May not be related, but the Wal-Mart molester below is a guy we were looking at during the Amber Dubois case. He molested two 5-6 year old girls in 2 Wal-Marts in San Diego in April/May of 2009. I never read if he was caught or not. While the pic of his truck is similar to that in the Amber Dubois case, this is from a Feb 12, 2010 article about the truck of interest in Amber’s case: “Detectives later learned that the truck belonged to the parent of a student at the high school. They questioned the parent and determined the truck probably had nothing to do with the girl's disappearance.” FYI, this is how they describe the young male seen walking with or near Amber: “The young man is described as tall and dark-skinned, about high school age. No one has come forward to identify him or even to verify he was walking with Amber and wasn't just someone walking past her.”

Look at the Wal-Mart suspect in the video and attached pics. The victims were much younger but he does fit the physical description of Gardner, doesn’t he? The man is described as white, 25 to 30 years old and about 6 feet tall, with a medium build and short, brown hair.

SAN DIEGO — Police are asking for the public's help to find a man who molested two children at San Diego-area Wal-Mart stores in April and May.

In the first incident, the man fondled a girl at the Wal-Mart on College Grove Way in Oak Park in the early evening of April 1. The second occurred at the Wal-Mart on Shawline Drive in Kearny Mesa on Sunday afternoon, police said. Neither girl, who police said are 5 and 6, was seriously injured. Both were separated from their parents in the store when the man approached them.

The man is described as white, 25 to 30 years old and about 6 feet tall, with a medium build and short, brown hair. He wore a blue, short-sleeved shirt and jeans.

In the second incident, the man was seen getting into a 1998 to 2006, full-size, four-door truck similar to a Ford crew cab. The truck is dark, possibly burgundy, and has a silver or chrome storage box in the bed.

Anyone with information on the molester's identity or similar incidents is asked to contact the San Diego Police Department's Child Abuse Unit at (619) 531-2260 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. –J.L.J.

As a parent of a 17yr old daughter, this story is so heartbreaking for me. My stomach is painfully sick as I read all the comments here. So sad.

This is all so sad, I feel for her parents as I can't imagine what they're going through right now. Prayers go out to her family and friends and still hoping that Chelsea is found safe. Also, prayers going out to Amber Dubois' family that they can finally find out what happened to their daughter.

Obviously something different has to be done with SO's. What is being done is not working. I can think of one thing I'd like to do but I'd probably get a TO if I posted it. There has to be something that can keep our children safe from these monsters!!!!!

One thing that I have gotten from WS is the reality of what is out there. I'm so much more careful in my surroundings than ever before. I have plans if I'm ever put in a position to use them and regularly inform younger female family members who are in high school and college in how to keep themselves safe and always be aware of what and who is around you.

I don't think she's been found yet but they have hard evidence with DNA I believe

Looks like a match to me. The photo supplied with his arrest looks like he has been working out as his neck is quite large but nevertheless it looks like you have solved those cases. I wonder if the police have figured this out by now?

He was charged last night and no...she's not been found.

This is a sad day for criminal justice and for the citizens of San Diego County.
I would like to know more about this offender, his criminal background, and the circumstances leading to his status as a registered sex offender.
Changes need to be made! What can we do? We see this situation over and over here on WS. A RSO re-offends despite probation surveillance, public registration, and rehabilitation efforts.
Still praying hard for Chelsea to be found alive, maybe he has her confined. Please, God.

You know I was thinking about the report of this guy being arrested with caked mud on him. I thnk it was originally reported waist high but then someone else said knee high ...do we know the level of mud on him exactly? Was it waist or knee high? Need clarification on this info.

Also is the lake muddy in certain areas and if so what areas of the lake are muddy?

Another thing to consider is .....was this person burying something and got muddy or was this from being in the lake? How cold is that lake at this time of the year? And if this mud was all over him wouldnt that in of itself leave a trail of his movements?

If this person was identified quickly after the dna was found on Chelseas panties than perhaps the LE and FBI had him under surveliance soon after those items were found.

I would also like to know when the SO's family moved into San Diego ? Has anyone been able to check the public tax assessor records for information on home ownership. If they rented than that would not be helpful. I get a feeling this guy has been around this area for awhile to be so comfortable. It doesnt sound like he just started living there a few days back as reported earlier.
