This appears to be extremely similar in nature to Ayres-not the age range attraction but the other aspects. Before any possible abuse victims read this PDF, I want to warn you that the depiction of the events are extremely specific and there are letters, interviews and forensic psychiatric examinations of the perp included in this PDF. I expect that this will be the style of evaluation Ayres will face or should face during the mental competency evaluation.
Yeah. That's a pretty rough document. I got to page three:
Here's a snippet from a letter that the perp sent to one of the victims:
"You need to let go of the past, find forgiveness, not for my sake but yours and realize that hate will keep you from ever healing. It took me years to forgive myself for hurting you, [relatives of Mr. Konkel], and so many others that are affected by this. And now those people I love are being hurt again."
So here's the funny thing:
In response to some of my more cutting writings, (And sometimes just at any old time, thrown in for good measure.) I get commentary almost exactly like this from people claiming to be "
on the victim's side." "You should focus on forgiveness" "It's not going to help anyone if an old senile man goes to jail" etc, etc, etc.
Guilt upon guilt upon guilt upon guilt. It could take someone 25 - 30 years to break through all those layers of guilt. (-wry irony-)
Now, here's the thing: I happen to *know* that some of them are NOT ayres or his wife. What they don't seem to get is that:
I understand from the very nature of their comments that it's VERY likely that they are also perpetrators of some similar types of crimes, and they are reacting as if they have been called out for THEIR actions.
Why are they all so smug?
I couldn't make it past that point in the document. Later though... I will.
