Just as a last aside - does anyone think JeM is a victim in all of this?

No, in fact I will come out and say this....IMO, Not only are they NOT victims, they all either participated or have intimate knowledge of Bob's death.

Informal poll, as it were. What would you most like to learn from the upcoming episode of Disappeared?

  1. Any information on the timeline
  2. What the home repairs were and whether they were really "small" repairs - what was going on with the toilet/bathroom?
  3. What JeM bought at Home Depot
  4. Whether there will be any explanation for why JeM didn't return to Bob's the day after Bob disappeared
  5. Whether they'll re-enact JuM "changing the linens" and "getting the house ready" the day after Bob disappeared
  6. Whether they will re-enact JeM "canvasing OC and posting fliers" (JuM posted on 8/11/2009 that he was doing this)
  7. I can't wait to see the actresses playing the 3 daughters

I can't expect this but, I'd like to know exactly which phone Bob was using when daughter called that morning. PE said he had two, one in the den, and one on the kitchen table.

Then I would like to see an exact replica of the layout of the house, that revealed the location of the kitchen and den in relation to the bathroom. Just to see if those rooms were in a place you would have to pass if you were leaving the house to go to the store.

It's because some things about that call have always niggled me; the lack of detail regarding Bob's half of that conversation, and JeM interrupting someone on the phone. Maybe it's my English sensibilities again, but I find that a bit rude. Especially so if JeM had to go out of his way to find Bob, maybe even open a door, then just to make an announcement in the middle of Bob's conversation?

I suspect if the call took place in the kitchen, I would be happier. JeM in a hurry, passing through, speaking before he has seen Bob's on the phone (if the layout of the house makes that likely). If it took place in the den, and that's a separate room away from the others, I wouldn't be happy at all.

If I had gone into a private space to take a call, I just would not expect any nice person with good manners to follow me and deliberately interrupt.

That reminds me of a question I've had: what was the colour of the bathroom appointments? China lasts forever in almost any environment and if something china had been replaced in the bathroom, the broken thing might still be visible at illegal dump sites.

Jumping off this, did you see the video of the terrain I posted, and what do you think?

I was a bit surprised to see the vegetation looked like, mostly, lowish and fairly sparse shrubs. And that in most places along the road, a person could see for miles. Just throwing something off the side of the road would risk leaving it visible - especially, as you mention - shiny ceramics. Unless they were avocado coloured. That would be bad luck.

As for the earth itself, despite the fact it had obviously rained recently in the video, it looked very stony, sandy and light. Fairly easy to dig?

Thinking as I'm writing, I remember now trying to dig a part of my garden containing the remains of an old brick floor. It was horrendous. I broke the fork. I just don't know now.

I am only going on what I saw on the video mind you, and that wasn't that much. I couldn't keep my eyes off the road in case we crashed.

Add to that, the two persons KNOWN to be IN Bob's home within the first 48 hours of his disappearance have given contradicting information to police and MSM.

Two people who have placed themselves IN BOB's HOME can not get their story straight. Who's to blame for that? We are discussing MSM info here, which is perfectly within TOS.

If anyone has issues with TOS, I suggest they take them up with admin via pm. Not waste space within Bob's thread discussing them here.

Oh, and folks, don't forget the ignore user feature! It comes in handy sometimes. You can find it under user CP.

ETA: Seajay, don't let folks get to you. Use that ignore user feature. Bob is worth more than allowing someone to get exactly what they want and that is to distract away from the answers to finding Bob.

:ignore::ignore::ignore: Just look through your user CP options, adding someone to your ignore list option is there. (you just can't name who you add to your ignore list. :D) )

Thank you Cubby. I came back to do exactly that so I don't run into this problem again on another case. I remember Moderator Bessie saying once the ignore button is your friend. So is the report button. :)

I would just like to see the whole story on Disappeared, in the order in which it went down. I already programmed my DVR to record it. I can't wait. We may get a better idea of the area surrounding them in the hills, and a good look at the layout of the house. I wonder if they will replicate the house.

I live close enough that if it does go to trial, I can maybe go to it if it's allowed.

After spending hours thinking about it, I decided to stick around and ignore the bullies and board police and just report any problems.

This case is important to me. Bob is important to me. I'm still learning about the case. I may take a drive to Placentia and check out the area. I did that on the McStay case, took a trip to Fallbrook and Bonsall, went by the house the family lived in before they disappeared, to get my bearings about the case. And as I told one member here who was nice enough to PM me today, that I'm a local, I can add information of the area, weather, freeway system, school year, geography and some of the topography in the area.

Zwie, we have a lot of low lying brush around here. This area is actually considered desert. When the settlers first came here, it was arid with a lot of sage brush. Once water was brought to the area, East Coasters who moved here brought different trees and plants that weren't originally native to the area.

We have our beach areas, where the ground is sandy. I would have to see the video you are referencing to see what type of terrain you are looking at.

We also have our mountains as well, that have lots of trees when you get into the higher elevation. The higher the elevation, the more trees there are.

Hope that helps.

Bumping my own post for you Seajay. This is the type of terrain I'm talking about.

This video will give you a great idea of the mountain areas and conditions by Lake Arrowhead. But be warned; hold onto your hats guys, it is a very bumpy ride because these guys are crazy!

