@SoHelpMeGod, I just want to thank you again for all the work you've done putting pieces together to help find Lydia "Dia" Abrams.

I found this beautiful video of her Bonita Vista Ranch you posted earlier in the thread a good way to imagine the property and say a prayer that she's found soon.

You're very welcome! I'm trying to get a little summary together to post next.

The following is an update of some of the information we have, along with some of my own observations. All bolding is mine.
Dia Kenshalo Abrahms
“Scar on lower back from hip to hip, surgical scar on abdomen”
-the very long scar on her back does not say surgical
- the clothing description does not match the clothing in the missing person flyer in the following article
The date of this article is June 18, 2020:
Friends and family of missing woman remain hopeful | Valley News
According to family, she went missing from her secluded ranch on Apple Canyon Road in Mountain Center around 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6.”
Abrams was heading toward the Garner Valley area…”
“Although the sheriff’s search and investigation is still ongoing, Dia has been formally declared a missing person,” Diana Souza said. “
We would like everyone to know that they all are safe and being well cared for.”

The article does not say that the family spoke directly with the reporter, although they may have. It appears to me that Diana Souza was speaking on behalf of the family. Since law enforcement hasn’t confirmed the time Dia went missing we don’t know if that time is correct. We have not heard anything directly from the family.

Diana Souza appears to be the current Air BnB host for Dia’s 2 properties:
-Bonita Vista Ranch Bed & Breakfast/Main House, the Rustic 1930’s Cabin, and the 2 Cozy Cabins are all within the Ranch property.
-The name of the property that is not the ranch is now called “Garner Valley Mountain Retreat”. IIRC it was previously called “Garner Valley Area”.
Diana appears to have updated the site.

From Riverside County Assessor-Clerk-Recorder
The Bonita Vista Ranch, 115-116 acres total, appears to be made up of 2 parcels of land:

The 1st parcel (567190002) is 35.13 acres. This parcel contains 2 residential structures. One built in 1945 (the Main House above), and the other in 1960 (where I think Dia lived as it's not on the Air BnB list).
The 1930’s Cabin is not listed and I don’t know why, but it doesn’t seem important.

The 2nd parcel (567260003) is 80 acres. There are no residential structures listed.

I can’t post a link directly to the parcels on this web site. The easiest way to view the parcels is to enter 58111 Bonita Vista Road into the search box at this main web site. (entering parcel numbers doesn’t work well).
-This will bring up the 1st parcel.
-The 2nd parcel is the rectangular parcel on the map immediately below it, so then click on that one:

Dia owns both parcels through her trust.

I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence that Diana spoke with Valley News on June 18th or not. Did they call her, or did she call them?

Sorry I didn't make this clear above. Thank you for bearing with me while I try to document where I am getting the information about the 'transfer' (Dia and Dia's Trust) on 6/18/20.

I really wanted to understand what's going on with the Ranch in relation to Dia's disappearance. I needed to map it out for myself so it makes sense to me, and thought it might be interesting to others too.
I want to know what the transaction really means.

I feel like there could be a link between the 'sale/transfer' above on 6/18/20 and Diana appearing to have issued a statement about Dia's disappearance. on the same date in the Valley News article.

Thank you for your patience with my sometimes very long posts!!

OK, looks like I'm wrong about something. I didn't realize this article on 6/9/2020 indicates "According to her family, Abrams went missing from her ranch off of Apple Canyon Road on Saturday around 2 p.m.". My bad!
Community asked to help in search for woman last seen in Mountain Center area – KESQ
So then the date of the Valley News article (6/18/2020), in which Diana Souza made a statement, may not be significant at all.

RE: Melissa Lane - one of the missing

RE: Melissa Lane
A compilation of news articles regarding her disappearance
Two of the six hikers missing in Idyllwild over the last five months have been found
41-year-old Melissa Lane was reported missing on June 15th around 9:20 a.m. heading to Idyllwild from Pine Cove. Her phone and her belongings were left behind at her boyfriend's house, according to her sister on a Facebook post. Her mother, tho nervous, is hopeful Lane will be found. She says, “I am very concerned and I miss you Melissa. I love you.”

