I would not think so.

Though rental car fleets do offer a variety of car ranges, they strongly prefer popular makes and models that are easy to turn over when as they constantly sell their inventory.

The VW in question is not a mega popular seller, thus hard to unload. Likewise, it is of a higher trim level and I bet rental companies hate paying for extra features.

Look on the bright side, fewer ponds to fish in increases the chances of making a catch. As Inobu's research indicates, even the VW dealer pond is very small.

I think other sources besides a VW dealer (say, stolen as you mentioned, Car Max, or non VW dealers taking it in a trade in) are going to be bath tub sized ponds in regards to numbers of sales.

Where the car was purchased from doesn't really matter. It is the prediction a search number that is important.
When you can predict a number and your search falls close to that number then you know you are on the right track.

The CHP has done their part now its up to the DMV.
The DMV needs to flag all VW Sportwagon sales.

The DA should get a list of vehicle owners from the DMV.

When we lived in OC, it never occurred to my wife and I that leaving Friday morning during rush hour for 'Vegas could be advantageous traffic wise. Its, well, counter intuitive.

I would say Friday morning is a good time to travel East on the 91 (Las Vegas) relative to other times of day on Friday. Their are far more people who live in the IE and work in OC/LA compared to the other way around.

I gave up pretty quickly on looking for traffic flow stats by day and hour on the 91. I have no doubts it’s out there. Instead, I looked at the variable toll fees for the 91 Express Lanes by hour and day. Toll fees are adjusted through the day based on historical traffic patterns. For the 55 to Corona segment, eastbound tolls at 7 am are $2.50, $3.85 at noon, and peak at $8.10 at 2 pm on Friday. Westbound, tolls for the same times are $5.65, $2.50, and $2.50 respectively.

Is 7 am on a Friday the best time to head to Vegas? No, but it’s close. Certainly not bad enough to wait for traffic to possibly die down. And do you really want to lose a few hours of casino time? Vegas is just waiting for you to visit and take them for all their money.

Does anyone remember the recent case of Jennifer Farber Dulos?
When her estranged husband Fotis Dulos was discarding bloody evidence ALL around SW Connecticut, the police quickly obtained and shared videos of him doing this. The videos were obtained by cctv cameras, school bus cameras, doorbell cameras etc.

I think police have sifted through tons and tons of these videos.

All the public has seen is a pic one car that matched the mother’s description.
Recently the police released that there was a pink bumper sticker on the suspected car.
They didn’t show a still photo of the bumper sticker or say where they obtained information about the pink bumper sticker.
Was that something the mother recently recalled? Or was it from a video the police saw? If it was from a video, why didn’t they release that video still photo?

I am starting to wonder about this phantom car.

I’m scratching my head also. As I’ve mentioned, I don’t understand how there is no info regarding the occupants of the suspect vehicle other than gender and the location of each in the vehicle (female driver and male passenger). Early on, I considered maybe the windows were tinted, revealing only silhouettes of the driver and passenger. Several articles have since made it a point that the windows were not tinted.

With each passing day, theories I originally thought ridiculous are seemingly more possible.

The bigger the reward the better.

I do wonder if a person with information would hold off on calling it in based on the fact that the the original award of $50,000 has grown incrementally to the current amount of $400,000. 400k is 8 times higher than the original. I’m not saying they shouldn’t offer more as it becomes available. Just that the possibility of holding out for more reward money could be appealing considering how much it has grown since the original reward. MOO

On the other hand, sitting on a tip could allow someone else to swoop in with a different case breaking clue and claim the reward. I personally would have submitted the tip by now. I also think it is less likely that someone is still holding out for a reward > &400,000. MOO

I think the vague description came from mom. She was driving, so unable to take a good look, and rattled on top of that w the road rage incident. Possibly other drivers observed that as well, not paying close attention due to driving.

Great observations here. The car's owner probably uses the same few gas stations near home, wherever that is. Maybe a cashier or a repair person there will ping this car--employees often remember unpleasant or odd customers.

That is a good idea and likely to pay off far faster than my idea of see who does not send in a June payment.

I have not lived in "OC" / SOCAL" for many years. So, I am no longer familair with what lanes are toll or how they work.

Expanding on your idea, it might be able to trace the likely point the car entered into the freeway, then moved into the HOV lane- which is usually done at first opportunity.

So, ideally, car is in toll lane and they have a transponder. Identify where they entered the toll lane, then look at the ramps between that toll lane and the previous toll lane (for a moment, presume they did not miss a chance to get into a toll lane).

Then.... hit all commercial and red light type cameras around the likely on ramp possibilities for the car. Here's hoping that they have a toll tag!

Can someone explain, please the types of lanes and transponders related to that? Thanks.
