i think i read that he was visiting his mother for a few days, which is maybe something he did often enough to be comfortable in the area...

TravelingBug, do we know if they are using the Cadaver Dogs yet on the park and surrounding area? I know they had the tracking dogs and were quite clear they were not cadaver dogs. I know I am assuming the worst but we have not been given much in the way of good news lately.

You know I was thinking about the report of this guy being arrested with caked mud on him. I thnk it was originally reported waist high but then someone else said knee high ...do we know the level of mud on him exactly? Was it waist or knee high? Need clarification on this info.

Also is the lake muddy in certain areas and if so what areas of the lake are muddy?

Another thing to consider is .....was this person burying something and got muddy or was this from being in the lake? How cold is that lake at this time of the year? And if this mud was all over him wouldnt that in of itself leave a trail of his movements?

If this person was identified quickly after the dna was found on Chelseas panties than perhaps the LE and FBI had him under surveliance soon after those items were found.

I would also like to know when the SO's family moved into San Diego ? Has anyone been able to check the public tax assessor records for information on home ownership. If they rented than that would not be helpful. I get a feeling this guy has been around this area for awhile to be so comfortable. It doesnt sound like he just started living there a few days back as reported earlier.

The lake isn't necessarily muddy itself, but ::everything:: here is very muddy and mushy because we have had a ton of rain. I mean, my kids get coated in mud just on Sundays at church because things just aren't drying out because it's been one rain spell after another.

People can't swim or go in the water of the lake, only boats, and anyone doing otherwise would attract a lot of attention.

Truthfully, the area was under such surveillance, and there continue to be LEO everywhere, I can't imagine him disposing of Chelsea as late as yesterday, and certainly not in the lake area. Perhaps somewhere else, as everything is muddy, but not right there - it's too closely being monitored right now and there were too many helicopters up, etc. And there's no way he didn't know that - both from seeing them and because it's all over tv and radio here.

I still question how muddy he could be and Hernandez Hideaway let him come in. I really wonder if that's been a bit exaggerated...plus, he had to know that would attract attention to himself, don't you think? And I can't seem him wanting to do that.

I think it is a complete outrage that this 🤬🤬🤬's previous offense was lewd & lascivious acts on a minor under 14 and he was out free to take down more victims. These people cannot be rehabbed. When a sexual crime is committed against a minor, particularly under 14, the perpetrator should be locked up and just throw away the key. How many times do we have to go down this road before changes are made?

They are still saying only SAR dogs. They've not publicly stated (or not that I've heard) anything about cadaver dogs, though that obviously seems to be the likely end.

From what I've seen and heard, it sounds more like they're looking at the lake area for evidence, and that she's either a) IN the lake, or b) somewhere other than the area surrounding the lake (as in not where they've had dogs of any sort - or in a home, or somewhere between here and Temecula, etc.)

I'll try to find out for sure.

Apparently another presser with the sheriff has said it's SUSPICION of murder and rape because that is standard in these sorts of cases (and I'm guessing the rape part is confirmed and NOT simply suspicion based on the DNA found) and that it's those charges to hold him while they continue to look IN CASE she was actually killed.

For what it's worth...and that's why he said they're holding out hope she can be found alive last night.

Her uncle being interviewed on Fox, now.

Since Gardner is from Lake Elsinore, there is the possibility that he used the Ortegas to hide her body, if he killed her. Many bodies have been found out there. But in the forefront of my mind Im gonna have hope she is alive.

Just a thought....(though I haven't found anything online to confirm he had mud on him)....perhaps he had dried mud on his legs UNDERNEATH whatever he was wearing when he was arrested. As if he was wearing shorts in the mud and then put on a pair of clean jeans over the dried mud before going into the restaurant? The mud wouldn't be noticeable until after he was arrested and stripped of his clothes. Again, just a thought, if the report of him being caked with dried mud is accurate that would explain why no one noticed it in the restaurant.

Are you speculating that they may have found her panties or is this something you have heard from some other source? Do we have any inside info on what searchers have found?

Since Ortega highway originates right in the middle of the Lake Elsinore area I am positive he would be very familiar with it and how desolate a drive it can be. It is not uncommon to drive that highway and not see but a few cars the entire drive into Orange County....especially at night. It is very isolated. I pray Chelsea is not out there!

The mud was never reported, IIRC. It was a comment in a comment section of her facebook group.

I to am outraged at the way our justice system deals with SO especially child SO. My view in this case is the guy just profected his crime. Last time he was caught, and had a victim that could identify him. This time it looks as though he did away with the victim to possibly get away with the crime.

I hope LE is interviewing his parents, and not going light on them. They had to have a suspision in this case and in the other attack. I hope they are not covering for the son.

  • #576
Anyone else think there is a possibilty that he planted the evidence after removing her from the park? I find it odd that his dna is on her underwear if she was not wearing them after the attack. I'm thinking maybe he took her by force to his parents home loaded her in the car. did what ever (I'm hoping she is alive) and then seen the coverage of her missing went back over night and planted the evidence not realizing his dna was on the clothing. Maybe not...just trying to figure out the dna part...

More than likely, he jumped her while she was running and dragged her off the running path into the woods. I doubt he transported her anywhere. Evidence was left at the scene and he disposed of her somewhere nearby. I just can't see him dragging an alive athlete out of the park, nor a body.

So sad...we'll find out soon enough.

Can anyone lead me to a news article that states it was HER underwear? All I have read states "underwear" not HER underwear (meaning Chelsea's.) I know we are all naturally assuming the underwear belongs to her but do any of the articles specifically state that?

Bravo to LE and other agencies involved in this investigation. I am confident they will find Chelsea and bring her home to her family. I just wish she was alive. I am very happy they caught this sick 🤬🤬🤬!!!

http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/...6601,Missing-teen-Waubonsie_SCN030110.article

The effort won't let up until the teen has been found, her mom said.

"We are still looking for Chelsea," she said. "That focus has not changed direction or speed in any way whatsoever. We're going to find her and we're going to bring her home — whatever it takes, wherever she is, anywhere around the world."

I wonder if they think he has sold her? It is kind of strange that he went from a child under 14 to a 17 yr old. sadly most pedo's have a certain age group they are interested in.
