When I take any road trips with my husband and kids, I usually have a bag or purse right with me that contains my wallet, lip balm, Advil, a book or magazine, bottle of water, phone, sunglasses and house/car key ring. This is me packing light BTW.

It sits on the floor in front of me (as a passenger) and I would be very unlikely to leave home without any of these things.

Wouldn't it be great if we knew what, (if anything), was on the passenger side of the car...assuming he did the driving since she evidently liked to take 'travellers' with her when they got out of the vehicle to stretch their legs?

I would have a purse with all of that, plus ATM card, credit card, cash, comb, sunscreen, hat. I live in a much cooler climate, so I would also have a light sweater and long pants if I was wearing shorts. That probably doesn't apply to BT, but she most likely would have brought a change of clothing or three, and maybe a pair of sandals. MOO

I've thought this whole scene too. I carry a "work bag" to work (and literally everywhere else) which has my purse inside it plus a bunch of other stuff I never seem to need but feel I have to have with me 24/7. I wonder if the lack of her personal effects is what led LE to say they had no evidence of her being abducted?

I wouldn’t take this as past tense to indicate she was dead. Normal grammar. When they refer to the victim in the past, it’s different. Can’t give you an example right off the top of my head.

Most, if not all, of us women bring some essentials with us even on short trips. I am never without Advil, Immodium, and Charco-Tabs in my purse, for example, and I have combs everywhere. In my purse there's also a compact, sunglasses, wallet, lip gloss, etc. I want to know if her stuff was in that RV. MOO

IIRC, LE seemed to go straight from “he’s cooperating with authorities” to “arrested” in 6 weeks. I can’t recall anything about him being a suspect in the middle of that timeframe. There were no public announcement of search warrants etc.. everything was done quietly behind the scenes by LE. It was frustrating for the family and public because no one knew what was happening.

Was that a good strategy? Sometimes keeping things close means LE has info and doesn't want it leaked. Or they don't want the suspect to explain it away idk. Did the family feel like they got justice in the end? I can't imagine how frustrating it would be to be kept out of the loop on an investigation in the death of a loved one.

Here's what I don't understand- RT said he stopped to take a couple of pictures. So, let's just say, that's anywhere between 2-10 minutes- I mean, how many photos can you snap of the same thing? He said he saw her round the corner, and when he got there, she was gone.

Was it ever determined how far he was away from that corner and approximately how many seconds or minutes behind her, he was? Think about it- when she got to the camper- if she's there looking under several rocks for the keys to the camper or truck, he should have been there shortly after. What would make her just up and walk away, if he was just a couple of minutes behind her?

hmmm i don’t have the sharpest memory but i’ll try to recount as best as i can - robbie and said he needs to talk to daddy and that barbara’s missing. it was a long story that started at the beginning on friday morning and progressed chronologically throughout the day. the impression robbie gave me was that she was wearing a red cap, a bikini and carrying a travel cup with beer in it. they lost sight of each other for 5-10 minutes before she “vanished” and he went back to their rv to see if she had returned but it was still locked so that meant she hadn’t come back yet (they had put the key under a rock which they both knew the location of). so he went back to check a shaded cave that they had found together earlier thinking she may have been taking a break from the heat but she wasn’t there either. he still wasn’t worried at this point because.. i don’t remember why he said he wasn’t yet worried. maybe because they both knew the area? or this was a regular thing? idk not sure but he continued searching for her on his own. by around noon time it was getting terribly hot so he started getting worried and called 911. police arrived like 2 hours later and searched for her. robbie said throughout the day they had sniff dogs, horses, hundreds of people and even a helicopter (which unfortunately couldn’t use its infrared function because it was too hot out to get any useful readings) and nobody could find any trace of her. searched throughout the night too. nothing. she had just disappeared. robbie admits “it doesn’t make any sense” that she just wandered off and got lost and there’s no evidence.. which is why he suspects she may have been picked up in a car. also because from the spot where she went missing she had to cross a highway in order to get back to where their rv was parked. also apparently she took a 360 picture that morning from on top of a hill and the photo included a parking lot with some vehicles in it so the police are looking into their license plates/info.

robbie said that he just wants barbara back and will press no charges against the person who abducted her so long as they return her. the call was delivered in a measured tone but he broke down a bit at this point, was tough to hear ..abc reached out? idk if it was abc but some mainstream news outlet and i definitely heard nancy grace mentioned. robbie’s done some interviews as he wants to get the word out. but he hasn’t seen or read any of the released news and comments. it’s too much

he said he keeps returning to the spot where he lost her and overturning rocks and searching and searching hoping to find something. he was there the day he called us although i think he said he shouldn’t really go back there as protocol says he’s the first suspect. he was even held for 5hrs in a cop car on the first day. it’s been nonstop and nobody is sleeping. robbie said he had held off on calling daddy to tell him the bad news because it was such devastating news and he was hoping she would turn up.. but he couldn’t wait any longer. he also said it’s difficult to call into china and said his calls rarely go through so if we want to ask any questions or talk more we should call him.

Past posts he was not able to return to the site once LE and canines descended on the scene. He would have mixed up scents. I suppose he could have directed search via telecamera or drone.

Polygraphs aren't 100% accurate. Guilty people can pass them and innocent people can fail them. By announcing that his results were deceptive it makes you think why would a guilty person be so forthcoming. He didn't have to take it or release his results but he did. Being open can mean you have nothing to hide, or it means you ant to appear that way.

And he possibly believed he could ‘beat the machine.’

I recently discovered this site & have been following since the first thread & decided to join. Extending my heart and prayers to this family! It is amazing how much you can care about someone that you have never met! This beautiful woman is someone’s wife, mother, grandmother, aunt & friend! Just looking at her I can’t help but think of my own grandmother, who was just as adventurous as BT! They also share the same facial features. Also, my mother’s name is Barbara. So maybe this is a lot of the reason why I just can’t get Barbara Thomas out of my mind. I am heartbroken & praying for her safe return. I choose to BELIEVE that there is always HOPE! My husband and I travel a lot and camp/hike with our kids. Barbara has already influenced future trips that I will take with my family. We will take more precautions than we already do & we will encourage others to do the same every chance we get. Whatever the outcome, even though I have never met her, I will NEVER forget BARBARA THOMAS!

I do have one question.... Since RT failed his first poly claiming lack of sleep.... would he be able to RE-take the poly?

He knows that it doesn’t seem plausible that she got lost, and hasn’t been found.

The terrain just doesn’t seem conducive to that.
