The sheriff's statement seems to validate the witness claim she saw Aramazd Sr. but invalidate her claim she saw Aramazd Jr.
I can't make sense of that in any of my imagined scenarios unless she's working for Aramazd Sr. to mislead the investigators.
Any other ideas why she reported she saw a child that was not there, according to detectives?

"At the lake, sheriff's Lt. Joe Mendoza said evidence and surveillance video showed the boy's father*had been at Lake Cachuma, but his son had not."

Actually, those sheriff's comments about the witness statements of seeing Sr and not Jr came from the store clerk, not the random woman. Her sighting has not been verified by anyone.

Thats the same thing I wrote yesterday that she could be helping him out. You just never know.
In any other case I would think this was a ridiculous, far fetched theory. In this one, I could totally believe it!

Right. But they also were going by surveillance video and 'evidence' to indicate the boy was not at the Lake with him.

And that makes me worry that maybe he did have the boy in his car earlier that morning, but disposed of him before he arrived at the Lake.

If you look at the youtube linked upthread, that area on the way to the lake is ripe with remote areas to hide or bury something.

I agree with you. So sad.

Let's just hope they are secretly searching.

Witness testimony can be so baffling and weird.

I was a witness to a fatal car accident when I was in my 20's/ I had no reason to lie or hide anything. I just happened to be a car sitting at the red light.

But two weird things happened. One, a small portion of what I remembered and testified to was INCORRECT. There was other evidence showing I was wrong about the color and make of the 3rd car involved in the crash. And I was CERTAIN about what I thought I had seen.

But another witness said something that I know was wrong. She thought one car turned in front of the other and it did not happen that way--the other 2 witnesses agreed with me---but she was adamant, and had no reason to lie...she was just mistaken...

Anyway, the mind is a complicated mechanism...and memories are also fragile and can warp and be distorted...

Exactly ! And recent information can affect/alter memory. I've seen it more times than I can count. I don't doubt that this witness saw something, but I do think it's very possible that whatever she saw became something else in her mind after she read the news about this case.

My gut feeling is that the Friday morning in Orange County is when AA jr. disappeared. And again, I'd like to know if the grandmother met them at Disneyland or rode with them in the BMW. Did she and AA part ways in Orange County, or did he drive her home before spending the day at Cachuma Lake?

I agree. It's possible she saw another man with his child and has convinced herself it was this father and his missing boy.

I'm interested to know this too. I'm sure LE has covered all of this though and has decided to keep this info close to the vest.

New information in this video that I haven't heard before. They also seem to be hopeful that Ara may still be alive.
In the video, it says he suffered a bump to the back of the head and a bruised rib. I'd go with "self inflicted" if anyone asked my opinion. Toxicology reports are not being released. I don't know what to think.. they found something, or didn't? I just don't know.

The initial leads have been vetted and it sounds like no update from LE about the woman at the lake. So if she did see them but it can't be verified, either she saw them BEFORE Ara was disappeared and the store clerk saw them AFTER Ara was disappeared, or he wasn't at the lake that day. They both provided the same window of time, and video surveillance has not yet been released IF there is any.

Either way, I don't think he was at the Arroyo Park on Saturday. jmo

My theory is either mom had dad bonked on head and took boy or Dad had his own head bonked and took boy.

I was just listenting to our local LA news. Reporter on the story talked quite a bit about this case. He said AA was supposed to meet the mom at 9 am. He said he had breakfast at 6am with the boy, after breakfast the boy wanted to go to the park before dropoff. My boys would have wanted to sleep in and watch cartoons not go to a cold park in shorts. It would be hard enough to get them out of bed at 6am especially being at Disneyland late and out around OC early morning. Passerby found AA passed out with no visible injuries at 6am. Thats not possible if he was eating breakfast at 6am. Attorney for AA was asked again last time AA saw son again no comment refused to answer.

You're missing a day in your timeline. Thursday was Disneyland, Friday was Orange County/the lake, and Saturday am was the "found unconscious"/Ara missing day.
