One thing I thought about was did someone else take the truck to big bear and torch it?

Point Loma Hotel clerk's BF says Dorner checked into the hotel last Tuesday using Navy ID
The clerk's boyfriend, who only wanted to be identified as "Dan," said Navy officials told his girlfriend not to speak with the media. However, Dan knew what happened and spoke with 10News.

"The first thing they wanted to know... did he have a Navy ID, did he have a military ID and he did," said Dan.*

Dan said security did not check if the identification was current or expired.

"He kept pointing his face away from the camera, trying to purposely avoid the cameras that were at the front desk," said Dan.

You don't need to give a name or SSN for those cheap phones. They usually sell for about $14 and you can buy minute cards, all with cash. If you want one with internet capability you may have to pay about $30 for it, but you can still pay cash for it and the minutes. Family Dollar and Dollar General types stores are not going to ask for any personal info. Extra cards can also be bought at any drug store or WalMart at the counter and they are not going to ask for any personal info either.

There are also wind up and battery operated t.v.s and radios available, most people buy them for when the power goes out.

I know, I said NON-prepaid cellphones need ID and contact info. But I agree, Dorner likely purchased the prepaid phones.

:) A tad frustrating eh?

A false SSN? and the proper name associated with this false SSN? and a false address? I guess it is possible. I believe they would have to risk a credit check with the false SSN.

I don't believe anyone would go this route but I could be wrong.

bbm...I think you misread...- what I said is I don't know many of them.

It is amazing what cops learn while investigating criminals. Criminals do crazy things, and I have personally witnessed a criminal having almost a hundred different SS cards (fake) with ID cards and credit cards to match. You had to look at the SS card really closely to realize that it was fake. He admitted in his manifesto that he purchased AR's very easily, and through shady means.

Regarding the cell phones, if he has one, they are much harder to track than you would think. The cell phone companies give you a general location, not an exact location. They were wrong by a mile one time, and that was an elderly female on foot in the dark so I know that she wasn't moving that fast. While a general location would help, especially if he is a remote area like BB where they could use the dogs, it wouldn't be too helpful if he was in the city with multiple buildings to check. The most accurate GPS that I have seen are Apple products, which will literally show you the house on the map where that product is located.

This is a very interesting article:

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-dorner-hunt-20130211,0,7657304.story

Especially this:

"In the search for accused killer Christopher Dorner, police are poring over clues to answer another perplexing question: Is Dorner a methodical, well-trained professional? Or is he a panicked amateur in over his head?"

^^Which I'm wondering myself. It has been quiet for a few days now, so is he planning his next move or wondering how he is going to get out of this mess that he created? Only time will tell I guess.

Well he obviously is not amateur. The guy has both military and police training.

I just do not understand why he would name anyone in his manifesto that is helping. jmo

JMO-
Maybe because he doesn't think logically. His "injustice collector" essay is full of bizarre threats, thoughts. I would think he vacillates between who's a friend and who's and enemy on a regular basis. I see him as always musing.

I think he is pretty clear about who is his enemy/targets. imo

I probably did a poor job of stating my thoughts. I was further speculating beyond the essay, and more about daily life...I think he rants in his head, constantly. My opinion-It doesn't take much to go from "friend" to "target".

I thought that it was very controlled and collected. But it was also very arrogant and delusional how he shouted out to celebs as if he were some sort of martyr. That was written though before all of the heat was on him, so who knows how he is reacting now.

I really don't think that he has anyone helping him. For one thing, I don't think that anyone would be stupid enough to help him, plus a million dollar bounty would be hard to pass up. Money talks. And another, he clearly thinks that he is better than most as evidenced by his manifesto so I don't think that he would ever ask for help. I think the manifesto was his way of letting certain people know how he feels since he will probably never see them again.

Yep, I have Apple products. The "Find my iPhone/iPad" app uses GPS and locates my devices to the precise address on the map. And I LOVE it!

I don't understand why he would do what he is accused of doing, but that is neither here nor there.

Yes, that I definitely agree with. He has to be a very angry individual to hold onto a grudge that happened in elementary school. I wonder if the LAPD saw that and used the kicking incident as their leverage to get rid of him. Whether or not he was wronged in the beginning, he clearly should not be a police officer.

That may be true, however, I do not believe he would name in his manifesto a person who is helping him. imo

For better or worse, the fanboy prattle in the manifesto tends to humanize the guy.

What makes me much more nervous is when he writes something like this:
I am the walking exigent circumstance you created.
