I would give anything to be at that hearing....

Wonder how Ayres is spending Easter weekend.

Better check the local San Mateo swimming pools and skateboard parks and other places where adolescent boys congregate.

On--Until you wrote your post above I honestly thought that our experience was unique. Every birthday, wedding, graduation, announcement of pregnancy, birth, and holiday was somehow tainted by the Smith family and their finagling attorneys. Depositions nine years after the rapes--on Christmas week? Long drawn out hearings the day before Thanksgiving? Requiring 15 years of my private journals and calendars be turned over on....my birthday?

When I counsel with families going through this, I tell them to disregard the dates. Call the DA/prosecutor the afternoon before and once again in the morning and that's it. You must make a conscious decision to move on with the glorious messiness of life or "they" win.

Let me tell you a little story. I'm ill and I rarely get out. Three years ago, I was still able to go out occasionally in a wheelchair but was still in bed most of the time. Several of our adult kids were in town and they'd reserved part of my favorite restaurant (and my favorite servers/chef/and restaurant owner for a family get-together. It was very special for me. I was so excited and felt just strong enough (with extra anti-seizure drugs on board) to tackle it.

That afternoon at 4 pm, 16 subpoenas were delivered to our door. I was required to show up at the door to accept them. I was badly shaken as I was holding proof that my shaky group was going to be put through the wringer once again. I went back to bed and told everyone I just couldn't go. I felt sad and angry and resentful and very fragile and I NEVER feel fragile.

Everyone else went out with my insistence. One adult son stayed with me as he felt terrible that I'd missed out on my special event. I cried even though I'm not much of a crier. I whined even though I rarely whine. My son wisely suggested a glass of wine.

I got about halfway through the glass of wine when a lightning bolt struck me. I thought, "To hell with this noise". No rapist and his weaselly attorneys are going to steal joy from my life. I asked my son to get my fanciest silk skirt and lacy shawl and frou frou. I put on shoes and even some make-up and refused the wheelchair.

I walked into that restaurant on the arm of my young man much to the shock of the rest of the family. Much merry-making and wine-drinking ensued and to this day I consider that I won that round.
Good for you, Missizzy!

Mercyneal--I'm following the Mohler case through the system. Along with that, I've been paying close attention to arrests for sexual abuse and child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 in the Kansas City/Independence area. It seems as if LE been extremely busy. I have been shocked at the speed of some convictions--albeit ones where the perp pleads guilty. There is one man, though, Martin Cordry, who was arrested in December 2008 but not even indicted until March 2010. I don't get it.

http://www.justice.gov/usao/mow/news2010/cordry.ind.htm

Another thought on the pleas. I'm finding that prosecutors--both state and federal--seem to be using the rationale of preventing a victim from having to testify in allowing a quick plead. This "closes the case" a bit too fast IMO. There's very little media coverage--sometimes only a press release. Because of this, other victims and the general public are rarely made aware of the charges. The pleas also allow for far shorter prison terms. I'm just not certain that this is the correct approach for pedophiles. I wish they'd have no choice but to go through the messy trial, hard as this is on many victims. JMO

I was especially surprised to see one of our local DA's comment to the press on the day James Auchincloss was arraigned. Mr. Auchincloss is a bit of a local "celebrity" as he is Jackie Kennedy Onassis' half brother. He and a couple of his friends were found to have a large amount of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 of little boys. When questioned outside the courtroom at the arraignment, the DA said that their office would consider a plea from Mr. Auchincloss:

http://www.mailtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090923/NEWS/909230329

"It's possible that the Jackson County District Attorney's Office and Caplan will strike a plea deal before the pre-trial conference, in which case the case would not go to trial, Deputy District Attorney David Hoppe said.

Hoppe said it's unclear whether an agreement would be reached, or whether either party would seek one out...."

I can't tell you how concerned I am about this case, on many levels. The man only lives a few blocks away from me and his attorney, Carl Caplan, represented our children's rapist (you can see his photo at the first link). Still, I have no new information since this hit the press last year. It's a well-reported fact that Mr. Auchincloss had photos of local boys in his possession. I live nearby and have nine sons. I would very much like more than a short and sweet article stating that Mr. Auchincloss has pleaded guilty to two counts and accepted 2 years of probation (or some such sentence).

Wow, thanks for posting on these. I hadn't even heard of the Auchincloss case.

Surely Ayres has replenished his supply of nude boy picture books after the police confiscated his original stock. We believe he has more hard core child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 stashed in a more secret place that the police did not find.

Mercyneal--Remember, I'm in Ashland. This is the same little town where Ayres and his wife showed up. Solveig wrote about coming up for theater (her comments have been cut from the original site, Art Scatter, but preserved on the "watch" blog). She commented on the play, "Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner" and obese people and their deep unhappiness--hmmm.

