GUILTY CA - Dr. Han, wife & 5yo daughter brutally slain, Santa Barbara, 23 March 2016

  • #101
What happened that PH was no longer a key executive since approximately Feb. 10, 2016? He's not listed on their key executives board currently, but other family members are listed. Looks like it may still be in business, but I don't know.

http://www.bloomberg.com/research/stocks/private/people.asp?privcapId=6761211

snipped

We don't know the date of that Bloomberg listing of “key executives”. The only thing we know is its missing a couple names that appear on other listings and has added the daughter/sister name.

For instance, one of the listed ‘executives’ (Teschemacher) died in September of 2011, almost five years ago.

I think Pierre is a spineless flake, a ne'er-do-well and I think the nature of the business itself is somewhat suspect. I think the resumes are more or less accurate for the so-called executives, while Pierre's own resume is over the top inflated. There is nothing sophisticated or high end about the company website that would require the kind of educational background that Pierre claims to have. And, why is a 27 year old living with his 60+ year old father in a couple of rented rooms in someone else's house?

Too many things don't add up, imo.

Guess you can't be fooled into buying the bridge he had for sale, i.b.nora. Thanks, you're a breath of fresh air.

The company does everything and Pierre was a 27 yr. old expert in everything with no actual education or prior experience listed. Something unreal about that business, IMO. What was he trying to pull over on Dr. Han?

Wonder if he stayed in the area or traveled up there both Monday and Tuesday to the clinic, without an appointment, only to get murderously angry when Dr. Han couldn't make time for him.

Did he feel justified killing three people, including a little girl?

At Arroyo Burro Beach Memorial, Han Family Remembered for Attentiveness, Dedication, Generosity

Hundreds of friends and former patients of Dr. Henry Han and his family turn out for sunset farewell to three murder victims

Nancy Black, who organized the memorial and is serving as a media liaison for the clinic, described how, in addition to a routine physical check-up, Han addressed his patients’ emotional and mental well-being when seeing them.
...
With the Hans’ relatives making their way over from China, an official memorial for them, Black said, was still to be organized.
...
A...crowd-funding site has been established to benefit the clinic.

One more, from the Indy:

Han Family Remembered at Hendry’s Beach Ceremony

Ella Bittel, a holistic veterinarian on the Central Coast, remembered that “even when he was in China,” Han would give medical advice to Bittel’s father in Germany via a three-way conference call. “He really loved animals,” she said of Han...

I've read other glowing reports of Dr. Han's treating animals/pets with herbal remedies, with the blessing of local DVMs. I wonder where the family dog was at the time of the murders.

Is the arraignment April 12 or April 14?

BBM.

I believe both dates were stated in two different articles yesterday. A third article (link posted just above) states April 12.

Tomorrow is Tuesday, April 12th. Hope we hear something about Pierre Haobsh's arraignment.

Dog’s Not Dead II

The Latest But Not Greatest on Henry Han Murder Investigation

NOTE: This is an opinion piece from the Santa Barbara Independent. There is such little information about the Han case in our local media that I found this worth a read and a share.

Mods: Please remove if not allowed, with my apologies.

I just saw a short clip on our local news channel KCOY featuring today's hearing. Haobsh's demeanor was much the same as at his first court appearance, head straight ahead but rapidly shifting his glance sideways. When the hearing was over and he walked-out, he looked unfazed if not determined.

If interested, you might be able to view a rerun, here:

http://www.keyt.com/news/watch-now/36485040

The story was in the first 10 mins of the telecast.

Thank You. It won't let me watch it, but you did fine describing it. Guess he wants to stall.

I looked for news and found an article on today's arraignment
http://www.ksby.com/story/31707363/...-man-suspected-in-goleta-valley-triple-murder

"Haobsh did not enter a plea in court Tuesday."

"Judge Raimundo Montes de Oca continued Haobsh's arraignment to May 5 in Department 6, under a different judge, Jean Dandona."

"Legal counsel said more time was needed to review the case."

and

"The felony charges against Haobsh include allegations that the crime was premeditated and the murders were for financial gain."

Each article provides a bit more and different information. Here's a longer one, from our local Noozhawk:

Arraignment Delayed Again For Triple-Murder Suspect Pierre Haobsh

Deputy County Counsel Michelle Montez asked the judge to void Herman’s order, saying it could set precedent, but Montes De Oca said he won’t sign an advisory order to that effect.

He said the public defenders hadn’t followed an established procedure in this case, and the situation “could have been done better.”

Please read the article as linked above for further details about these legal wranglings.

Thanks again. I watched it. Jazzy tie, but he is such a blank and empty looking person. Makes him look cold and having no remorse. I bet a jury will find it hard to believe he's human. Oh my, that sweet looking lady from Oregon expressed a strong reaction that "she wanted to leap through the window and harm him".

That other article was interesting about the legal stuff. I don't think I have a problem with the judge's decision.

Haobsh's arraignment continues on May 5.

