I don't believe he is holding someone hostage. No one is reporting that and the cop they just interviewed didn't say that either.
They are mistaken.

Don't they know where he is???

There is no telling what might be in vehicles from that area, fwiw.

I know, I just hoped they were 100% sure he was in that cabin.
Not to mention I keep seeing them open those car doors and pointing the guns in... those poor kids in the backseat have to be terrified. :please:
I hope those cars have NO choice but to be driving right now. I wouldn't be if I didn't HAVE to.

There is no way I would ever be able to be a news reporter. The way they breathlessly talk about this and try to pry as much gore as they can from principles.

CNN got it from the LA Times. as new news

I'm not hearing that he's holding anyone hostage. ABC Los Angeles is not reporting that.

UPDATE: San Bernardino county sheriff tells media live-tweeting is hindering officer safety and “please stop tweeting, immediately”

Apparently it was the LA Times

Did he get out of that cabin? they're checking vehicles because he might be in one of them????

No Fish & Wildlife Officers have been hurt. Had an exchange of gunfire with the suspect, but they were NOT hurt.

I think that if he was up in that area for a period of time, there is no telling what he might have stashed where.

Checking the vehicles makes sense and I do think there should be a media black out.

Have LE had a direct sighting of D? Im trying to understand why LE hasn't shot him by now.

There was some concern that he had help. I'm guessing they simply want to be sure he doesn't slip away again. Which, if he has help, could be possible (i.e., the help drawing the fire, while he leaves). I admittedly think this scenario is doubtful but better to cover their bases than a 20/20 hindsight shoulda-coulda-woulda.

he had a couple if women held hostage last night (?) tied them up and stole their truck, they were able to get away and tell police, thats how the fish and game knew what truck to look for - IIRC
