But he didn't go to Irvine last night, he went from San Diego to Corona to Riverside to Big Bear.

Thanks, I didn't know that.

Phew! Finally heard from my daughter who lives up on the mountain. She's just now on her way home from work.(she works in San Bernardino)

She said she'd heard about all the crazy LE activity . Anyway, she's on her way home going up Hwy 18 and she said she can't believe all the LE! She's never seen anything like it.

She promised me she'd go right home and lock her door. I just sent her a text and told her to 'get her gun out.'

He may have already left the mountain before they even discovered the vehicle on fire. He could have gone over the back of the mountain towards Las Vegas, IMHO.

I hope they catch this guy soon. He's a menace to society!

I will say this...it will be a very scary night here in the area. Very scary.

I worry that when I wake, there will be other officers killed, or their families killed. I don't think he stayed up there...I think he came back down somehow...

Like I said way early in this thread, this is starting to feel a bit like the end game of the Night Stalker time...tense, tense, tense.

If he's heading for Mexico, he's very confused because he's going the wrong direction completely. He's more apt to be going to Vegas. Big Bear to Lucerne Valley to Barstow...

He was about 15 minutes from the Mexican border when he stole the boat from the old man at the San Diego Harbor. So it is very puzzling that he went so far in the other direction.

But maybe he thought that a 6 ft tall, 260 lb muscle built black man was going to be a bit too noticeable in Mexico. Ya think?

I think Vegas is a good guess.

I really hope they get this guy and nobody else gets hurt.

Like many of you I think this whole Bear Mountain event is a distraction ... he is still in LA and I hope to God the cops have a trap to stop this lunatic.

This is so scary. I hope they catch him soon before he hurts anyone else. This guy is a lunatic. A lunatic that has police and military training. I don't know whats' more frightening than that.

Well, he's alone, he's been running on adrenaline after murder & trying to escape, eventually fatigue should set in, & his outcome of 'suicide by LE' will be fulfilled...

Thistle, not if he keeps his head down...there are folks in LA who don't know what he looks like, and while that's hard to believe, it's true. There are tons of folks here who don't follow things like this like we do...

I don't think he was going to Mexico. I think (and posted earlier) that he could easily go up the coast and terrorize from 1 mile in (he's got a Barret 0.50 Cal which is a sniper rifle, and is accurate to well over 1 mile). Plus, as many drug and illegal runners can tell you, there are tons of coastline here that are accessible from the ocean, but not patrolled or watched from the ground.

I think Dorner is cunning enough to tell someone he needs their boat to get to Mexico, but instead, go north. JBean said it earlier - a lot of red herrings are around. I agree.

Wicked, wicked man.

Yeah, that whole boat thing just doesn't ring true.

No doubt it's locked down, down there.

I guess that's why he was trying to take a boat in. I don't think he would try to drive or walk in. It must be swarming with LE right now.

Yeah, that whole boat thing just doesn't ring true.

Somebody tied the old man up. And I bet they found his prints on the boat. I think it was true. He was in the LA Harbor patrol when he was a cop. So it makes sense that he would go to the water since he knows it so well.

I am really surprised he got the ropes wrapped around the propeller though. He must be really nervous and anxious.

I know. But I don't think he ever intended to take the boat. Red herring perhaps. The "rope around the propeller" might be a convenient dodge. If he still has his LAPD cop killing blood boiling, what was he going to do in Mexico? Then again, one cannot say what this troubled mind will do next, or where the next path will lead.

I think one of his main targets is in the Santa Monica area. My 20 yr old lives there and I told her to lay low. He could pop up and shoot up the pier or the boardwalk tomorrow.

Katy, he may have hijacked the boat, but I don't believe he'd take it to Mexico. Does anyone know if he tried to hijack the boat before he shot at the officers or after? I'm confused with that point.

If I lived up there I would feel like leaving. He may have broken into a cabin but I wouldn't count on him a) being able to stay there without supplies or b) wanting to stay there.

He needs a car and likely has more plans. He is going to be on the move at some point. Frightening as hell.

He is looking for a car, big time. OR an empty cabin. I really hope that nobody blindly enters their cabins this weekend. Lots of families run up there on Friday afternoons. I'd hate to find that monster hiding in my attic.

MsF, we're at "prime time" programming...and it looks like they've gone to it. There are some news channels which air news at 8 and 9, and 10...but CBS, NBC and ABC go to prime time programming.

The other channels are KTLA, KCAL9, Fox11, and Channel 13 (forgot their call signs). They are the ones who have the prime time news programming here.

PS: While I'm not in any targeted area (that I know), I have my dogs with me, and they will be with me all night...and yes, there are other weapons available should the need arise. So while I'm tense, I don't believe that most of us are in direct danger.

I might be wrong, but I believe he tied up the old man BEFORE he shot the cops. He apparently went to San Diego after he shot the young couple on Sunday night. But I cannot pinpoint the time.

This is super scary. I've got two cousins out there with police spouses! They whole area is under freak out alert, not taking the kids to school, not going out of their houses. And yes, nightfall is a horrible time. Who knows what the news will be when we rise :(

BTW, the shot-out coin is evidence of his marksmanship. I didn't see the broadcast, but from what has been said here, that's a demonstration of how good a shot he is.