Inside the Han Family Murders
The Investigation and the Legacy of Dr. Henry Han

A long article with history of case, the victims, and some information on the accused as well. Here is a sample:

On both Monday and Tuesday, Haobsh had reportedly walked into Han’s Santa Barbara Herb Clinic across from La Cumbre Plaza, bypassed the front desk, and said in a brusque, dismissive manner, “Henry knows who I am.”
...
Until his arrest, American-born Pierre Haobsh lived with his French-born father, Frederick Smith, or Frederick Haobsh, in rented rooms of an Oceanside house. Not much is known about Frederick, but online searches show he founded the now-defunct oil company Cal Tech International Inc. and was an ex-CIA agent of Jordanian descent. The younger Haobsh left a scarce Internet trail (he had a Facebook page with one profile picture visible to the public).
...
...will return to court April 12

ETA: This article is a must-read, particularly for those who are closely following this case.

Shana, thank you for posting this wonderful and heartbreaking article.
Dr. Han was a brilliant doctor, a rare gem with a wonderful wife and daughter, the more I read about him the angrier I get.

My first language is foul, I cannot use my colorful words here but I'm coming close.
The rat who murdered this amazing family makes me sick to my core. I can see him in court now, working on an insanity defense.
My evil unborn twin did this defense. Bring it on you murderous psycho lunatic from hell, bring it on.

Early on in the investigation, Curious me brought to my attention Dr. Han like Dr. Sievers are/were alike in many ways when it comes to medicine, East meets West.
I believe we need Doctors who can use more than one philosophy when it comes to medicine and healing, Doctors who actually want to help and heal.
There are so many physicians who are in it for the money. JMO I am not referring to all physicians but they are out there.

Dr Han and Dr Sievers were out to change the world, one patient at a time. I pray Dr Han and his ideas are not forever lost now. :heartbeat:

Justice for Dr. Han :candle: his wife Huijie Yu :candle: and little Emily :candle:

Haobsh Denied Access to Public Defender

Attorney Not Allowed in County Jail, Calls Block ‘Unprecedented’

Debate on the matter - ruled moot Tuesday by Judge Montes De Oca - postponed Haobsh’s arraignment, as well as the fact that Voss and Deputy Public Defender Mindi Boulet only received “substantial discovery” the Friday before court. Typically, law enforcement reports are provided to defense attorneys within a few days of arraignment? - not after a few weeks.

In the absence of any real information on the case, speculation has escalated.

Break it down for me. I feel dense.

I found this a confusing article and situation. Tried to break it down by dates, but then didn't know what to make of Haobsh not even requesting an attorney or public defender. Is the dilemma settled? Or are Haobsh's public defenders going to use their complaints in some kind of defense tactic.

I snipped sentences to follow the timeline

On Wednesday, March 23, the Han family was found...

On Friday, March 25, Haobsh — whom authorities call a “business acquaintance” of Dr. Han — was arrested...

Upon Haobsh’s arrest, public defenders immediately went to the Santa Barbara County Jail to offer him counsel. “We were turned away by multiple levels of Sheriff’s personnel and not allowed to even notify Mr. Haobsh that we were available to represent him,”

...public defenders on Saturday, March 26, obtained court orders from Judge James Herman, granting them permission to speak with and represent Haobsh.

Neither Haobsh nor his family requested a public defender, according to court papers filed March 29 by County Counsel Michael Ghizzoni and Deputy County Counsel Michelle Montez. “In fact, Mr. Haobsh waived his rights to silence and counsel,” they said. However, the declarations included in their legal filings didn’t quite substantiate that.

Sheriff’s Office criminal investigator Jeffrey McDonald said, “Mr. Haobsh did not request an attorney nor did any family member request counsel on his behalf.”

Voss and Deputy Public Defender Mindi Boulet only received “substantial discovery” the Friday before court. Typically, law enforcement reports are provided to defense attorneys within a few days of arraignment — not after a few weeks

Bet Dr. Han knew about Chinese Watermelon Frost to cure mouth ulcers and canker sores. I ran across people discussing it and realized it'd be hard to find something like that from a local doctor or pharmacy. I didn't need it, but I started to understand the knowledge of these remedies should not be lost to modern medicine.

I know it is very hard to find an expert herbalist in ancient Chinese medicine like Dr. Han, with a pharmacy too. That's a rare find in many cities. He knew how to help people with an open mind. Dr. Teresa Sievers was also a special doctor who changed and improved the health of many of her patients. I copied the below quote for you because I know there was a lot of discussion on the Sievers case before we found out her own husband arranged her murder.

http://www.independent.com/news/2016/apr/14/haobsh-denied-access-public-defender/

In the absence of any real information on the case, speculation has escalated. Many observers have called attention to Internet reports that 25 alternative doctors across the country died in the past year under mysterious circumstances. However, reports on those cases show the doctors belonged to disparate fields — like chiropracty, dentistry, and autism; 10 died on the southern seaboard (eight in Florida). Many prescribed controversial regimens. A handful were researching cancer treatments.

Thank you for the link, Curious me, and for the Watermelon Frost.
My Fibro/CFS causes me to have mouth sores. I am also allergic to Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and if I use any oral hygiene product that has it, I get mouth ulcers from that also.

There have been a few recent articles in local online sites re a Han memorial this past Sunday. I have not posted the links insofar as they tell us nothing about the case. They do underscore the loss to the community and the immense grief that is felt here.

I love this post, thank you. My little Cherokee Momma always taught me that there is a cure for every illness on the planet, but you had to get out in the woods, desert, etc to find it.
