But he didn't go to Irvine last night, he went from San Diego to Corona to Riverside to Big Bear.
Thanks, I didn't know that.

If he's heading for Mexico, he's very confused because he's going the wrong direction completely. He's more apt to be going to Vegas. Big Bear to Lucerne Valley to Barstow...
No doubt it's locked down, down there.
Yeah, that whole boat thing just doesn't ring true.
I know. But I don't think he ever intended to take the boat. Red herring perhaps. The "rope around the propeller" might be a convenient dodge. If he still has his LAPD cop killing blood boiling, what was he going to do in Mexico? Then again, one cannot say what this troubled mind will do next, or where the next path will lead.Somebody tied the old man up. And I bet they found his prints on the boat. I think it was true. He was in the LA Harbor patrol when he was a cop. So it makes sense that he would go to the water since he knows it so well.
I am really surprised he got the ropes wrapped around the propeller though. He must be really nervous and anxious.
Thistle, not if he keeps his head down...there are folks in LA who don't know what he looks like, and while that's hard to believe, it's true. There are tons of folks here who don't follow things like this like we do...
I don't think he was going to Mexico. I think (and posted earlier) that he could easily go up the coast and terrorize from 1 mile in (he's got a Barret 0.50 Cal which is a sniper rifle, and is accurate to well over 1 mile). Plus, as many drug and illegal runners can tell you, there are tons of coastline here that are accessible from the ocean, but not patrolled or watched from the ground.
I think Dorner is cunning enough to tell someone he needs their boat to get to Mexico, but instead, go north. JBean said it earlier - a lot of red herrings are around. I agree.
Wicked, wicked man.

If I lived up there I would feel like leaving. He may have broken into a cabin but I wouldn't count on him a) being able to stay there without supplies or b) wanting to stay there.
He needs a car and likely has more plans. He is going to be on the move at some point. Frightening as hell.
Katy, he may have hijacked the boat, but I don't believe he'd take it to Mexico. Does anyone know if he tried to hijack the boat before he shot at the officers or after? I'm confused with that point.