I wonder if they didn't pay Jamie a call while they were in town? Jamie recently stepped down (just before his indictment for child 🤬🤬🤬🤬) as the director of Oregon Stage Works and gave up his membership at the YMCA (which always confounded me--why would a well off man belong to the Y, instead of one of our very nice private clubs? The presence of lots of little boys, maybe?).

But he has a lovely garden and was very repentant when he stood up at the Unitarian church and asked for forgiveness. I've wanted to smack a few people here in Ashland!!

It would be very interesting to see if Ayres and Jamie ever crossed paths.

  • #426
I agree. It would be very interesting to know if the Ayres and Jamie crossed paths up there in Oregon.

Which reminds me... I was reading over Ayres' deposition from his first molestation civil suit. He brags about having served on the board of the San Mateo YMCA.

This is prior to the Auchincloss's indictment but very telling as to how far back an interest such as this can go:

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/region...I;jsessionid=11B9F4E5466E66A9C220312873F44D3B

"Jackie Kennedy’s half-brother, James "Jamie" Auchincloss, was banished by the family in the 1980s because he became fixated on John Kennedy Jr., beginning when JFK Jr. was just seven years old. Creepy allegations include how Auchincloss asked John Jr. — who was killed in a plane crash with his wife in 1999 — to pose for pictures when he was a boy.

And when Caroline Kennedy dropped out of the running for Hillary Clinton’s New York Senate seat, some of Auchincloss’ Oregon neighbors reportedly thought this scandal was to blame, since child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 was found in his house last October, and he recently admitted that he liked to look at sexually provocative pictures of boys. No charges have been filed yet......."

FWIW, pay attention to the time lapse in this case also.

http://www.kcra.com/news/23072533/detail.html

A 60 year old physician, Scott Dodd Anderson, who was hired to process workman's comp claims, was just picked up for multiple sexual assaults of female patients. This occurred in Sacramento. Aside from this man choosing extremely vulnerable victims, he worked for a company that is cooperating with investigators. US Health Works. They claim that patient safety is their concern, so they are turning over their records.

HMMMMMMMM-you have to admire that kind of transparency.

  • #429
Ugh. The article doesn't specify what kind of doctor Anderson is. Thanks for posting.

G D it!

Looks like Physician: Occupational Medicine, based on a few of those mostly worthless "vitals" and "healthgrade" type sites.

  • #432
Yeah, I wrote to Healthgrades to complain that they are still listing Ayres at his old office address - even though his medical license has been suspended for three years.

They still haven't taken it down.

On--Keep your eyes averted, please.

Man being investigated for allegedly possessing child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 drops out of the Ashland YMCA

"The week news broke that Ashland resident James Auchincloss was being investigated by police for allegedly possessing child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬, the half-brother to the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis canceled his membership to the Ashland Family YMCA, the executive director of the gym said.

LM, executive director of the Ashland Family YMCA, said she couldn't remember whether Auchincloss canceled his membership a few days before or after a story ran in the Ashland Daily Tidings...."

and

"In the June 4 [ETA: 2009] story, Auchincloss' former personal assistant, EM, claimed he had recently seen Auchincloss "hanging out in the kiddie section of the pool at the YMCA......."

more at link

Note--Our YMCA is very nice and fairly new. There's no reason why any adult without children would need to be in the children's section. It's entirely possible to access the adult section without "hanging out" where the little ones are.

  • #434
Oh, my God..... Hanging out at the kiddie pool. This is all beginning to sound way too familiar.

  • #435
Actually, when the case was settled in 2005, I contacted the press and convinced them to do a story. Because of the news stories about the settlement, new victims of Ayres came forward.

And I didn't know about the Samuel Arthur Silverman case. Thanks for the tip. You might also want to read about the very recent case of child psychiatrist Dr. Miguel Frontera in Baltimore who just had his license yanked in a case that's very similar to Ayres.
Good to hear your son is doing well Missizzy

OMG. I have to go find this story. My daughter saw this man for a long time. I'm freaking the hell out.

Hi, Belinda-do you have her records?? If not, can you get them??

  • #437
Belinda- Miguel Frontera only molested boys, as far as we know. But if you have any friends whose sons saw him, and something happened, they should contact prosecutor Jason League in the Baltimore County US Attorney's office.

Here's the order of suspension by the Maryland Medical Board. Details of the abuse are harrowing.

I'm going to throw up. I haven't spoken to my daughter yet. He definitely over-drugged her. I remember that. I know that only boys have been discovered so far, but even if it is just boys, you can rest assured this has been going on for years. I suspect this is just the tip of the iceberg.

  • #439
OMG. Those poor children.

It is tough to know where to start, I am sure- (((HUG))) I am unclear in regards to the criminal pursuit of the case against this guy-I will see what I can find and perhaps calling the DA's office will help you decide next steps...Mercy, jump in if you already know.

OK-I can see the contact in Mercy's post...
The general number for the states attorney is 410-887-6600

The Child Abuse/Sex Offense Unit is at this phone number- 410-887-6610