I will try and find some of lower level areas as well.

I have already found your posts really, really useful and am so glad you have joined this thread. I think there are loads of people who will want to attend the trial when it takes place. Including me. Hopefully, for those who can't, there will be people willing to post what's going on, as they did in the Kathleen Savio case. There was such a team effort there, it was amazing.

I want to take a moment to point everyone to the Caylee Anthony threads. Two sleuthers uncovered some very specific and disturbing evidence that might have been a game changer in Casey Anthony's trial.

Websleuthers. An attorney and an engineer. Using simple FOIA requests.

Link One

Link Two

Not hacks, not monsters, not stay at home Mom's with bon bons and a bag of chips.

Game changers. Note there are no threats of recriminations, in fact there is nothing to be said to dispute the FACTS of what they discovered.

They effectively cleared George Anthony of any possible hint of participation in this crime.
The truth is the truth is the truth.

Hats off to not only those sleuthers, but the dedicated men and women from all walks of life who refused to let Caylee's story fade away. Regardless of the perp's desire to move on with her own life after sadistically causing her daughter's death.

I just saw that believe, and was heading here to tell everyone. Glad you got there first, because I like the way you put it.

Good Morning to our friends who prefer to :lurk:... and a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone as well. :).

Happy Thanksgiving!

Now I'm off to google it, because I've never been sure what it is.

  • #895
A happy Thanksgiving to all from us as well. My thanks at this years table goes to all of the people who selflessly devote their time, energy, and resources to helping to search for the missing. I hope that by next Thanksgiving we will be thankful that justice for Mr. Harrod has been done.

According to wiki, it's like the German Oktoberfest but without the beer, or the bbq chicken, or the Germans.

It sounds to me more like a typical English Christmas day, especially the dinner. A special day. I wish you all a very happy time, and my thoughts are with Mr and Mrs Harrod. For Bob because he is not here to enjoy this day, and for Fontelle, because her husband isn't by her side on this special day, as he should be.

As the thread is quiet today, I thought I would take this opportunity to post another bit of good news. There's another mp thread here on WS, a young woman named Brittney Woods. I don't post, but always check in.

She went missing but there were delays in getting her listed. There was a cloud of misinformation and confusion around her disappearance, most stemming from two of the three sisters closely involved with the case. Timelines changed, nasty web posts about Brittney and those looking for her were made. Those in a position to know what might have happened clammed up and lawyered up. Probably the last person to see her alive was a male relative, who shot himself on the eve of his questioning over child offences.

Arrests came eventually, for other offences, including one sister. Still, nobody talked, people got parole and the last time I looked, posters were bumping for Brittney and disbelieving LE had seemingly done so little for her. Brittney's family were split down the middle and nothing was being done to find her. Two of the sisters, twins, stuck together like glue. The third, Brittney's own Mum, seemed reluctant to ask them the questions that needed asking.

I checked in today and it's all changed. Family members have been re-arrested for violations, KlassKids and LE have searched a specific area, and it looks like the cracks are beginning to show and someone's finally talking, now long prison sentences look likely. Phone records and odd visits by family members to the specific location are now being linked. LE hadn't given up at all. They were just waiting.

Brittney's not been found yet but I think she will be.
Bob has not been found yet, but I think he will be too.

I've driven through that general area within the last ten years. It's desert scrubland and it is incredibly deceptive. You think you could see anything above ground level for miles but there are actually lots and lots of places to hide. I'm betting that someone who knew what they were doing (say, had experience hiking in that environment) could hide a large duffel bag within 100 feet of the roadbed and no one on the road would see it.

I do agree that just throwing something large off the side of the road and letting it land at random would probably leave it visible from the roadside. But it just wouldn't take that much effort to conceal something the size of a large duffel bag; for instance, by finding one of the little unpaved and unmarked roads that access the desert and using that as the dump location.

If dumped in plain sight, even avocado china would stand out because it is shiny. And probably not quite the proper shade of green, either. Greens are very difficult to reproduce (strange, since it is one of the commonest colours in nature); the eye can discern tiny differences in shades of green and pick out the shades that don't exactly match. Plus, even avocado china fixtures have a white core to them because the avocado colour is a fired on glaze.

I'm glad to see you posting.

Local information is soooo helpful. One thing I'd love to get an idea of would be the local traffic patterns heading out and away from Bob's house. What routes would be easiest, what routes might have speed traps on them (do California police even do that? they sure do in Iowa), etc.

I am hoping that the house layout will be replicated. Judging from the overhead photos and news media videos, it's not a huge house and looks fairly straightforward (no bajillion and one funny roof angles, dormers and sticking out bits). Shouldn't be too difficult to either find a similar one to rent or to duplicate.

and jumping off your post, zwiebel. You mention dig, in Bob's case because the area is so mountaneous my first thought was always that he was disposed of, or dropped, into a deep ravine along with the discarded materials from the home. In a place with vehicle access but an area where the mountaneous road wouldn't get much foot traffic.

How deep of a ravine, IDK, and what access to trails, IDK, but for some reason I always envision Bob in an area with shelfy rocks near and above him. As if he could have slipped/rolled into a rocky area or rocks could have fallen on him. It's an awful thought, but the one that comes to me time and time again. :(
