I would think if he were injured enough from the crash to have spilled blood in or on the vehicle, there would be a trail of blood drops or other signs that he had left the vehicle badly hurt. None seem to have been found, at least that we are aware of.
My vote is A, until further info comes in that disputes that theory.
We are now on thread #4. I think we've discussed every possibility we can think of...no matter how remote. For those of you who have been following this from the beginning, I'm interested in how you feel about things right now....just a quick poll. What is your gut telling you?:
A) He's alive and well and intentionally hiding out (with or without help from someone)
B) He's alive and wandering/lost with amnesia or some other TBI or mental illness that's preventing him from knowing who he is
C) He's no longer with us (whether foul play or suicide)
honestly my gut really isn't leaning me towards any scenario. I just don't have enough details to decide.

I go back and forth. That unaccounted for time bothers me.......alot. What was he doing? Why was he there so long? He didn't know anyone there. I keep going back to him waiting, burning time for something or someone. I think he called someone in the unaccounted time from Chico to Buttonwillow and made a plan. Then he waited in Buttonwillow for whoever was part of the plan to catch up to him. Then they proceeded south to Castaic, where I think the two trips past the cam on Lake Hughes Road, he was looking for a place to ditch the SUV. I think perhaps, whoever caught up with him, as part of his plan, was waiting outside the view of the cameras while he ditched the SUV, then he walked away. The bloodhounds followed his trail out of the park.
I am also very curious about the inability to get the phone records by now. Our family has an ATT family plan and I can RIGHT NOW log on to the account and see ALL of the telephone activity in real time up to a couple of hours ago for all five lines that are attached to the account, so I can see phone numbers for voice calls and text messages. (One caveat: For those with iPhones the iMessage service is not a text message, so it just shows up as nonspecific data usage, not revealing what other iPhone user received or sent the iMessage.)

He started his trip on Wednesday, so he would have missed two days of classes, IF he had classes every day. Sometimes, you only have MWF classes, or a combination (like MW or MF) plus evening classes. I remember my first year, I could ONLY get evening classes, each one three hours, one day a week. Other years I only went on MWF or TTH.
My point is that if he only had classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, he would have only missed one day. That's not really stopping going to classes, since he originally said he'd be back on Labor day. That's skipping a day (or two), pretty common for most college students.
In the below KFI interview (about 18.5 minutes in) mom says that they already went through the AT&T records early on so they must be waiting for something more in depth from them (though I don't know what that would be?)

Not sure if you did this pic or someone else, but he would have a lot more facial hair by now if he hasn't shaven. There is a pic on his FB sitting in a car with his gf with more facial hair than is shown here. Maybe 1-2 weeks worth?
