GUILTY CA - Christie Wilson, 27, murdered, Roseville, 5 Oct 2005 *found in 2020*

Re: Justine Vanderschoot - it was a shot in the dark, but I checked the location near Applegate last month. Nothing.... seems we're on the same page. As for Garcia's kidnapping thing that Debbie Boyd mentioned - yes it's the same incident as the weapons charge in Oakland.

News: Check out the Auburn Journal in the a.m. - I heard there's something new on the case... couldn't get anything specific.

Attorneys for accused killer Mario Garcia have succeeded in securing a change of venue for their client's upcoming murder trial in connection with the October disappearance of Christie Wilson.

Judge Larry D. Gaddis granted the request Thursday in Placer County, approving a move of the trial to Sacramento County. Gaddis cited extensive media coverage of the case as the reason for his decision. While news accounts of Wilson's disappearance are relatively equal between Placer and Sacramento counties, Sacramento's larger jury pool allowed a greater potential for an unbiased jury, according to Gaddis.

~snip~

Gaddis will still preside over the trial when it is scheduled to begin April 24 in Sacramento.

Don't believe every thing you see on TV. FYI Judge Gaddis wasn't anywhere near Dept. 13 of Placer County Superior Court where Mario Garcia and one of his attorney's was this afternoon. Gaddis will preside over the proceedings in Sacto., but he never ruled re: the case Thursday.

I think TV reporters should leave the office once in a while and do their job in person.
I'd read the paper if I was you

If anyone is going to attend the trial, the cheapest parking garage in the area is on H Street, between 7th and 8th.

Just exit Hwy 5 on J street, turn left on 10th and turn left again on G. You can turn into the garage on the left.

There are plenty of places to walk for lunch, don't move your car until you're ready to leave. It's not always possible to get back in the parking lot. They fill up quickly.

Thanks, do you know if the "kidnap - rape attempt" that christies mom had mentioned is separate from the assualt with deadly weapons charge? Looks like 3 separate things so far, in order, kidnap-rape attempt, car in bay, and deadly weapons charge. I'll recheck the timeline. Thanks again
Whoa, are we talking about Garcia or the Kennedys?

and Thank you! for the directions to the downtown parking!! I ALWAYS get lost there! LOL!

I found this article in my Auburn Journal on Sunday - in the "Opinions" by Jim Ruffalo:

Perhaps Mario F. Garcia's April 24 trial moving to Sacramento County is a good thing. In case you've forgotten, he's the suspect in the disappearance of Christie Wilson from the Thunder Valley Casino.
Having Garcia in Sacramento puts him that much closer to the state Dept. of Justice, which in the next few days is expected to release test results performed on new evidence found in Garcia's car.
Turns out a little more than a week ago, DOJ technicians gave the Garcia car another once-over,
doing so when the Placer County District Attorney's Office requested another look.
We're told that those technicians found blood residue somewhere in the back seat. We know it was blood because technicians quickly performed presumptive tests confirming it. Samples were taken to the sophisticated DOJ lab and now we all wait for the results.
Of course, those results could be bupkus, just as so many other hopeful breaks have faded away during this lengthy investigation.
The latest of those mirages happened last week after a young man reported seeing some dogs flee with what looked like a human foot. Searchers immediately assembled at the Highway 174 scene, only to find the item to be a rubber foot.
Meanwhile, some local legal minds are wondering why Garcia's defense team agreed to moving the trial.
Garcia has all along refused to waive time, and the speedy trial guarantee was working against the prosecution. Now investigators have several more months to strenghten their case.

Let's hope so! (referring to last sentence here!)

Change of Venue Granted For Mario Garcia Murder Trial

Attorneys for accused killer Mario Garcia have succeeded in securing a change of venue for their client's upcoming murder trial in connection with the October disappearance of Christie Wilson.

Judge Robert McElhany granted the request Thursday in Placer County, approving a move of the trial to Sacramento County. McElhany cited extensive media coverage of the case as the reason for his decision. While news accounts of Wilson's disappearance are relatively equal between Placer and Sacramento counties, Sacramento's larger jury pool allowed a greater potential for an unbiased jury, according to McElhany.

Followup on the clumps of hair found....

Several tangled clumps of long, platinum-blond hair found along a roadside in Bridgeport are human hair extensions and do not belong to women missing from the area, sheriff's officials said Tuesday.

Sheriff's deputies spent several hours last month searching for the possible source of the hair, which was found strewn in 13 spots along Pleasant Valley Road.

A second look at suspect Mario Garcia's car revealed possible blood stains that could provide the prosecution with stronger evidence in the Christie Wilson murder trial.

Two weeks ago evidence technicians from the Department of Justice checked Garcia's white Toyota Camry for trace evidence.

~snip~

Dena Erwin, spokeswoman for the Placer County Sheriff's Department, confirmed Tuesday that additional evidence had been sent to a Department of Justice lab.

"The trace evidence team was requested right after the car was impounded (in October)," Erwin said. "They were backlogged because they work statewide."

She said about two weeks ago the technicians took a second look, citing the fact that the Sheriff's Department does not have the proper equipment to check for trace evidence as the reason. Additionally, she said the car appeared to have been cleaned by someone, making visible evidence difficult to locate.

Placer County authorities hope a stain found in the back seat of murder defendant Mario Flavio Garcia's car will be a clue in the Oct. 5 disappearance of Christie Wilson.
Specialists for the state Department of Justice are analyzing the trace evidence to identify the stain, said Dena Erwin, a spokeswoman with the county Sheriff's Department.

"They found something suspicious, but we don't know if it's blood or not," she said. "There are indications that someone had attempted to clean the car's interior."

Got news for this old boy...a change of venue isn't going to help him one bit. I just wish that they would find Christy's body...for the sake of her parents.
I wonder what time this guy got home compared to the time that he left the casino? Seems that if LE knew that they would have a good idea how far he might have gone. He probably just threw her somewhere. He probably didn't have a shovel in his vehicle.

It was reported that Garcia's wife Jean doesn't know the exact time that he arrived home from the casino....it was still dark was the account I recall. She's not talking either. What the hell she thought when she saw him in the condition he was in, I just don't know. Scratches on his chest and arms, black eye.....ya think she woulda noticed as his coworker sure did.

I think the time was 01:19 when his car was seen leaving the casino parking lot...just 6 minutes or so from the time the cameras captured their image leaving the casino itself 01:13.

Some of this has been touched on here.
