I've been following the Belvedere/Flint case, in which the killer had to be sent to Patton Hospital for awhile. He was recently deemed competent to stand trial and is now facing a Death Penalty trial.

JMO, Pierre could have done any number of things to avoid having to kill three people for whatever he wanted so bad from the doctor or from that house. He could've worn a mask, or just broke into the house when no one was home, etc., but for some reason he decided he needed to kill three people...including a precious little girl.

I can't wait to learn eventually what his hope for financial gain was that made any of this worth it. He took it to the max in ultimate greed, it seems.

Consider that the financial gain might have been cash money, plain and simple. And if/when the doctor did not pay-up, this evil person committed the most horrendous murders. Extortion? It's possible.

Don't really know, but I figure this was more than simply for cash in the way these crimes were described as "complex, diabolical, premeditated, odious". Hope we find out more tomorrow.

Hadn't seen this -- the video shows the nice house in a nice neighborhood where the killer lived. His neighbors describe him as weird, but that comes as no surprise. Just a look at the only pic of him he posted on his fb with that empty, blank expression.

Another thought -- I'd be thanking my stars he didn't open fire if I had been at the doctor's clinic when he showed up upset last week.

To clarify, I meant at the time of the murders. IF the accused had a beef with Dr. Han (some perceived grievance), perhaps he had demanded money from the doctor when he (Haobsh) went to the clinic earlier in the week. After the doctor refused, an enraged Haobsh set his diabolical plan in-motion. He could have also thought the doctor had a safe or cash in his home. Either way, he was prepared to kill all three - premeditated.

I can't see how else Haobsh thought the murders would result in his financial gain, apart from demanding cash or goods. Sounds more like vengeance to me.

...just speculating...

I think the most we can expect, if even that, is a film clip of the arraignment on the evening news and not a live stream at the time of the court hearing. From your linked article:

KEYT/KCOY/KKFX requested to have a camera in the courtroom when Haobsh hears the charges.

I've been watching KSBY news via the net for a couple of hours, all repeats. I've now moved-on to Judge Judy. <g>

Triple-Homicide Suspect Appears in Court to Face First-Degree Murder Charges

The Oceanside man accused of murdering a prominent Santa Barbara doctor and his family last week in their home near Santa Barbara appeared in court for the first time Tuesday afternoon for arraignment.

Three counts of first-degree murder were filed earlier in the day...

Article states arraignment postponed to April 12. It also names Prosecuting Attys as well as Public Defenders.

Judge James Herman issued an order over the weekend allowing public defender access to Haobsh, and the order was opposed...

(Deputy DA) Dozer said the order should be void since Haobsh had not asked for an attorney and had not been arraigned at the time.

Montes De Oca (judge who presided over arraignment) asked all sides to file briefs before a hearing is held on the matter.

No mention of father (or sister) in the courtroom.

Some people are questioning if he did not bring his own gun, and used the victim's gun, to shoot them that it doesn't show premeditation. He was 'lying in wait', but I'm curious whose gun he used and the timing. I wonder if he kept Jenny and Emily alive, as they were probably at the house after 7 p.m., until Dr. Han showed up after 10 p.m.

Just thinking about this happy family coming home to whatever horrendous things happened to them then is a horrible nightmare.

There's no way I believe he didn't mean to kill them.

The only place I've read that the gun was Dr. Han's is in the Comments sections of various online sites. I'm not buying it. LE knows but hasn't seen fit to address this rumor in public statements.

I also think Haobsh came prepared to kill and meant to do so. There is evidence of premeditation in his having the gun, the roll of plastic wrap, lying in wait, and possibly more that we don't yet know about. And as we know, premeditation itself can occur in an instant, and its weight increases for the 2nd and 3rd victims.

I'd go so far as to suggest that intent was formed after Haobsh's visits to the Clinic when Han refused to pay him. I view the underlying motive as financial gain but my personal feeling is that the murders were committed as a payback for the doctor's refusal to pay-up what Haobsh thought was fair 'compensation'. By the time he left the Clinic, Haobsh was so enraged that he wanted revenge maybe even more than money. As my previous posts indicated, I do entertain the possibility that he thought he could get cash from Dr. Han at the house by threatening to kill Jennie and Emily but when that hope was dashed, he pulled the gun on Dr. Han who might not yet have seen this his wife and daughter were already dead - or he killed the two immediately after. However it went-down, at that point in time, he wanted all 3 dead.

It would certainly seem that he used Jennie and Emily to get from Dr. Han what he wanted - money.

The Times Of Death (sequence of the killings) were hopefully determined and will be revealed eventually. I can, and have, imagined numerous disturbing scenarios. This is truly the stuff of which nightmares are made.

I doubt we'll get much more to discuss for a long while. Meantime, reading Comments at Noozhawk and edhat keep me pondering.

Sorry for such a jumbled post. Ideas keep flowing as I type...

Bad news writing, which could be interpreted in either of two ways:

...a loaded 9mm handgun and also property believed to belong to one of the victims (my take)

~or~

...a loaded 9mm handgun and property both believed to belong to one of the victims (as if both belonged to one of the victims)
