The only response I've received was asking that I not contact their listed case manager on NamUs, rather to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's ID Unit. That request came from the ID Unit, and I've received nothing since. :(

@ProductiveOne Did you have any voice communication with the school???
Just wondering what they would even say to you!!!

Another rather strange thing to me..... I really had no idea where Compton is, exactly.
So Google Maps showed me just how tightly congested it is!! Seems hard to believe this body went undetected for soooo long.

No, I didn't. I CC'd the school principle. I imagine the principle, and ID Unit are communicating. I did send a follow-up email to the ID Unit yesterday, and if I hear anything, I'll let you all know.

I wish I knew someone at the school. I'm really curious what they could find.

I know everyone is thinking of the mask for covid times. When I first saw the photo, I actually thought some chemistry lab work with those big glasses and the heavy mask....
Great suggestion!

It still looks to me like a covid-style mask to be honest, but your alternative is definitely a sound possibility that shouldn't be ruled out either.

I got a response back: "We will review the submitted information. Please note, the results of comparisons may or may not be made available to the public for investigatory reasons."

Thought I would pop in and see if any updates. Do we know if those 2 pics were circulated to the Compton area..newspaper or local news ?

Kind of surprising nothing has developed yet. Maybe those photos haven't really been too widely distributed in the community.

I’ve found that UID cases rarely get any kind of mainstream media attention.

And yet, I just find them totally engrossing. With the identification of that middle school.... I just KNOW that someone could recognize if the pictures were put out there .

As of today, zero ruleouts on NamUs

This is a case for Othrum.

still no recognition??

Have there been "Do You Know this Person" stories in the local news.....

wow.

Is there any way you could reach out to local newspapers directly? Im assuming they would be under v tight rules on what they could run, being an open case?

anyone think this looks like the same style of photograph?

[My % of this being a match is rising a bit, thee corners of these photos have the same bevel, and the margins appear to be the same. So i think it's at least the same film?

Ooooo, I didn't see you guys maybe id'd the school! FWIW this photo was taken in 2017, and I believe the person in the photo would have been in 6th-9th grade.

I get the feeling this UID was homeless. He carried around these pictures of family that he once had a connection with. No ID on him except for a 2 dollar bill. It's only been 6 months since his body was found....
Zero ruleouts on NamUs.

Can they not tell the sex/gender of the UID by the shape of the pelvis? (unless most of the body became erroded)

From a biological standpoint, it's possible to identify the sex of a UID through the shape of the pelvis. A female pelvis is wider, while a male pelvis is narrower and shorter, so it would be easy enough to try and identify the sex, unless I'm wrong and there's more to it than that.

I assume it would just be what information is public vs the time the info was entered into namus vs tons of other factors.

Should be possible yes, could already be confirmed somewhere, could be impossible to tell.

Hm okay. on the NamUs page it says that this UID was identified as male.

I was just responding to the comment just fyi;

it looks like the namus page has been updated at some point and does indeed say male now.
