GUILTY CA - Dr. Han, wife & 5yo daughter brutally slain, Santa Barbara, 23 March 2016

  • #81
This is just awful. UGH. At least the perp has been caught...unlike the McStay Family murders (3-1/2 years). And arrested quickly, unlike Mark Sievers (8 month wait).

Precious Han Family...prayers for family, friends, patients, and everyone touched by this awful tragedy.

You are SO right, cpeacock1...thank you.

Earlier this evening, when telling online friends about this horrible case, I let them know it happened barely a week ago but that the killer was caught immediately. How rarely does this happen?

Good job, Santa Barbara LE!

Showing up at the doctor's clinic upset earlier that week may have been the first clue for LE that pointed them in the suspect's direction. Ditto -- Good job, Santa Barbara LE!

I agree the wording about the gun is not a conclusive statement. Wonder what evidence might be in that U-Haul truck.

Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputies use a truck to remove evidence from the home where Dr. Weidong “Henry” Han and his wife and 5-year-old daughter were found murdered.

Is the arraignment April 12 or April 14?

Inside the Han Family Murders
The Investigation and the Legacy of Dr. Henry Han

A long article with history of case, the victims, and some information on the accused as well. Here is a sample:

On both Monday and Tuesday, Haobsh had reportedly walked into Han’s Santa Barbara Herb Clinic across from La Cumbre Plaza, bypassed the front desk, and said in a brusque, dismissive manner, “Henry knows who I am.”
...
Until his arrest, American-born Pierre Haobsh lived with his French-born father, Frederick Smith, or Frederick Haobsh, in rented rooms of an Oceanside house. Not much is known about Frederick, but online searches show he founded the now-defunct oil company Cal Tech International Inc. and was an ex-CIA agent of Jordanian descent. The younger Haobsh left a scarce Internet trail (he had a Facebook page with one profile picture visible to the public).
...
...will return to court April 12

ETA: This article is a must-read, particularly for those who are closely following this case.

BBM.

I believe both dates were stated in two different articles yesterday. A third article (link posted just above) states April 12.

The Santa Barbara Independent article is very good! Thanks, Shana.

I especially enjoyed the extensive background material on the Doctor. There are so few really brilliant productive people in this country, and I just don't 'get' the need or desire of some to wipe them out.

The background info on Pierre pretty much matches everything I had managed to dig up. The family oil and gas connections, the father and the CIA, the death of the mother. I am not sure of any French connection. Pierre Freedon Haobsh was born December 12, 1989 in Collin County, Texas to "Fred and Nancy". According to his Naturalization Petition in Las Vegas in 1985, "Fred" was born in Ammon, Jordan in 1946.

And, as his sister mentioned, he went to Concord boarding school, but I have not yet found anything else about him.

Was he somehow involved with the hemp project?

Family Members Arriving From China After Han Murders in The Goleta Valley

They are expected to arrive today or tomorrow.
...
Reporter Raymond Gao is in Santa Barbara writing news for The China Press, a publication out of Alhambra near Los Angeles. He says the story is being followed very closely in China and there are many unanswered questions. " What is the motivation, why?? That's why I am here," said Gao."One thing I can confirm, is money involved.”

Are we talking about Pierre being an investor in Dr. Han's clinic? Where did Pierre get money to invest?

  • #90
I don't think anyone knows yet what Pierre's business transaction was with Dr. Han. He sounds like a self entitled narcissist barging into the doctor's clinic demanding attention. His agitated manner definitely drew attention, and doesn't sound like it blended well with the doctor's or the clinic's healing atmosphere.

On both Monday and Tuesday, Haobsh had reportedly walked into Han’s Santa Barbara Herb Clinic across from La Cumbre Plaza, bypassed the front desk, and said in a brusque, dismissive manner, “Henry knows who I am.” Han was last seen alive at 10 p.m. Tuesday night, and Yu and Emily at 7 p.m. that night, according to Brown.

Thank you for sharing this touching article, giving us a bit of insight into Dr. Han's life. The "east meets west" component reminds me of Dr T Sievers recent murder.
How sad....

Thank You, but credit goes to shana for sharing all the news from her locale and her efforts to keep us updated.

Oh yes, I'm sure Dr.Teresa Sievers and Dr. Han would have a lot in common professionally. They both had reputations for going the extra mile to help patients, thinking outside the box, and it's so hard to find healers like them. Very sad we lost them.

I am looking at a page that has to do with some information pertaining to Pierre's father's business and Pierre's alleged place of employment. Keeping in mind that the business is supposedly no longer in business, it is noteworthy because of a couple of dates:

It shows an industrial grade temperature control system. Could Dr. Han have been interested in such a unit for one of his projects?

i.b.nora Thx for the ^ link w this info:

" Mr. Pierre Haobsh, Chief Technology Officer. Pierre brings a wealth of experience to the team. With a background in multiple scientific disciplines, including electrical engineering, computer programming, chemistry, and mechanical engineering. Pierre has strong experience having worked at a high level in the fields of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and military technology. His research & development, and manufacturing experience has been an invaluable asset for CTI."

Someone commented after an MSM article - PH seems to have a lottttttttttt of experience & expertise for a 27 y/o. ITS too.

Thanks i.b.nora for the company profile for his dad's company. Did you guys catch PH title and resume? In my opinion, the connection is "cosmetics". Was PH helping Dr. Han develop the cell regeneration line he was researching?

Thanks i.b.nora. Intriguing.

PH was listed as Chief Technology Officer in the company profile. https://web.archive.org/web/20160128195128/http://caltechinternational.com/cp

Just speculating here about what business Pierre might have had with Dr. Han. One of those units might work towards a project Dr. Han was working on. Just guessing here, but two projects come to mind that I read about in a prior news article -- cosmetics using stem cells or possibly the making of hemp oil for medicinal purposes. Does that sound possible?

What happened that PH was no longer a key executive since approximately Feb. 10, 2016? He's not listed on their key executives board currently, but other family members are listed. Looks like it may still be in business, but I don't know.