2 of 6 missing in Idyllwild area found safe; families speak out
Kathy Lamont last spoke with her daughter, Melissa Lane, 41, on June 8. She has been missing since about June 15 and is believed to have gone hiking – something she loved to do alone.

Lamont described her daughter, who lived in Pine Cove, as a loner who loved to hike.

As more people have learned of her daughter’s disappearance, Lamont said, she has been receiving lots of calls, but nothing that leads to Lane’s whereabouts.

“I’ve been praying day and night for her,” Lamont said, adding she has had three dreams recently her daughter is in trouble and screaming out for her.

She described her daughter as 5-foot-2 or 5-foot-3, petite with brownish/reddish hair.

“She looks like a petite little Irish girl,” Lamont said.

Lane doesn’t like carrying cell phones, so didn’t have one with her and usually doesn’t have a backpack when she hikes, her mother said.

“I have cried a river,” Lamont said and hopes if there is a connection between her daughter’s disappearance and the disappearance of the others still missing, investigators will find out soon before harm comes to anyone else.

Detectives investigate 6 missing person cases in and around Idyllwild
The mother of Melissa Lane, 41, reported her daughter missing on July 4 north of Pine Cove.

“She hasn't called anybody she knows. She just disappeared,” said her mother, who asked only to be identified by her first name, Kathy.

The mother said Lane exited a relative’s vehicle near the trailhead to Black Mountain Truck Trail, eight miles north of Idyllwild and she was never seen again.

“She hiked all over. She wasn't afraid of anything. She had no fear,” said the mother.

Kathy said she spent weeks looking for Lane.

“I think it’s a predator. They could be stealing people for the sex-slave trade or it could be a serial killer,” said Kathy.

RE: Melissa Lane

Here's some of what bothers me about the limited details we have on Melissa disappearing. Sure, maybe she got sick or fell, but I get the feeling she was upset at the time she left her boyfriend's or got out of the relative's car ... snipped ... go to original post...

Melissa Lane, as I understand it, left her boyfriend's without her phone or belongings, gets in a relative's car and exits that car on that Black Mountain Truck Trail. What time of day? What does she do when it gets dark? How was she going to go hiking alone with no provisions, and then get back to wherever she lives??? Was she planning on hitch-hiking back? She was fearless, her mother said, which makes me think she took chances. I'm worried about this woman being picked up by someone and even possibly being held captive.

These are just my own thoughts and opinions.

It bothers me that Melissa Lane has not been reported as found. Her mother seemed upset, worried, and suspected some kind of foul play, saying-- “I think it’s a predator. They could be stealing people for the sex-slave trade or it could be a serial killer,” said Kathy.

I'm most concerned over the details of her disappearance because it seems somewhat likely someone could have picked her up to give her a ride and abducted her. It's possible she may even be right now held captive by some sicko.

Comments and sis's reply a week ago are helpful in looking at this from other angles.

I still wonder why Melissa left her boyfriend's leaving her phone and belongings if she intended to go hiking.

This is a link to the State of California Department of Justice, missing persons.
Dia Kenshalo Abrahms
They spelled her last name wrong.
The description of her clothing is different.
They spelled her name wrong and didn't list her full first name, but threw in her maiden name. Shaking my head in disbelief.
That bothers me. They did spell her last name wrong. Everyplace else uses her full name Lydia "Dia" Abrams. It's nice they added her maiden name, but... errors made by officials bother me. They did describe different clothing, too. Where do they get their info?
Plus different clothing!
I would think they get their info from the local agency handling the investigation.
Apparently not.

It's a very hot summer weekend here in SoCal. It's getting up to the 106 degree mark in Idyllwild today. As you can tell, I'm staying cool inside and updating here.
Cases go quiet and cases go cold, and MOO, that's a shame if it's actually a criminal case.
You're very welcome! I'm trying to get a little summary together to post next.
Thanks for the summary. It appears Dia owned some beautiful money-producing properties. She did have strangers staying at her Air BnB property, so there's that. Also, Dia has been described as a millionaire. Someone may want it... money may be a motive to harm her.

