CA CA - 4 (previously 6) individuals missing near Idyllwild, summer 2020

RE: Lydia "Dia" Abrams

Thank You for all your suggestions. I finally got to watch the video. :)

That was it! Turned off my blocker for that site and immediately it worked. Usually a site notifies you to do that. Thanks again.

Families want answers after 5 people go missing in Idyllwild area since March | KTLA

This is in my own wording. It's a good video and worth watching.

Video has a name banner under Lydia's fiancé, Keith Harper, telling how she was gone and missed her birthday and their wedding date.

He had lunch with her on June 6th, then they texted at 4 p.m. that day. He was out working and when he returned he found her purse, wallet, and car still there. Lydia was not there. He tried calling her and got no answer. He found her phone in the bedroom plugged in. He said LE searched the ranch extensively.

Her plans to marry soon seem important. The selling off of part of the property is somewhat odd, but Covid has changed a lot of plans. Her fiancé seems like a very nice, sincere person.

What happened to her? They had a wedding date set and she ended up gone!

I wonder if she was worried she was going to have to file for bankruptcy what with Covid-19 canceling all large gatherings like weddings. It's possible all the money paid out to the ranch was not recoverable by the wedding parties.

Turning my blocker off was the solution. I wish I could post the video here, but don't know how.

(Hint, hint for anyone that can get it posted here. )

Got it!

Lydia’s case is very compelling. I wish we could learn who purchased some of the property very recently. She disappears June 6 and property is sold on June 18. Does someone have POA for her?

Did friends and family know she was getting married this summer?

Exactly my thoughts. The dates are creepy in light of her being still missing. I guess the sale went through without her signature, and the money went into her estate. Odd, usually the seller needs to do last minute things before escrow closes. Sure, she could have been Covid stressed and worried, but now she's totally disappeared! That doesn't make sense.

Missed her birthday and her own wedding date. It seems like she met with foul play. MOO, that property being sold seems maybe part of it. Some money motive?

No one I could find on Facebook seems to be looking for her. There’s no boyfriend, children, stepchildren, or friends asking “where is she?”

JMO but I’m starting to think that Dia’s case is not connected to the others (especially now that Venessa and Jade have been found.)

Only the one interview with the fiancee by KTLA 5. Maybe law enforcement has asked him to keep quiet, or maybe he has hired a PI ?
Yes, I thought the same thing about the children.
Could she have gone missing on purpose?

The same thing occurred in the Suzanne Morphew's case. She went missing on or around Mother's Day, May 10 of this year but a home she and her husband owned in Indiana was sold in June. If the sale was already in process maybe the sale had to go through.

Here's an interesting article for the area from 10/2019. Seems like there were several people with various criminal violations hanging around the general area:
Quality of life improvement saturation patrol • Idyllwild Town Crier
I was writing back and forth with another member about this but decided not to post about it here as I didn't want to seem like I was sleuthing the spouse-- just seems interesting. I have some more information about this if you'd like me to send it to you.

MOO, this missing person should have their own thread.

I'm still on my bullet train of thought concerning the possible angles to this case. The property that was sold 6/18 with the owner being missing 6/6 must have been noticed by LE. MOO, that's strange to say the least.

My thoughts are she had someone named as a POA (Power of Attorney) for some of her business endeavors.

Did Lydia have any children? Why aren't we hearing more from any of her close friends?

Is it at all possible she's voluntarily hiding out for some reason?

All MOO and that's my own train of thoughts. ;)

Here's an additional news report from today featuring Rosario's daughter. It seems that LE does not think that cases are connected.

'Too many red flags:' Family of missing senior citizen believes case is tied to others near Idyllwild

Gosh, the countryside is so pretty in these videos, but I'm sure there's rugged trails and people get stranded often. I feel terrible for Rosario's daughter, but it's possible Rosario got confused and lost. It sounded like her car ended up stuck on a rock and she may have wandered off.

At the very end of the news video, it says LE doesn't seem to think they're connected, and that two of the six had been found. MOO, Lydia's case seems different. I'm more worried about foul play in her case, but JMO.

I feel so sorry for the families of these missing people. It must be torture waiting for any word on their whereabouts.

The whole area is stunning and I've spent many days and even full weekends backpacking in and around it. I'd never venture out there alone-- even just on an extended drive. Not taking into consideration people with bad intentions-- the weather and wild animals (coyotes, rattlesnakes, mountain lions) are unpredictable.

Some more real estate digging in La Jolla led to this. Looks like there are some folks with the same last name listed at her La Jolla address.

Roy Prifogle went missing in March. If he got sick or bitten by a snake it seems searchers would have found him. I don't know if a coyote or mountain lion would drag a body to their den. JMO, it doesn't seem like Roy met with foul play, but got hurt or lost on a trail.

2 of 6 missing in Idyllwild area found safe; families speak out
  • Roy Prifogle, a hiker missing since March 4, last seen at Pine Cove Market
  • Lydia “Dia” Abrams, 65, missing since June 7, was last seen in 58000 block of Bonita Vista, east of Mountain Center
  • Melissa Lane, 41, missing since June 15
  • Rosario Garcia, missing since July 7, last seen in Hemet but vehicle found in Mountain Center

The Riverside County detective sent me a text message thanking me for my call and letting me know that they are aware of the house on Toolbox Spring Rd. So that's good (I figured they knew, but just to be sure.....)

Yes, I saw that too. But no "find Lydia Abrams", or similar, web site related to the names that I checked. Or news interviews.

I feel terrible for Rosario's daughter too, but I think her case is related to her dementia. I don't know if she ended up where her car was found and then wandered off. Or if she got lost somewhere else, was carjacked maybe, and is probably gone (? where she will be found). But then the carjacker would have needed to walk away from where the car got stuck so there must have been footprints, right?

I don't think the missing hikers' cases are connected to Rosario, although the general area does seem to be a place where criminals go to hide out. So you never know.

At this point I don't really think Lydia's case is connected to the others. It doesn't sound like she went out for a hike (she has a whole ranch). Where would she have been walking to without her keys? I can see forgetting her phone if she was upset about something and just went out quickly. But wouldn't she need some sort of key to get back into the ranch?
I wonder if maybe she was notified (directly but untraceable, or indirectly through someone on the ranch) that someone she knows had an emergency, needed her presence, and was on their way to pick her up (let's say near the corner of Bonita Vista Rd and Apple Canyon Rd, or not much further). So she quickly grabbed her jacket and ran out to meet them without bringing anything else. Then she got into the vehicle and they took off. And it was a setup.

I don't know, I'm just making this up! But per the media she has money/real estate investments, so IMO that makes her a potential target for a planned event.
The fiancee seems nice and appropriately concerned. And what would he gain if she's gone? But is the very quiet family afraid that he'll end up with her money? I don't know.....

You've done a lot of research on Lydia's case. Thank You for all the tidbits you dug up. I appreciate your sharing your thoughts also. True, she really had enough land to take walks on her own property. It would have to be an emergency as you suggested for her to go off without her phone. She sure sounded like she loved her animals. JMO, I see her as a woman that relied on her phone and had it with her usually-- but if this happened after 4 p.m. and her phone was in the bedroom on the charger... Heck, I don't know, but I would guess someone tricked her out of her house with some story.

Money, something to do with her money? It seems so, but fiancé didn't seal the deal with the marriage yet.

You're welcome for the tidbits. And I appreciate everyone else's contributions as well!
Yes, if it has something to do with her money then I think it would be someone other than the fiance. And the timing of this means the marriage didn't occur, and I wonder if that could be the point.
