Perhaps Mario F. Garcia's April 24 trial moving to Sacramento County is a good thing. In case you've forgotten, he's the suspect in the disappearance of Christie Wilson from the Thunder Valley Casino.
Having Garcia in Sacramento puts him that much closer to the state Dept. of Justice, which in the next few days is expected to release test results performed on new evidence found in Garcia's car.
Turns out a little more than a week ago, DOJ technicians gave the Garcia car another once-over, doing so when the Placer County District Attorney's Office requested another look.
We're told that those technicians found blood residue somewhere in the back seat. We know it was blood because technicians quickly performed presumptive tests confirming it. Samples were taken to the sophisticated DOJ lab and now we all wait for the results.
Of course, those results could be bupkus, just as so many other hopeful breaks have faded away during this lengthy investigation.
The latest of those mirages happened last week after a young man reported seeing some dogs flee with what looked like a human foot. Searchers immediately assembled at the Highway 174 scene, only to find the item to be a rubber foot.
Meanwhile, some local legal minds are wondering why Garcia's defense team agreed to moving the trial.
Garcia has all along refused to waive time, and the speedy trial guarantee was working against the prosecution. Now investigators have several more months to strenghten their case.
