant I really think the tables would be turned. His behavior in court is very meek compared to her. She meanwhile has a sickening confident Jodi Arias type "air" to her, imo.

Hi Niner-! :)

Yes, survivor #8 is the survivor referred to in the criminal complaint charge relating to "lewd acts," which BTW, occurred (at least) for a year, between November 2012-Nov 2013.

I was thinking that as well. There really is no wiggle room here.

I'm pretty sure though that LT isn't gonna let that happen. She thinks she didn't do anything wrong. Or if she did she thinks she can justify what has been done. This is gonna be like freaking Jodi arias where we all knew she did it. It was the only thing that made any kind of sense, but she was so narcissistic and hellbent on getting her way that she dragged Travis' family through the mud with a long protracted trial.
