Has anyone ever done an empirical study on PTSD and trial delays? They about drove me around the bend. We'd be geared up over and over and get a cancelation call. We were gob-smacked when one trial date actually happened on the day before Thanksgiving (until 6:30 pm) and another two days before Christmas. It was hard for me to accept that those dates were random.
I've always wondered if there isn't a very real attempt to undermine the courage of the victims...even when it's not a testimony day. I'll bet blood pressure readings of the victims would be interesting to note.
All the ayres ones always fall around birthdays, planned vacations, etc. The pressure/distraction even for this stupid hearing have been building for weeks, and even though I knew weeks ago that it would be silly for them to have the pre-trial hearing given the vacation of the trial date, today is a huge let-down and I'm barely able to focus.
And yes... everything is ALWAYS about demoralizing the victims to the point that they give up. What else can you do when you have a guilty client? The justice system is so completely broken, I don't even know what to say. They really should just have auditors come in, look at all of the paperwork, and see who's done the best job filling out all of the insignificant procedural paperwork, and declare that side the winner. That's basically what they get in the end anyway. You get some guy who has lots of independent corroboration of pedophile behaviors, several reports, out of court settlement (six figures) books in his possession that are basically produced and traded by child

enthusiasts, his own damning testimony, etc, etc, etc... and you end up with a hung jury because they don't get to hear the complete picture because of paperwork, and because the court doesn't want to "bias" the jury due to the number of similar complaints that have been made to the police, or by allowing the jury to hear the definition of "pedophile" thereby showing them that his very own testimony is potentially damning.
Just look at the damn paperwork, see that the high paid lawyer had more time to fill it out, and let the perp back onto the street for God's sake...
158/92 Respectably high... Who needs to think about cement pylons... This crap will do the job for you.:banghead:
Edited to add: OK... I'll tell you what I REALLY think. -heh heh heh-
