A body was discovered Tuesday during the search for a missing Poway teenager, according to several law enforcement sources.

Chelsea King, 17, has been the subject of an extensive search effort near Lake Hodges since last week. John Albert Gardner III was arrested Monday in connection to the case of the missing Poway High School student.

The body was found near Lake Hodges. No other details are available yet.

We have her body - he couldn't keep that from us. Her parents can now lay her to rest and we go after this creep with everything.

Even knowing this was the likely outcome, it doesn't make it easier.

My mom said she saw his neighbor in Escondido interciewed this AM on local news, but I didn't see it. The woman knew he was a registered sex offender and told her kids that they were not to go near the man. I told my mom that was a JOKE because if this guy wanted her kids, they weren't going to have ANY say in the matter. Just telling your kids to stay away isn't going to protect them.

I agree. I'm a hardcore realist. I try to see things from all angles without my emotions getting in the way. I believe in the law of the land. No our justice system is not perfect, but its all we got and we have to work with it. I do not ascribe to the torch and pitchfork mentality because things are rarely that simple and most people in this country want it to be.

Crime is complicated. Criminals are complicated and the reality is that you can teach and preach all day, but if someone wants to kidnap/rape/murder you or your child then they can or at least attempt to. People just have to be aware and protect themselves, but truly at the end of the day its a crap shot and most people dont wanna see it that way.

There are evil people walking around that have never been caught, no criminal record, or anything. They just hide amongst us everyday. They are our neighbors, co-works, friends, family etc. yeah its a creepy thought, but true.

IMO prevention can help, but erradication is futile. Too many variables within the SO community. You can only learn when they talk and half the time I think they are full of it.

Were there cars in the parking lot? Has anyone come forward? If he moved her, he had to get her from the place where they found the DNA to his vehicle. Just wondered, as many parks have security cameras. If he placed her in the lake, he had to do it quickly, as there are many people who walk the park. Did he really have time (or common sense) to tie her to bricks (he'd have to have those prepared and ready to go).

It seems to me he didn't have a lot of time -- according to the time line we already have. This makes me think that he may have placed her quickly in the lake. Shouldn't decomp have already allowed for the body to rise (unless she is caught up in the reeds).

Good God - NOT ANOTHER ONE!!!

I need to get to work quicker to put my watchdog coalition into effect!!

JUDGES WILL BE RESPONSIBLE for their rulings when it comes to these MONSTERS!!!!!!

We as the public are NOT informed and there are no resources to inform us! I am going to make these changes!!! So when we go to the voting polls we have power to keep our streets free of these criminals!!!

God Bless Chelsea and her family - I can not imagine their devastation. They continued to hold out hope and not think the worst like any real worried concerned parent would in this situation!!!! And they are being hit with the worst thing ever!!!
