Ok, it's late and I'm tired but wondering if this was ever covered--

11:30 p.m. Wednesday - Bryce Laspisa leaves Chico.

8/29 (Thurs.)

9:00 a.m. Thursday - Bryce runs out of gas near the Buttonwillow Rest Area, west of Bakersfield.

(There appears to be some discrepancies here--a few articles report him running out of gas Thursday morning and some reported him running out of gas Wed. night...the more I look at it, the more the 9am thur. seems like the correct statement because there's no way he made a 4 hour trip to buttonwillow wed. night in the 1.5 hours they stated)

Did BL go back to his apt Wednesday night after leaving Chico? Or was he headed down to Laguna Niguel straight from Chico?

If he DID head back to his apartment Wed night, he got an early start on his day if he ran out of gas at 9am in buttonwillow....like a 5am kinda early start. That's a pretty early start for a college kid, although not extremely abnormal. Just seems out of the norm for Bryce.

Any thoughts?

IIRC... We do not know exactly when... And for how long... Bryce was at his apartment before he took off on his "trip" south...

I feel this is a very important part of the puzzle, too!

Question for the "regulars" on this board. Is drug abuse not allowed to be discussed ever or just in Bryce's case? ;)

From what I have seen, it is a decision made on a case by case basis. HTH

ETA: If there were reports (MSM) of drug abuse or admissions by the family, the conversation ban on the topic would most likely be lifted. JMO

Great find, RoseGarden!

So ... BL was found, during a LE wellness check requested by his parents, "at a hotel" in Buttonwillow hours before he went missing.

To me, "at a hotel", means in the hotel. So I see three possibilities: sleep, drugs or sex. Since he didn't mention to his parents anything about the stopover at the hotel, I think we can rule out sleeping. If he had just stopped at the hotel to get ice, as someone suggested up thread, more than likely that bit of info would have been included in the family issued timeline and/or discussed at some point since.

Since no info has been provided, to date, by LE, MSM or the family about the hotel visit, I believe we are left with the drugs or sex possibilities - each suggest the involvement of another person/s.

So ... who did BL meet "at the hotel" in Buttonwillow less than 8 hours prior to him having gone missing, and for what purpose? Where was that person when BL got back in his SUV and headed south on I-5? Did BL know this person/s prior to arriving in Buttonwillow? Did BL communicate via phone or computer with this person/s prior to arriving in Buttonwillow or in the few hours since departing Buttonwillow? Where is this person/s now?

The crash had to happen between 4:20 a.m. and 5:15 a.m, It had gone down a 15-foot ravine nose first and landed on the passenger side. Bryce (or someone) has used an emergency tool to break the back window

Friday 5:30 am officers of the California Highway Patrol found his 2003 Toyota Highlander SUV on its side at the bottom of a 15-foot ravine on the Castaic Lake Main Boat Launch access road(Main Ramp Rd. The back window had been shattered.
cell phone, laptop and wallet inside the vehicle.
Quoting above from an earlier thread. I didnt realise that the police were at his car within an hour of him having the crash. Wow. HE could only have walked around 3 miles in that time, not sure about if in a car. But they were on it pretty quick!

Drug abuse would be allowed in general if it was reported in MSM or by a verified insider. In this case, the verified insider has stated it is not a problem and it has not been reported in MSM so it just muddies the waters.

Again, please do not quote directly from Facebook. Additionally, we NEVER post someone's name and address for any reason.

I think this new (to us, anyway) bit of info RoseGarden discovered about BL possibly being at a hotel during his time at Buttonwillow just might lead to clues into his whereabouts, or his intentions, or at least fill in some of the gaps to this mystery.

Quester: your post shows the different possibilities this new info can open up!

A scenario I came up with is that during his time at the Buttonwillow Rest Area, he met someone new (wholesome or not) that he struck up a friendship with, and that person was going to stay at the Buttonwillow motel BL was found to be at, later. S/he invited BL to hang out there with him or her, and he did. Something to investigate, maybe?

So, again, I wonder if the Laspisa family is aware of this info and if they've thoroughly checked it out already? Anyone know if RoseGarden has passed this information on to the Laspisas, or does anyone else have the know-how to pass on the information to them?

Thank you thank you thank you!

This is so important. I wish someone would directly ask the parents or uncle if there was a motel charge in Buttonwillow, or find out if he got a room through management at the motel. And then I wish LE would really focus on the fact that SOMETHING was going on in buttonwillow, and that it probably plays a huge role in his disappearance.

I've been going back to Buttonwillow throughout this case. Something went on there. Bryce spent more that 10 hours there, maybe up to 14. Now we find out he was at a hotel there. As Quester said, there are three reasons for getting a hotel room. Sleep, sex, drugs. Because he pulled off at 2:00 am in Castaic, 1 hour 43 minutes away from Buttonwillow because he was TIRED and needed to get some sleep, we can just about eliminate that in Buttonwillow he slept.

And he said he was hanging with friends later. This is what he told his mother and the Kern County Sheriff who did the welfare check.

Buttonwillow is a place to pass through. Quickly. It's not a place to hang around all day long and into the night, when you are traveling, on a short holiday weekend, and you are headed elsewhere. It just isn't.

So something was going on there, something happened there that changed the course of his journey, and that culminated in the SUV crashing on the Main Launch Ramp at Castaic Lake. IMO, JMO, MOO

My questions are: Who asked for the 'well check' in Buttonwillow; was it specifically at a certain motel; if not, how was he located seemingly easy? Also seems his car was located quickly and easily considering reports say it was 15 feet down a ravine. It seems to me he was at a certain place and then he just disappeared. It wasn't as if he left and was never seen again. tia

His mom made a missing person report then had them ping his phone.

Did we ever find out who gave or sold Bryce Vyvanse?

So, does that mean he had his phone with him and perhaps he was ignoring phone calls? ty

I don't think so, I don't think that's ever come up. Maybe one of our insiders can clear that up for us??

I would imagine he got hold of the pill(s) in the same way all people do when they want them, bought it or asked a friend.

  • #497
I wish we could find out if cash was found in Bryce's wallet or not. If there was and he planned this disappearance seems he would have taken it.

Obviously but if LE knew who it was

The ping request was approved for the cell phone, and once the radius of the ping was provided to LE, they drove the area and found the vehicle / Bryce, according to the transcript in the earlier link. Good that cell phones allow for this purpose once the forms are filled out for the permission aspect.