Looks like it's only between Dia and Dia's Trust on June 18th

Thanks, I see it was between Dia and her the ABRAMS DIA KENSHALO TRUST. I wonder who acted on her behalf. It sure gets confusing, but you helped so much looking all this up and putting it together.

...snipped ... On another note, I did find out about some rather terrifying events she experienced with an immediate family member in the past and lived in fear the last four years.
@PomMom, hope all of Dia's friends and social circle care as much as you do. It sounds like there was someone Dia was afraid might harm her. I realize we can't discuss who, but it's enough to make us aware of looking at her disappearance from other angles.

Hope everyone has a cool and pleasant weekend.

Heading to the Redwoods for camping and cooler temps but hope we hear more from LE soon. I am back late next week.

She had the Air BnB rented out? That could be significant.

But you need a lot of identifying info to rent out thru Air BnB. So it seems like a bad way to go, if planning to murder someone.

 Sorry, if I wasn't clear.
I meant perhaps a stranger attending a wedding or staying at her Air BnB in the past singled her out for a future kidnapping. There were some past reviews that mentioned Dia, and even now people are leaving Air BnB reviews after staying there this mo. Lots of strangers coming and going. What I'm really most interested in is the person she might have feared for the last four years that was mentioned. She had money someone might have wanted, as well. MOO, this is such an open mystery that needs to be seen from all angles.

Yes, I wonder who actually entered the information into the database. Hip to hip is a very long scar! It isn't from surgery so I wonder how she got it?

I exhausted myself putting it all together to be honest...
Dia's trust attorney could have taken care of this. It could have been started well before she went missing. Due to COVID appearances before a judge, if required to amend a trust, might be quite delayed. Unless someone forged paperwork, etc. The 'sale' number is such a low, non-rounded 6 digit number.

Thanks, I see it was between Dia and her the ABRAMS DIA KENSHALO TRUST.
Yes, and the name in the state missing persons database is "Dia Kenshalo Abrams" (with the last name misspelled Abrahms - data entry error?).
Speculation: I wonder if someone reported Dia's name as Dia Kenshalo Abrams on purpose to make sure it is documented that the owner of the trust is missing?
Here's some really 'out there' speculation (must be the heat!): could you imagine, considering my above speculation, if someone misspelled Dia's last name on purpose to see who might contact law enforcement to have it changed (so that it matches the trust exactly)? Crazy thought I know !o_O

Yes, fearing someone for the last four years and then disappearing is quite a potential connection!
The family "said" Dia was heading toward the Garner Valley area. There was one Air BnB reviewer who posted in July that she and her family stayed at the Garner Valley house for about 1.5 months (exact dates not given, but the stay may have started in June since the review appears to have been posted for/in July). The reviewer does not report any concerns about digging, a bad smell, or other negatives during her stay. But the property is 5 acres.

I could be wrong so please someone correct me if I am. But I haven't seen the "sale" of the Ranch on 6/18/20 listed on any major online real estate site other than Realtor.com. Doesn't seem like it should have been listed anywhere given it apparently was to/from Dia and her trust.

Dia's case is now being handled by the homicide division, Case # D201590018. What would that indicate for her? Please share your insights.

  • #216
Not a very useful news article. MOO
2 missing Idyllwild hikers have La Jolla connections

MOO, all the other news articles still seem to lump the initial six missing people together, even now when two have been found. They are not all the same in circumstances of how they went missing. Lazy journalism. I hope her friends are able to keep her missing status out there and not let this case go cold.

Thanks for being here for Dia.
I haven't seen where it's now considered a Homicide case. That wouldn't surprise me though. I notice the case# on the missing person flyer. Is there a reason you now think it is considered a Homicide? There's two different investigators. They must be collecting and gathering info. Wonder if they have a POI yet.

We should start a separate thread for Dia and have a mod move the posts over.

  • #218
There actually was a thread started but I haven't looked there in a while. I had copied and pasted some of my earlier posts onto that thread, but it was quiet.
